I came here for lunch and ordered a chicken florentine. The panini tasted like a pasta in a sandwich. The chicken had a smoked/grilled taste combined with the pesto mayo and other ingredients, it was delicious. One of the employees offered me water as I waited for my food. I look forward to coming back here and also trying the mac and cheese. You can pay before or after you eat. There’s a small selection of groceries items.

I am updating my past review. I went again on Saturday out of necessity, but decided I could give this place a second try to see if it would redeem itself. The restaurant was much cleaner than the last time I was in, and it was still busy, so that must have been a very off day. In fact, it was very cozy inside. Several groups of people were dining and having conversation, one customer was just reading a book. The lights were cozy, and it was warm inside, a nice place to sit and wait while your food is being prepared. I kept it simple and ordered two chicken parm sandwiches and a side of macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was very good. Creamy, but not overdosed with mayo, and very flavorful. However, the chicken parms had no flavor whatsoever. The cheese, sauce, and meat were all bland. There was hardly any sauce, and that’s really where the flavor could have come from. It’s too easy to make a good chicken parm sandwich, so while I bumped their rating up from 1 star to 3, since it was«just ok» I really don’t think I will be back. Two chances is enough for me.

We’ve ordered here for lunch from work. Salads are pretty good and changes every week. A solid place for lunch.

Love this place!!! Food is so delicious and fresh. Nice menu with a lot of options to choose from. Also a little deli to buy some stuff to go. Can’t say enough good things about the chicken florentine sandwich.

This place is wonderful! I eat lunch here quite frequently and I have never been disappointed. They use high quality ingredients in everything they make and you can taste the difference. Their menu isn’t huge but everything on there is done to perfection. I suggest trying their shaved steak sandwich or their chicken florentine sandwich.

Cute grocery/café. My son got a burger that was so overly salted he could not eat it. I took a bite and it was virtually saltcrusted. Ick. My daughter got a grilled ham and cheddar sandwich. It was ok, a bit light on the cheese. I had the beet and goat cheese salad. That was very good. Overall, the shop is cute, but the food was mehh.

Everything I’ve gotten from here has been delicious. 4.5 from me. Some of my favorites: — Beet salad — Reuben — Jalapeño burger — Shaved steak This is one of the few places I will pick up from for dinner on the way home from work. They have never gotten the order wrong; it’s always ready quickly; the food is freaking delicious. I also love that they have treats from Cheesy Eddie’s. It’s also a little market but I’ve never shopped there. If you dine in, it’s almost like a little restaurant except you order at the counter. Awesome place.

For the type of place this is, it is pretty awesome. A wide variety of unique beverages and upscale food options are available. Walk to the back and there is a kitchen counter where you can order from a wide variety of menu items as well as daily specials. I had the Sole with pumpkin seeds, butter squash and apple sauce and it was pretty amazing.

This is a cute little grocery store/café with the greatest breakfast sandwiches in Rochester. I have tried many breakfast sandwiches in this town, and the maple sausage in this sandwich makes it stand out from all the rest.

I really enjoy cooking which makes going out to eat more difficult because I’m often disappointed. When I don’t feel like cooking I can confidently come to Mise en Place for a good meal. Although, more expensive than cooking for myself, this place has become a trustworthy staple for dinner. Sometimes coming back several times in a week. My favorite part about this place is their nightly specials menu. They never disappoint and always provide enough variety to make me keep coming back. Must try their mac n cheese, garbage plate(gourmet style with crunchy onions), seasonal butternut squash soup and my all time favorite specials chicken pot pie and clam chowder with clams and yellowfin tuna!

Best freakin sandwich I ever had. Stopped by in a rush and ordered a turkey Ruben to go. Ate half of it on my way to an appointment and couldn’t stop thinking about eating the other half(which was even better an hour later). I found my new favorite lunch place.

YUM! Fresh, tasty roasted beet salad with almonds and goat cheese. Herb dressing in perfect balance! Part store, with a few wooden tables, nice friendly wait staff – order at the deli counter and they’ll bring the food to your table. Efficient welcoming and courteous. If I lived here, would def come back to try more menu items.

Woah. The made to order food here is amazing. I’ll keep this short and sweet. After a Saturday at the market, Rochester was still half asleep with most brunch joints still closed. While walking around in the South Wedge attempting to find something yummy and OPEN, we found ourselves at Mise en Place Market. My buddy went with just an egg and cheese sammich while I opted for more meat with the Maple Sausage, egg cooked with the yolk still jelly like(my fave!), and sharp cheddar. I swear they use the Yancey’s stuff. I can’t express how fresh everything tasted. The sausage reminded me of the freshness you find at Costanza’s. I was very happy to see that they use ingredient in store… just in case you want to attempt the same results in your own kitchen. With all this said, I will keep Mise en Place in mind for the next time Rochester is still asleep on Public Market Saturdays :)

This little gem masquerades as a «corner store». Sure you can find the basics as well as some interesting specialty items. But the food that’s offered«to order» is consistently good. There is a selection of standards and daily specials. Yes, parking is often an issue, but this place is worth the effort !

