Hung out here with friends a few weeks ago. I am a cider fan so I had high expectations. However, I found the cider extremely flat and the ambiance very dark and drab. I wouldn’t make it a point to go back, however, it wasn’t terrible, either.

Perfect place for a post-work drink and snack. The inside is industrial looking with extremely high ceilings so be prepared for it to be chilly in the colder months. I happened to stop in around 5 or 6 with a group of three others. At this time, their kitchen still wasn’t open so most of their small plates were unavailable. What was available was their kettle corn. We decided on seasonal corn with cinnamon, nutmeg, and apple chips. It was the perfect balance of salty and sweet. I also kind of lucked out. A cider maker from a local cidery happened to be there. He along with the bartender helped us pick out ciders for flights that would best suit out tastes. What was great — he didn’t try to push every cider from his own cidery and instead was completely honest with what he thought we would like best. Great spot! Can’t wait to try it out during the warmer months when I don’t have to wear my hat and gloves inside.

Ok, I do agree what people say, when you walk in all the cold air comes in… It’s a large industrial space. Long bar and a bunch of tables and high type chairs and a long type bar to sit as well. Now the list of ciders are vast,(NY State, France, England, Ireland, Scotland and Germany &USA) They seem to have local or in area ciders on tap and they also have a list of that on chalkboard. If your not sure what to have try a flight it’s $ 14 or depending on what cider you get by the glass it can go from $ 6 and up. They have people behind the bar and all are very helpful but as it becomes later they get slammed and it seems they only have two people taking care of everything and everyone. One tip… the kitchen closes at 9 pm. We had no idea we just wanted the House Made Kettle Popcorn. So we did not get it. Now as being an establishment that serves libations(alcohol) you would think a salty/sweet treat would negate ordering more booze? Maybe it’s just me? But the crowd is a different group of ages and that’s cool. It’s basically down the way from Joe Bean. Parking is on the street. They ONLYHAVECIDER. No Wine or Beer… It’s a CIDERHOUSE. Seating is comfort wise ok… If your looking for a comfortable chair it’s not happening. I’ll be back but I’ll order the popcorn ASAP! Excellent list of ciders and a lovely thing to have here in Rochester. Bring your friends, have a pint and enjoy.

Lots of potential here. As a cider fan, I was excited to give this spot a try. They have sweet, dry, local, international options in bottles and on tap. It was a bit overwhelming walking in to the space not knowing exactly what to order(lots on tap and in bottles) so we immediately wanted suggestions from the bartenders. They were accommodating and helpful and gave us an array of options to sample. My friend and I both had a flight, which came with 4 tastings. Although the bartender we ordered from had someone else pour the ciders so when they were handed to us the guy didn’t know he had to explain each one since we had the bartender decide for us. So we sat for a few minutes until someone came by us again to tell us what we were drinking. Slight miscommunication there, but I’ll chalk it up to the busy happy hour(there were two big groups there that night). We also had a meat and cheese board — opted for two meats($ 12) and two cheeses($ 10). The salami was banging! The prosciutto was not. Sliced too thick so it was really chewy and unflattering to try and eat while having a conversation. I won’t get that again unless it’s thinly sliced in the future. Also, more cheese please! There was barely enough to share between 2 people and for the price, not economical. The jam and the pickles that come along with it are a tasty touch. Overall the space is cool — an industrial vibe, a little chilly so bring a sweater(granted it’s winter in ROC so you should always have an extra layer). Good spot to meet cider-loving friends for a night out or grab a drink before you head to dinner.

I wasn’t sure what this place was before I got there. I was under the impression that they made cider. The actually are a bar… with only cider. Interesting concept. I like the interior, kinda«industrial chic.» They have a good variety of hard cider, and a smattering of food selection. My only turn off are the prices. A flight of four costs $ 14. I am a big fan of sampler flights, but that is REALLY expensive. They offered one cider at &5, the next at $ 7, and up… and up and up. I would go back here again, but it would probably be for a drink to kill time on my way elsewhere.

