I was literally just speaking to the proprietor of Snow Daze last week and I said, «I wish there were a way to Unilocal about moving targets like food trucks because I want to tell the world about you.» Well, now I can! Snow Daze offers gourmet snow cones from the coolest looking retro trailer(see pictures). Using local and organic ingredients whenever possible, the strawberry rhubarb snow cone(as Janice A. has mentioned), is outstanding and a big improvement over the red-40 and high fructose corn syrup-based concoction that Mr. Ding-a-Ling brings around is a good value at $ 4. Currently, Snow Daze can be found at two of my favorite farmers markets. She’s at the South Wedge market on Clinton and Alexander behind Boulder Coffee on Thursday evenings and is at the Brighton Market on Sunday mornings. Definitely a delicious, healthful option for those warm summer days of market shopping.

Everything about Snow Daze is amazing, from the adorable trailer to the delicious flavors all the way to the price tag. You have to admit, $ 4 for a cup of ice is amazing… but it’s also worth the special treat. I wouldn’t flinch at spending the same on a hot fudge covered Abbott’s sundae, or a frozen blended coffee drink. The snow cone falls into the same cold sweet treat category, but without most of the calories. That’s based simply on the assumption that a squirt of flavorful fruit syrup isn’t as much as a bowl full of frozen cream and sugary chocolate. The price tag isn’t really based on the cost of the product, in this case it’s simply what a warm-weather dessert is worth. That’s entirely fair, now isn’t it? The price becomes more than fair when that sugary treat is a culinary pleasure. I opted for the tried and true Strawberry. At Snow Daze, it isn’t just strawberry, however. No, they give you Strawberry Rhubarb. It really was more than just simple strawberry. After one bite, I felt as though I was eating a space-age pie that had been turned into goo to be transported easily across the stars to a new human colony where a special food machine would re-expand it into a slice of Strawberry Rhubarb pie, but instead, it was poured over ice to bring delight to both my 2 year old and me. My husband tried the raspberry, I think it was actually just plain old raspberry, but he seemed very enthusiastic about his choice and didn’t share. Don’t feel bad, we didn’t share with him, either.
