Rude with a capital«R»! Upon arriving in Rochester, I found this place on my GPS and I was really ready to eat some good noodles! However, for no apparent reason, the owners were VERY rude and disrespectful! They didn’t say«hello», «welcome», «thank you» or anything of the kind. They looked at me an almost mean look, as well. It was totally uncomfortable. They also treated me as if they were doing me a favor. Too bad, all I really wanted to do was eat some good food and brag about what I found during my travels on Facebook(like I often do). After paying for my food«to go»(which I originally intended to eat there), I told them about their unacceptable behavior. They didn’t seem to care nor apologize. NEVERAGAININMYLIFETIME!!! If you can’t be at least courteous to me, you DON’T deserve my dollars.

The ONLY place to get Chinese food in Rochester! My boyfriend loves their sweet and sour tofu with broccoli. My favorite is vegetable lo mein with tofu! Small and charming inside. Fast service. Will always be my go-to!

If you really Chinese authentic food come to mings you won’t find #1 or #2 here. This is not your American Chinese food. I love their salt & pepper squid and salt & pepper chicken wings.

Hands down the best Chinese food in all of Rochester. The owners are incredibly kind and the food is amazing. I’ve eaten there so many times that they actually recognize me and my order, and frequently throw in an appetizer or dessert for free. Dining in is great during the day, but because it is such a tiny restaurant it sometimes gets crowded if you go in for dinner on the weekend. I suggest take out, or they even deliver! The sesame tofu is my personal go to meal here but honestly you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!

This is a favorite place of my fathers– he comes here a few times a month bringing new guests each time. I quickly joined the bandwagon and every time I am back in town, going to mings is a MUST! the staff is extremely friendly and very welcoming. The menu is a little extensive but I could assume every single one is delicious! Def try anything with the spicy basil, chicken with mixed veggies, hot and sour soup, wonton soup, fried rice, or basically any noodle dish will be fantastic!

Came here at 9:30PM after a work event. We found it because it was the only place open that had decent food. I was not in the mood for fast food. It’s kind of a hole in the wall family owned restaurant. We literally walked in when the family was having their dinner as well. It Kinda touched me because we noticed that the dad jumped up to tend to us right away and the son followed to ask his dad if he needed help but his dad told him to continue eating. We ordered the Tum yum noodles and the beef bowl to go. I didn’t like the fact that they put the noodles in the soup together in a to go container because by time I got home it was soggy. I wasn’t a fan of the flavor either because this tum Yum soup could’ve been more flavorful and the noodle choice for the beef isn’t typically what I would find for the common beef noodle soup. However I’m the type that likes to support these little family businesses so even though I didn’t enjoy the food as much, I wouldn’t mind coming again. Besides they had other food on the menu so I should give it a try

The BQ fried rice was very flavorful and had a good proportion of rice to the add-ins. If that was all I ordered, I’d rate it well. Sadly, the salt and pepper tofu was not good at all and I ended up throwing it out. At all the places I’ve had salt and pepper tofu, the tofu was silky and almost seemed to melt in your mouth, but here it was spongy. I’m not a prolific tofu eater, but I think they used the wrong type. Additionally, the coating didn’t even make up for it: it was bland and flavorless. Overall, very disappointing. I also ordered a green tea boba. It was sweetened despite the fact that I ordered just the green tea instead of the sweetened with honey option, but I didn’t mind. However, the boba itself was lumpy and seemed to be disintegrating into the drink instead of the relatively compact balls I’ve had before elsewhere. I am willing to give them some leeway on this since I ordered take-out and this might just be what happens when it sits in the drink for a while, but if I ever go there I won’t order it again.

Staff is SUPER quick here and the food is really tasty! This was my favorite place to go for quick pad Thai for about 2 months and I think I might have pad thai’d myself out. I haven’t ordered anything else here but everyone I’ve been with has always enjoyed their meals and the menu is very fairly priced. The restaurant is very small so if you have a bigger group I would suggest going to New mings(also called Mings II) on Monroe.

I’ve come here a few times since they are just a few blocks from my apartment and their lunch specials are inexpensive and tasty. Today I changed things up by dining in and trying the fish soup entrée. I was pleased to find that it was spicy to my liking and had a generous amount of flounder. One of the employees dropped off my soup and never returned. I wanted tap water and had to go up to the counter after finishing my meal to get it. The worst was yet to come; when I got home, I suffered from food poisoning.

Love hole in the wall joints and I was impressed with Ming’s the first time I had went and the service was fine but food was delicious and mouth watering. So I defiantly expected the second time to be to par. I was extremely disappointed. The food was alright not that exciting. I had the miso soup, dumplings, and the vegetable rice, general tso chicken with rice. The food decent but didn’t taste as well as the first time. My biggest issue though and the reason for such a low rating in the review was the service. The lady who took our order took her sweet time(mind you we were the only people there) and spoke in a very rude and dismissive tone. I understand a general culture difference but at least smile at your customers and they can sense if you try to make the comfortable but I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome completely. While we waited for our food she went off to another table sat down and started eating lunch with other people there and never checked up on us until the food was ready. I would have really appreciated if they could have just asked us one more time before they started if we needed anything, just some kind of courtesy would have been nice. So all in all it did not live up to what is was like the first time and I probably would not go back again.

