Love the revolving menu, everything I’ve tried is fantastic! Glad to see it as a sit down restaurant now along with the food truck.

Marty’s Meats is consistently tasty and delicious. I’ve had their Carolina pulled pork and the Uncle Joon sandwiches, both of which are very good. The kettle chips that come with the sandwiches are great, but I do wish they offered a few more options for sides– baked beans? A salad? Anything, really! My only other complaint is that the bread is so big/rough that it actually felt like it was cutting the insides of my mouth(weird, right? Maybe I’m crazy). Service is usually pretty prompt and food comes out quick, so you don’t have to wait too long for your delicious sandwich!

I finally got to try Marty’s Meats at the latest Food Truck Rodeo. There was a chill in the air, and I had a craving for some serious meat. There was no line, so I figured it was the perfect time. The menu consisted of their Carolina sandwich(a take on the pulled pork sandwich), the Brisket(with bbq sauce, pickles), beef tongue reuben, some roasted turkey and another option I can’t recall. I love love love brisket and never make it at home, so I figured I’d give it a go. I have to say I was surprised when I was handed the sandwich — the ‘slice’ or cut of brisket was huge and THICK. I’m used to thinly sliced brisket, so it came as a surprise. The meat was incredibly tender, albeit a little fattier than I’d prefer. The bbq sauce was way too sweet for me – I prefer a tangy, vinegary sauce with some heat and this sauce tasted too much of sugar and ketchup. I did like how it seemed as though they slathered some sauce on and then tossed it on the flat top/grill so that there were some caramelized bits. I really liked that juxtaposition of the super tender meat and the crispy outside. It was served with some delicious pickle chips on a very, very simple white bun. I do wish the bun had been buttered and grilled however, or use a higher quality bun. The simple white bun seemed to cheapen the whole sandwich. I would give them a try again, maybe the Carolina and slaw, sans the bun. They were ok, and although individual elements were tasty, I was left underwhelmed with the overall sandwich. Maybe it was all the hype, but for $ 10, I expected better.

never tried their food truck before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve heard great things from others about Marty’s and I agree with what I’ve heard. I stopped by the other day and tried their banh mi and it was awesome, my friends had the«country» sandwich, which they also said was really good. Great place & food.

I live in the Park Ave neighborhood and am THRILLED to have Marty’s on Park Ave(or as they have been promoting it ‘Pork Ave’)! My husband and I have been fans of Marty’s for years, following their food truck around from the public market to festivals to food truck rodeos to Richmond’s where they were serving BBQ on weekends. Now that they have a brick-and-mortar place of their own, we always know where they are and can get our faves at any time! I agree with most of the Unilocalers here about their Carolina Pulled Pork — served as a sandwich with their apple-slaw and house-made BBQ sauce(which is now bottled!) it is really delicious. Different, sweet, savory, decadent. But I don’t think you can possibly go wrong with anything you get. On our most recent visit, we had the beef brisket(amazing) and their pork belly(quite a big portion), plus their roasted carrots(totally surprising and awesome) and fresh veg of the day — asparagus ‘roasted’ on the grill. We were lucky that night and also got to sample their new ice-cream sandwich, concocted special for Marty by the Eat Me Ice Cream people — beer ice cream sandwiched between potato-chip cookies — maybe that doesn’t sound good, but believe me, it was the perfect end to the meal. You have to stop in here and give Marty some love.(Right next to Chester Cab Pizza). The food quality amps up the offerings on Park; the price is right, the smell divine, and it’s always consistent. Marty also invested a bunch to make the place functional, putting in A/C, extractor fans, huge fridges and a custom smoker, not to mention their oven/stove/grill unit. The inside is totally cute(from a woman’s perspective) and their ‘wall menu’ is very creative and well done. They also have permission for a few tables outside on the sidewalk, which really, when it comes down to it, is almost a requirement for dining on Park Ave in the summer! Go here now and establish yourself with Marty because pretty soon you might not be able to get in…