Great unique place for Rochester. Fantastic cider selection and the kettle corn is delicious. They provide a very open environment for encouraging exploration. Who knew cider as a drink had so much breadth and depth? Can get a bit loud at times… concrete floor and walls, and high ceilings. Due to the high ceilings and bare warehouse that they are located in, it can get a bit chilly during the winter. A definite must go, and will be coming back. Cannot wait to see what else pops up on this section of University… all thanks to Joe Bean being the pioneers!

Cool concept and interesting layout, I think that they have some kinks to work out with service but they were friendly at least. My coworker was crazy about the ciders. My panini was great:)

This place is open and laid back. Staff was absolutely friendly and explained the different ciders they offered. If you’re new to ciders, I’d recommend doing a flight. My only reason this is a 4 star instead of 5 are the following: — The cider options for the flights are listed but there are no mention of your of flavor(dry, sweet…). This would reduce the need to ask which are sweet, dry ot semi. — This venue, though great, has minimal seating options. Especially if you’re a large group(more than 4), you’ll want to know that you’ll likely be standing. Not a deal breaker but worth a mention.

If this past Saturday afternoon was any indication Mullers is already a hit, but I do not feel compelled to come back anytime soon. Location: I do not live in the city but this place is out of the way and you can literally drive right past the place due to signage that blends into the color of the building. Space: Minimalist but comfortable. Yes this is a warehouse. Yes the layout is different. I did appreciate the big windows as we sat at a table in the sun. Observations: What is with the space heater up close to the ceiling? Also, what is with the fake plants? Service: Amateurish and too opinionated. I am not new to cider but I am not an expert either. I know what styles I like but am open to trying new things too. When I mentioned a particular local cider they carry I was met with a negative shake of the head and«I don’t like that producer, their cider tastes like Angry Orchard», um, no it doesn’t. The cider(Rootstock) comes in varied styles and I prefer the dry one but OK, I will try the $ 9 glass you recommended. 2 glasses of cider, $ 17.00, ouch. Food: We wanted to order but no one made eye contact after we grabbed a seat. They were too busy clearing off 2 tables and that project took way too long and took 2 people?!? I did appreciate the option of gluten free bread with the charcuterie and pâté. Crowd: Douche bag city even @ 2:30PM on a Saturday afternoon. One group had hogged the barstools with jackets and purses but they also stood at a table with friends forcing us to find space away from the bar they were hogging. They essentially had entitled themselves to prime bar seating and table seating as well. Jerks. We finished our delicious ciders and split. We headed to our favorite dive bar and enjoyed the value of a $ 41911 and hard alcohol option. Advice: There is a missed opportunity with the lack of knowledge regarding the range of styles of ciders they offer. The bottle menu is interesting but I am not willing to spend $ 20, $ 30, $ 40 on a bottle of cider unless I know the flavor profile. The menu needs a scale of dry to sweet, IMO. Truth be told the $ 9 cider I was drinking on tap was $ 11 by the bottle. Prime example of why I will not be returning anytime soon, the bartender should have known or suggested that. If this was my new business I would make sure the faces of my business were: friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming.

I sauntered on into Mullers at around 5:30 on a Sunday, so it wasn’t too poppin’ but that was nice all the same. Four of us pulled up chairs to the bar and ordered different items. Michael turned me into a serious cider aficionado, and many of the drafts that were local I have tasted before. For $ 14, you can get a flight of four different types. When I saw that 1911 had a new kind the guy taking care of us let me have a taste of it before I made my choices. Aside from the drafts the clip board had pages of different selections specifying their origin. I highly recommend tasting anything from Brittany, France, Deerishiss. They have a few paninis on the menu, a soup of the day, and a dessert of the day. You can also grab a charcuterie or cheese plate. Their kettle corn is $ 3, and they have a featured seasonal bag of kettle corn for $ 5. The current seasonal has cinnamon and dried apples mixed in. I ordered the regular kettle corn and it was awesome. Let’s be real, I dogged it. I have to agree with some previous review that it isn’t super cozy inside, but that’s okay. They just opened, they are working their concept, and I can handle some hard chairs while downing a few ciders. Give em’ some time.