Good points, quick delivery and good flavor for the salt and pepper squid Bad points: the delivery guy couldn’t figure out how to get to suite 200 when he arrive(there is a signed to go upstairs, but he missed it), the shrimp was mushy, the sauce tasted like straight grease, the pork fried rice was dry and oily. Overall, I am unimpressed and will not be ordering from here again.

Attempted to order here via grubhub. The original time of order was 45 – 60 minutes which was reasonable. The order was placed by 1915. I got a text which informed me that the order would be delivered between 2020 and 2030. By 2020 I didn’t receive a follow up text which is abnormal. 2030 and its still not here. 2040 and I call to have an employee tell me they had just spoken of my address and that its on its way. 2110 and STILL no food. I call again only to hear that, somehow, the order from grubhub didn’t appear until then, despite the fact that the employee I spoke to at 2040 stated she had gotten it. They asked if I’d like to wait or cancel the order. Waiting would take another 20 minutes. Sweet deal guys. I know it’s a snowy night but that’s ridiculous. Get your act together.

Kinda bummed ordered beef phở and it arrived with no broth just noodles, my friends did too. They admitted to forgetting rice but insisted the noodles absorbed ALL the broth. There was just beef no seasoning just small 2 inch noodles . They did come back and make us happy ! Gave us broth and rice! Kudos to the driver

Ming’s on South Clinton(NOT to be confused with NEWMING on Monroe) is our go-to place for American-Chinese food. The service is fast. Kelly, the owner is quite friendly. Our favorite dish is the Sesame Tofu and we always get it extra spicy. This is a take-out kind of environment. I have enjoyed it many times… My one wish is that the veggies seemed market fresh EVERYTIME. Sometimes, the veggies seem better than others. But the sesame tofu is consistently delicious

I got the beef noodle soup and it was alright. Not overly flavorful or filling. Kind of bland for my tastes. I know someone who swears that this is one of the best Chinese foods in Rochester. He however says that its kind hit or miss. Hopefully my next experience is a little better.

Yes the place has an incredible selection of Asian cuisine. However, they are extremely inconsistent with the food. I’ve ordered the Jja Jiang Myun several times now after a good experience with the dish on my first visit. Unfortunately, it tasted different every time and definitely not as good as the first time. Also this place is primarily for takeout. I went once in the summer and the AC wasn’t all that effective so I was sweating the entire time.

TAKEOUT review: Place was dead empty on a Thursday evening around 9:30pm. I was afraid they were all cleaned up and wouldn’t want to dirty the pots for just one lowly girl’s take out order, but oh no. The lady didn’t miss a beat as she took my order, asking if it was to stay or to go. Boy was I happy to hear her say«yes we take credit card. 10 minutes». Highlights: — they take Amex — quick service– truly a 10 minute wait — cheap prices — friendly staff Got dumplings, an egg roll and sesame cold noodles. I always look forward to these tried and true classics, and I’m happy to report that Ming’s got the job done.

I really love Ming’s! It’s a small nook-in-the-hole Chinese restaurant right outside the South Wedge and has remained awesome for at least 10 years. I would say of all things, they really specialize in noodles and allow for what feels like a million different combinations with all of the different meats and noodle-types they offer. Seriously, there’s like 20+ different noodle types and at least 10 different meats/seafood/poultry you can order with it. Then they just work their magic with whatever sauce you like and you’ll be whisked away to a world of happy eating! I’m particularly fond of udon and the mai fun definitely! For appetizers, there’s also a ton of winners — salt and pepper squid, salt and pepper tofu, pan fried pork dumplings — all really delicious! It feels like the same family has been running it these past 10 years because I always see the same chef and head-of-house whenever I go in and they are the sweetest people ever. If you eat in too, they’ll also give you some fruit on the house to cleanse your palette and it’s just perfect! A+ in my book for eating, if eating out, there might be a little bit of a wait since customers there already will take precedence

It’s funny, I rarely get Chinese takeout these days. When I was in college it was often a weekly treat for us on a Friday or Saturday night. What I think of is quick, easy, greasy, unhealthy and indulgent. American Chinese food is something you can’t really deny yourself. Well, I finally had Ming’s. Pleasantly surprised to say it’s not as greasy as some Chinese takeout I’ve had elsewhere. I was thankful for that. Although, we did order Cashew Chicken and it’s mostly fried batter rather than juicy chicken pieces. But it was delicious. It hit the spot and I loved the carrots and celery thrown in. We also had the vegetable lo mein. I liked the noodles — they’re flatter, kind of like linguine and a nice light pan sear on them. There was a good variety of vegetables — asparagus, carrots, celery, kale and squash. The asparagus was a little bitter and the squash was overcooked. All in all, decent takeout and cheap! Under $ 15 for 2, plus leftovers.