Marquees Meats are what you get at a circus. Mormon’s Meats are only sold in Salt Lake City. And Marguiles Meats is when you go down south on Juliana. This place is tastier than all of those things put together and multiplied by 69. What to get: Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwich. In Back To The Future, Jennifer was the girl that Marty meats. I’ve never actually eaten this sandwich… in Rochester. Much like Meatball Truck, it came to Buffalo to the Larkin Square Food Truck Tuesdays, and I was delighted to see it and made it my first purchase of the afternoon, both times I saw it there. And both times it was absolutely spectacular. My fave part of Back To The Future is when Marty meets himself. Oh wait that was Jennifer. Nm. I’ll be honest: in general, Buffalo has really poor, overpriced food trucks. Rochester on the other hand(Marty’s, Juan & Maria, Petit Poutine, El Latino, Abbott’s, Meatball) is doing it right. Buffalo: you’re doing it wrong. We all know about his son Charlie’s lovers, but I’d love to see the kinds of girls that Martin Meats. Unlike Meatball Truck, I actually had sought this out on several trips to Rochester, having known about it for awhile, and yet was never able to meet Mark Twain… or never the Twain shall meet… or something. I came back empty-handed or empty-bellied rather, in terms of Marty’s anyway. Several times. So when Marty showed up in Buffalo I was delighted. I heard Comedians can get with really cute girls and boys just because they’re funny and sometimes famous. I wonder if it worked for Martin Short? I’d love to see the girls that Martin Short Meats. I can’t put into words how delicious the sandwich is. The bread, even moreso the sauce, even moreso the meat. The Coleslaw is delicious too and complements it perfectly. There’s also an entire mound of meat on there. A lot of trucks skimp out on the good stuff and overcharge you. Marty’s is the opposite. The sandwich is competitively priced well under $ 10 and is an enormous portion of meat and goodies that will fill you up. It’s heavily smoked, heavily cooked(in a good way), heavily sauced, and the taste is explosive and will blow you away. It reminds me a little bit of a Carolina Pork Sandwich, but it’s far better than the vast majority of those that I’ve had. The meat is a little crunchy, and orgasmically juicy. It’s just all so good. You have to try it. I wonder if country singer Martina McBride gets a lot of action. If so, I wonder what kind of guys or girls Martina Meats. I do have a confession, which is that on both times I’ve eaten this utterly phenomenal sandwich, I had to run to the bathroom soon after and it «came right out.» I have no idea if that has to do with the sauce used(which is incredible), or the meat(which is even more incredible). But my little baby Starlight was with me at Larkin(she’s a kitten, by the way), and she had some of the meat, and she was fine. So hopefully you will be too. And anyway, I have a confession. I don’t care if food makes me sick. I don’t care if it has hair in it(I’ve never found one in a Marty’s sandwich). I don’t even factor those things into my rating. It’s all about the taste and the taste of this sandwich is amazing. And as for the furniture maker Ms. Stewart. She was in jail for a bit. I wonder what kind of prison girls Martha Meats when she’s in the slammer. I heard they have recently opened a Store Front. They thoroughly deserve it. They are that good. Come and check them out. Truck or store front, it’s your choice. They’re one of the best Pulled Pork Sandwiches you will ever eat. And I heard that you can score a lot of lovers all in a few days if you go down to The Big Easy for Mardi Gras. Then maybe you can do a Unilocal review of all the Mardi Gras Meats that you sampled.

Stopped at the food truck rodeo. Got the fried chicken sandwich as we saw someone else eating it and had to try it. The piece of chicken was tiny — looked so much smaller than others we had seen and was very soggy. The ranch and Tomato made the bun down right wet — would’ve been better a little toasted initially. The chicken did have some decent flavors — but totally turned off by the soggy roll and price for such a small piece of chicken. I will say the steak and pork sandwiches looked/smelled awesome — so we will likely give them another chance with one of those.

Marty’s Meats is special. They will surprise you with menu items. At the September ’14 Food Truck Rodeo, they offered offal chili. Great idea. These are the kind of menu items that can turn an ordinary food truck to greatness. Marty understands this. Keep up the great work.

I’ve heard good things about Marty’s so when they were at the Park Ave fest without a food truck rodeo line, I decided to give it a try. The Carolina sandwich was big and tasty. The savory pulled pork was topped with sweet slaw and peppery BBQ sauce so appetizing that I was scraping the sauce off the foil. It was sandwiched in between a soft chewy Italian roll from Martusciello Bakery. The sammie hit the spot. The mac salad, however, was not as satisfying. It was average and somewhat too dry for the thick spiral pasta. I look forward to trying another one of their sandwiches.

I’m sad to say that I’ve only been to Marty’s a handful of times despite the food being so damn delicious! These people know how to cook meat and easily provide some of the best BBQ in town. If they actually had a shop somewhere in the city, there is absolutely no question of how regular a regular I would be. Personally for me, I’ve always been a sucker for one of their staples — the Carolina. It’s an intensely flavored pulled pork sandwich mixed with thin julienned matchsticks of apple/carrot slaw covered in a fluffy, super soft bread roll. With every bite, you get just enough bread, a ton of juiciness from the slow-cooked shredded pork, and just the right hit of acidity and freshness from the slaw and tangy barbecue sauce. What makes it perhaps even better is the extra kick the BBQ sauce gives you at the end. It’s as if it’s sending a signal to your body saying«FINISHMENOW.» If you couldn’t tell, these sandwiches don’t ever last very long. I’ll be looking for another bite, but before I know it it’ll be gone. Into my belly. If you ever catch these guys at a festival or food truck meet-up, you’ve got to try them out! The guys are friendly, and the meats and sandwiches are awesome — what more could you ask for?