I met a few friends here last night for a drink, and as a non-beer drinker, I was down to check out a cider house — a welcome addition to the Rochester scene. I had zero idea of its location, luckily my friend said it was right near Joe Bean, a good marker. You’d drive right by it if you weren’t looking for(I drive down University all the time and never noticed it; the signage melds into the building colors/décor). I agree with others that the entrance/set up is a little strange. It’s not a huge space, but airy enough and styled in an industrial style. The bar is directly in front of you when you walk in, with tables on either side(to the left there are high top/bar style seating and several tables), with a large empty space in the middle for people mingling(reminded me of space for bar«spillover»). Last night was particularly cold and windy, and because the door has no curtain or other protector, you open the door and let in a blast of cold air for all the patrons, making a quiet entrance practically impossible. I’d like to see them utilize that middle space a bit more; feels kinda awkward. However, I like the minimalist/industrial feel; very sleek and clean. They have a clipboard full of ciders for you to try: cheaper stuff from NY, all the way up to fancy schmancy stuff from France. Dry, sweet, hoppy, spiced, fruity: there is something for everyone. Yay! My friend was drinking a sweeter cider and although very tasty, I’m a dry alcohol girl. My other friend and I bellied up to the bar and it was busy and full on this Friday night at 8pm. A bartender noticed us and motioned for us to come around to the side. We told him what we wanted, taste-wise, one dry cider and one«in the middle» and put ourselves in his hands. We ended up with two very interesting and tasty drinks: mine was dry, light and almost refreshing; I could see getting into trouble with this in the summer; it was almost too easy to drink and I didn’t feel gross like I do with mainstream/grocery store cider which can be sickeningly sweet. My friend’s was hoppy and intense, and in his words«it’s very hoppy, but not in the beer way». We liked it, as did our staunch sweet drinks only friend. They both were on the affordable side: $ 14 for the two oft them. Sadly, I did not get the names of them. The bartender didn’t tell us the names. If I was planning to be there for a while, I would have totally opted for the $ 14 flight of four ciders. Especially as someone who has little knowledge of ciders, I think it’s a great option. I do agree with other reviews, I wish the menu gave a little overview of each cider — if you aren’t an enthusiast, it makes picking something crazy difficult. I’m thinking if they can get the education and more informative piece down, they’ll be even better. All in all, I’ll be back. It’s a great concept, lots of options, and lower key. Just make sure you dress in layers if you come here during our winters!

If you enjoy cider, this is definitely the place for you! I met a girlfriend out, and we decided to do flights. We ordered the same style(dry), but we both received different flights, which was fantastic, because we ended up sharing both so that we could try more varieties. We also ordered a cheese board and a meat board. They were a bit slim on the amount of cheese you received(3 small chunks of each kind), but the meat portion was perfect, and the pickles and marmalade were a tasty addition as well! Pros: — Great cider selection(I will definitely be back to work down the list!) — Friendly staff. I was asked by several different people if I had been helped(which was nice, considering I was waiting for my friend to arrive before ordering, so I was standing back from the bar). Cons: — Lack of education about the cider. They are listed by region, with absolutely no descriptions to tell you if they are on the dry or sweet side, fruity, floral, earthy, etc. And when our flights arrived, they were put in front of us and then the server walked away, with no explanation as to what they were, or what we could expect. It may have been an off night, but if we had some kind of information on the menu, we would have been happy to look them up ourselves! — Drafty door situation. Every time the front door opened, it was chilly, I kept my coat on my lap like a blanket most of the time. It would be great if they did what you see in NYC with the curtained entry(you even see this locally at Cure or Nox), it really helps to keep the chill out! — Awkward layout. When you step inside, the whole room turns because you let in all of the cold air. There’s no transition into the space itself. It also feels very cold aesthetically(unrelated to outside temps) — lots of concrete and metal, not very welcoming in feel. It’s not a place I would go just to hang out and have a beverage at. Overall I enjoyed my experience, and will be back to try more selections. I would really love to see more education however, which I feel is the whole point of a specialty space like this.(That’s half the fun!) Otherwise, it’s not a space I would just go to hang out in given the atmosphere.