Let me just start by saying that this review is all encompassing(food, place, service, etc). This little place is a neat spot if you work or live in the immediate(walkable) area. Trying to find a parking spot can be frustrating since there are a lot of other cool places, bars, restaurants, apartment close by. The place itself is fine. Nothing overly exciting or breathtaking about the interior. It’s a small restaurant with a small, extremely overpriced«store» on the inside. I can only assume that those who don’t want to leave the wedge and travel to Wegmans will pay those prices. Service was great. The guys behind the counter were very friendly and one kept checking in on us(and could tell we were first-timers because he had never seen us before). The food… the food was awesome. I ordered the cordon blue burger. It was pretty big and cooked to perfection and it had amazing flavor($ 8.75) My husband got a chicken parm sub and it was gigantic($ 10) and my little one ordered a grilled ham and cheese($ 7.00). The prices don’t seem terrible, but they didn’t include a side item. Those were and additional $ 2-$ 3 more! I would go there again and again for the food but I have such a hard time spending that much for a burger without a side.

$ 3.99BREAKFASTSANDWICHES(egg, meat, cheese on a roll/english muffin/toast) BOAR’S HEAD cold cuts $ 1.59OJ!!! Juice drinkers know this is a steal I don’t know how they survive on these prices, but I’m not going to question it. The other random things they have are very reasonably priced, especially for a convenience store(i.e. $ 1.99 for Maple Grove Farms salad dressing, $ 1.99 for Pop Corners chips). There are a couple of tables to sit at if you wish to dine in. Service was not the friendliest, but whatever. I’m still smiling from my $ 6 breakfast that was fresh, made quick, and tasted delicious. Accepts Amex. Closed on Sundays.

I had heard so many great things about this place and the fact that they had Boars Head deli meat made me excited. Unfortunately The excitement was short lived. I walked in about an hour and a half before their closing hours and wanted to buy some assorted meats because not many places carry Boar’s Head. They told me the slicer was shut down for the night(A slicer takes about 15 minutes to clean). They told me I could get the pre sliced ham… So much for assorted meats. Needless to say, I went across the street to Harry Gs and got all the Boars Head meat I wanted, and was served with a smile and for better prices. Won’t be returning to this place again.

Mise en Place is a grocery store and deli and is a solid choice for lunch. I especially like their«drunken» sausage that is cooked in beer and ground fresh. I couldn’t be mad the one time I ordered it and they didn’t have any ready because they were literally grinding the meat. They have a good Mac & Cheese and sandwich selection. They also keep a nice variety of craft brews in stock. There is parking behind the building and a rear entrance for your convenience.

Someone recommended I try the battered fish fry here the other day. Now, I love myself some fried fish, but couldn’t even finish half my place. Too greasy for me to stomach. Fries were terrible(I have strong opinions on fries — so you might disagree if you like soggy shoe-string fries). Three stars is pretty generous for this review. I’m just loathe to commit too strongly to one side when I’ve only tried one item on the menu. Plus the shop is super cute and seems like a place I would frequent. Hoping to come back sometime and give the other items on the menu a try.

I have been to Mise En Place for eat in/takeout at both lunch and dinner. I have never ordered the same thing twice and yet have never been disappointed. You order at the counter near the food display case. I have tried the seafood special a few times. The seafood always tasted fresh and the portion was appropriate for the cost. I also tried the shaved steak sandwich. The quality and quantity of the steak made it well worth the $ 8. If you are eating in, you pay at the cashier(located near the front of the store) and then take a seat. Someone brings you your food. If you are doing takeout, the food is handed to you at the same counter you ordered(and then proceed to pay at the cashier). The flow here is slightly wonky(probably because of the grocery area). The prices here seem slightly steep at first but the quality of the ingredients easily makes this place my first choice for a sandwich in this area. The service is also very helpful and friendly(eg. when I was torn about which soup to get, they let me sample all of them.) Parking can be difficult. They do have a few spots you can park in in the lot behind the building but otherwise it is on street parking only. I took off one star because a friend got their mac and cheese and was not thrilled. I tried some and it had slightly dried out(probably due to the steam table). Also, their groceries seem a touch pricey but I suppose that is the cost of convenience. I personally wouldn’t go grocery shopping here. Mise en Place might have some very minor issues to work out for the food they prepare ahead of time but nothing that will keep me away!