Barbecue is probably one of my favorite things to get when I’m home in Rochester because there are so many incredible places to get it. However, now Marty’s Meats has popped up and I can never go back to my old BBQ ways. HANDSDOWN best pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had in my life, and I’ve had more than a few pulled pork sandwiches to say the least. Smoked pulled pork, homemade carrot apple slaw, with homemade tangy BBQ sauce… it’s too good to be true! But time and time again it never ceases to amaze. They even make their own chips! Not to mention bahn mi, brisket, red neck nachos if you catch them on a good night… the list goes on and you absolutely cannot go wrong. I always make sure to find them when I’m home — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and a website too, so I can always get my fix! YUM

I was running an errand for work around lunchtime and saw Marty’s Meats parked near the WXXI building. I finished the errand and made a u-turn to get to this food truck. I had their Carolina for the first time at the Park Ave fest, I think, and both my husband and I loved it and have gone back for more since. This time I decided to change it up and got a bahn mi. WOW. So good. And it came with a bottle of water(or a soda, if you’re into that). The bread was nice and not too thick. The pork belly was obvi delicious and the sauce was awesome too. I also loved the veggies they included. It was honestly nice to have this not on french bread for once. It was also pretty big and I couldn’t even finish it so I brought it back to work. Desperate and hungry again around 3:30pm I reheated my bahn mi in the microwave(completely sinful, I know!) and it was STILLGOOD. If I had been at home I would’ve totally done the toaster oven, but the microwave made it work, although according to my husband it prob would have been just as good cold. =) Definitely stop if you see this truck!(Also if you want to be more systematic and less random you can stalk their location using the Roc Food Truck tracker website or Twitter @RocFoodTrucks and @MartysMeats.)

There’s really only 1 question you have to ask yourself when standing in line at Marty’s Meats. «Are they offering chicken wings on their menu?» If so, you must order them. Yes, yes, you must. Even if you(mistakenly!) believe that«ALLWINGSMUSTBESOAKINGINBUFFALOSAUCE», I insist you give Marty’s Meats smoked wings a shot. Smoky, spicy and with absolutely magical crispy skin, you will regret passing on these. Their fried chicken sandwich is also very tasty. They make their own pickles and those really take the fried chicken sandwich to the next level. My co workers thought their pulled pork was superior to the almighty Dinosaur BBQ’s version. The housemade(truck made?) chips on the side are well salted and crispy. I have noticed that they occasionally oversalt things(eg. grilled ramps with teriyaki sauce) but it is not an issue I have seen with their sandwiches. If you are like me and have a spice addiction, request the jalapeño relish on the side to add to anything to make it extra delicious.

These guys really know what they’re doing! Came to the food truck tuesdays and was shocked that they didn’t have a single person in their line. This is definitely one of Rochester’s best food truck along side Le Petit Poutine. I’ve had many samplings from Martys, but something that I love is that their menu is always changing. These guys are always coming up with something better and different to feed their followers. My favorite sandwich would have the be the Country. Deep fried buttermilk chicken sandwich with ranch dressing, lettuce, and pickles. This thing was huge! What I really loved was that they not only dredged the chicken in buttermilk, but it also had hot sauce mixed in which gave it a nice pop. Do yourself a favor and try Martys Meats

I love this food truck. I first tried the food at a Unilocal event and was very impressed with their food. Their take on a banh mi, was one of my favorites that night. For some reason, I didn’t get a chance to try their food again until recently when they set up shop within walking distance from work. The second time, I had their fried chicken sandwich(Country it’s called), without pickles. I guess it’s their take on the famous fried chicken breast sandwich. This sandwich is delicious, the chicken is crispy and meaty, and the bun is delicious. I also got a side of ramps, a lovely seasonal treat with crispy pork skin. Even after my walk back the pork skin was still crispy and the ramps were lovely. I did feel, however, that it was a bit over salted. The next day, the moved, to right in front of my work! So I ordered their burger. The burger came this time with home-made chips and a soda. I was told that sometimes their food comes with sides, if they don’t run out, and the prices change accordingly. The burger was juicy and the bacon was crispy, their sauce, reminded me of a very nicely made Russian dressing. I did feel that the burger and bacon were also a little over-salted, but not so much as to deter for the deliciousness of the meal. If you see this truck, don’t hesitate to get any of their delicious items.