The cider is good but the atmosphere sucks. They need to redecorate and put in more seating options. I enjoyed my one visit but it’s not a place I would frequently go to. EDIT — thanks for the response! I will be back to check out the updated look. The cider was definitely interesting enough for a second look, and every place deserves a second chance

Mullers is such an innovative idea; I love it! I am more a fan of cider than beer, and as part of a couple that loves to get flights and try new drinks, this was a great change up for a date location. The cider assortment is wonderful, with about a dozen options on tap and many more to choose from on the menu. Our favorites ended up being the ciders with added fruits, like cranberry apple or black cherry apple. The staff was extremely friendly and helped choose the ciders for my flight based on my preferences. Food is available, and while we didn’t order any, all of the food that came out of the kitchen looked really fresh and great! I think the only downside is the amount of seating. Especially on the weekends, you will have to wait for a table or for two seats next to each other at the bar. This is a great location for a post-work drink. Definitely check it out!

Cool place with incredible selection of ciders. If you are a connoisseur of cider this place will definitely be worth the visit. Grab a flight and enjoy the selection. Only thing I didn’t enjoy was that every time the door opened you could feel the cold draft.

Overall, I really liked this bar an think it has good potential. There are still a few kinks to work out, and the biggest one for me is the sign. It was really hard for me to see the sign from walking on the sidewalk and it was so high up. Also, it was unclear where I could park without getting towed. I thought the inside was decorated really well and I really liked the selection of ciders. The staff was really awesome too. They checked on us often, but weren’t too all over us. One thing to note is that they really only have ciders, no beer or wine. I don’t mind that, but I think it would be important to know before you go there.

A must go if you are a cider aficionado! Definitely a unique experience to learn about and try some really fantastic ciders from different geographic regions — try the Spanish varieties, very different and complex. «Flights» from the tap are available, and seemed a popular option. At first glance, bottle options seem pricey, but really aren’t as most(if not all) are large 750ml bottles that can be shared(or not!). Tasting notes on the menu would have been a plus, but the owners were on hand, who were quite able and enthusiastic to offer info and/or suggestions. As for the food menu… items seem to be selected aiming to pair well with cider. Pretty limited, but I liked the cheese plate and kettle corn.

Mullers succeeds at what I think it aims to do, introduce you to ciders from all over the world. The front from the outside is nonchalant. You can very easily miss it if you are not looking for it. I think the entire place is in the process of evolution based on feedback so that might change. The décor is minimalist/industrialist. There are quite a few dining tables as well as bar seating. There’s a TV screen, specials and some menu items up on the wall. I don’t recall any impressive wall art. On to the ciders. These were chilled to a very refreshing temperature which is extremely important for an enjoyable beverage but you already knew that. There is a wide variety(and price range) of ciders you can try with the cheapest from New York. My suggestion would be to go for a flight. They let you choose 4 different ciders for $ 14 for your flight. The 1911 cider was the favorite. There were other good ones too but I can’t remember specifics. As for the food. Meh. The kettle corn was good to snack on. The cheese plate with Brie and Cheddar was decent. It came out with orange marmalade which was a good touch. The bread accompanying the cheese was okay. The sandwiches on the other hand(tried the grilled cheese and turkey) were dry and generic and cost $ 10 each which seemed a bit much for the quality we got. But again this place is not really selling itself for a gourmet food experience so I guess you can let that fly by. They need to make the place warmer and put a screen in front of the main door. Every time anyone enters or leaves the place the entire room fills up with cold air causing testicular ascent which is undesirable and likely non-physiological at «room temperature». Brownie points for having Gluten Free options. The apple(s) in this case will NOT keep this doctor away. I’ll be back for the cider. I might snack. I will eat elsewhere.

Who wouldn’t want another niche bar in our beloved Rochester? Welcome to Mullers! Slightly out of the way on University near Jitters it’s home to dozens of different hard ciders. A small food menu compliments the wide variety of yummy drinks which tips out with a $ 40375ML bottle of French cider. There are plenty of more affordable options as well so don’t let the high rollers scare you off. It has a small footprint but uses the space well with a bar for 10 and additional seating for around 30. The small size keeps it feeling unique and the modern decore and clean lines make it modern.