Had the Carolina Sandwich(a Pulled Pork Sandwich with Slaw on it) last night on a rainy, miserable night out at South Wedgeucation. The weather didn’t deter my sandwich eating in the least, this was a real tasty purchase. The guys on the truck were really nice and service was incredibly smooth, something that can always seem to be a problem with food trucks. The truck also looks pretty sharp, I like the name of the place. Food was served in an attractive enough cardboard try which was quite easy to eat in one hand, always a major perk for a food truck(as opposed to some who serve in massive styrofoam containers). The food itself was pretty tasty. The pork was well-cooked and had plenty of smoke flavor, which I like. The slaw was crisp and fresh, probably could have used a little more acid to cut the extra sweetness of the apples, but still nice and tasty. The sauce was mediocre to me because it was so sweet, but I know that a lot of people here in the Northeast like a sweet BBQ sauce rather than a smokey or overly spicy sauce, so I imagine to most the sauce will be a huge plus. As usual with food trucks, I think the prices are outrageous, and I think that’s there’s a huge bubble right now with trucks, but in the end, I think Marty’s Meats will be one that stays around long term, I’d really like to try some of the rest of their menu options.

Inventive and delicious! The beef tongue taco was not something I ever planned on eating but at the insistence of everyone around me, I relented, and was pleasantly surprised! Texture was smooth, tender and not at all what I expected. It was delicious! The wings, I MUST know what these were called? They were drizzled in something, smoky and just the right amount of crispy. Insane. I will officially be stalking this truck from here on out.

I was jonesing for some food and Marty’s Meats came to my rescue parked on South Ave one cold, rainy evening in May. Andre was manning the truck that night and recommended I try the Carolina Pulled Pork sandwich. I was famished so anything would have made me happy, but this was the ticket. It was chock full of pulled pork with their homemade BBQ sauce with a little extra on top. They grilled the roll, added a few of their potato chips and topped it with slaw. The slaw is a nice touch and along with the chips, both add a necessary crunch factor that completes this sandwich. I have to admit I was that kid that put my chips inside my sandwiches at lunch time. Marty’s sando is the grown-up version. After consuming half the roll, I was satisfied and knew I would love the sandwich even more tomorrow for lunch so I wrapped it up and enjoyed it the next day. Truly, it does taste best in all its glory freshly made from the truck so I’d say stick to that, but I wasn’t disappointed with my leftovers. You know, it’s a different craving. Sounds like the tacos are something to try so I’ll be back for that next time.

I love food, I love trucks I like the living HELL out of food trucks! I love the idea of good, quick food for a decent price. I love the mobility, pop up here one day and there the next day. Sadly Rochester is not the best to operate a food truck in, but where there is a will there is a way right? I am a huge fan of Roc City Sammich and Le Petit Poutine. They both serve good good, good portion and charge a fair price. I have seen Marty’s Meats around but nothing really every grabbed my attention on their menu. When I have looked at it online, I think«Well, those are reasonable prices» but when I am standing in front of their food truck… nothing yell out to me. They do rotate their menu though, so maybe I always looked at the wrong time. The thing with a food truck is, some where in your mind you know there is no rent, few employees and a limited menu because their is limited space. I expect to A) Spend less at a food truck then at a brick and mortar place B) Get a larger portion for my money or C) Get something really unique or really good. Preferable you get 2 off these 3. Marty’s sadly got about .5 out of my 3. Doesn’t mean I’d never go back, just means it isn’t something I am going to seek out again. I ordered 2 items. First was a pork belly taco. The pork belly was fried and came out very crispy, it had good texture. That texture was accompanies by the apple-slaw on the taco. There was a slight spice, but not enough for me, it definitely could use a bit more kick, or at least the option. Good slaw to meat ratio butt he apple in the slaw and sweetness in the sauce made a few bites too sweet. This was a great item, and maybe$ 4 is a fair price, but for it me this unique and awesome item was just price too high. Maybe the pork belly should be shredded and mixed with some pork shoulder to bring down cost. $ 3 or 3 for $ 8 is a price I would tell people about, come back for, be happy with. Next up was the Carolina. Typically a Carolina bbq sandwich comes with slaw ON the sandwich, It’s how I like to eat my pulled port. My first bite was a good one, my first thought was smoky. Soft bread briefly grilled to give it a little crispness was a good resting place for everything else. One major miss here was the menu said this came with home made chips, I wasn’t sure if it meant on the sandwich or with it but… no chips came at all. A healthy and fair amount of pork for $ 7 but again no heat. The sweet apple in slaw and the sweet sauce was just too sweet without any kick to go with it. Also, one taco and a couple of bites the bread got soggy, enough to complicate eating this sandwich. BUT, it is bbq so not so much a strike as a warning to eat it in an appropriate setting. My Carolina was OK but no better than Dinosaur or Sticky Lips and it was about the same price. Maybe a little smaller. Mart’s Meats is definitely a decent place to get something to eat, but sadly for me, as much as I wanted to love this place, nothing really set it apart from any other bbq.
