OUTSTANDING!!! Their dry aged NY Strip Steak was amazing. Also, no where should lump crab with a lobster reduction be soooo delicious. Our streaks were cooked to perfection. We dined in a private booth in the back of the restaurant. Perfect for couples. The restaurant is upscale with valet service and a coat check. Tournedos is great for anniversaries, birthdays or just for the heck of it. Definitely worth trying if you’re in the area. My husband and I are glad we don’t live in the area, we would be dining here at least once a month. Happy eating!!!

I consider Tournedos as one of the few world class steak restaurants in upstate NY. The dinner was superb as expected. The 8oz wagyu steak was perfectly marbled and cooked to perfection. Unfortunately the wait staff gave my rare steak to my wife & serves me a medium rare 8oz tenderloin. The explanation was even worse than the error. I was told I had the right stake but it was over cooked. Over cooked wagyu? At a hefty price of $ 70.00? What a travesty. So much for desert & brandy.

Ehhhh I am not a fan of a la carte places. It’s hard for me to pay $ 50 for a steak and not have one side come with that. The sides are around $ 8 each and I think that that is too much for sides that I can make it home. We got the cream spinach, brussel sprouts and a side of asparagus that we never received. Neither the spinach nor the brussel sprouts were outstanding enough for me to justify paying $ 8 for them. I’m far from cheap, I’m all for purchasing an expensive meal, if it’s worth it. but i dont think it was. We also got the crab cake which was a normal size, but was 18 dollars. To me, not worth it. This place reminds me of the Strathallen which I’m also not a fan of. The meat comes out on a plate all by itself and I think it is poor presentation. A small piece of filet on a large plate by itself is a very strange concept to me. Why does anyone think that that looks good? Put the side that we ordered on the plate with the steak, geez. We ran out of room on the table. I also ordered the filet Trio, which was filet done 3 ways. It was cooked the way I like it, medium rare. The meat was worth the price but I still want a side to come with it LOL
Now to the service… we requested the bar lounge area. The bartender was the only person taking care of a full bar and all the tables surrounding the bar. Our reservations were for 6:30 on a Friday night. Someone needed to be helping her because everything took forever. No Lie, it took 20 minutes for us to get a glass of water, another 10 minutes for some bread and we rarely saw her during our meal. She apologized saying that she was extremely busy, but we shouldn’t have to suffer because of it.

We went to Tourendos with good friends with whom we spend an evening-​out once or twice a year. We had a reservation at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. Food is outstanding. Servers are pleasant, but not warm. We had a $ 125 «Tournedos» gift card given to us by guests who stayed in our house a few years ago. Our server stated that his manager told him that they have not accepted the card for four years, and we were given no credit for the card. The four of us ate an entire meal, including deserts. After paying nearly $ 400, at 8:50 pm, the hostess came to our table and stated that there were people waiting to be seated, and she asked us to leave our table. A very disturbing ending to an otherwise enjoyable evening.

The food & atmosphere is excellent, but it is very expensive. The kind of place to go for a special occasion.

Absolutely fabulous! This is by far the best restaurant in Rochester. The service was excellent; the food was phenomenal. We started with warm crusty bread and garlic roasted dipping oil… so delicious. For our entres everyone in my party ordered steak. They were all cooked perfectly. We had four sides to share, creamed spinach, Brussels sprouts, Yukon gold mashed potatoes with truffle butter, and onion rings. They were all so good. We also shared two desserts, bananas foster and a chocolate truffle torte. Each bite better than the last. We were so full but could not stop ourselves from devouring them.
The service was attentive without being overbearing. I’ve been to other upscale restaurants that give off a pretentious air but not Tournedos. At the end of the meal the complimentary house made chocolate truffles were a nice surprise and free valet parking was much appreciated on a cold winter’snight. Perfection from start to finish.
If you want a wonderful meal, go to Tournedos but be prepared to pay for it. It’s quite pricey but worth every cent.

My fiancé is a steak lover so I took him here for our 10 year anniversary. This place is expensive but worth every penny of it. He got the wagyu steak and I got the special, steak. We ordered one side of mash potatoes and there was enough to share between the both of us. He said it was the best piece of steak he’s had in his life and I totally agree. He can’t stop talking about it. I highly recommend coming here if you are a steak lover.

wagyu Strip steak cooked medium tasted a little burnt, but the wagyu ribeye cooked medium rare was beyond delicious. Service was excellent along with a large selection of wine. Splitting the sides is a great way to try many different foods.

I have been coming here for possibly 10 years. I believe this truly is the best steakhouse in Rochester
But more so I believe this restaurant is just as good of a Steakhouse as most places in big cities. I have been going to top steak houses for over 30 years, from New York City to San Francisco to Maui from Chicago to Miami. I am not saying this is the very best I’m saying it’s on the same level. The service is always perfect.
If you can live with the price, and believe me it is expensive you will have a great time.

Came here for a corporate event. The location in an old inn was pretty cool. The place is nice, but slightly dated. We had a great private room with plenty of space and seating. Service was wonderful, steaks were on point, the sides were so-​so (hence 4 stars).

I’ve celebrated so many special occasions here. It’s a special place to me. I love the valet and coat check. The space is beautiful and has great art work. The service is old world and first class. My favorite entrée is the crab legs and I love the bananas foster dessert. I would highly recommend Tournedos but know that the price point is high.

Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Next time we will book a room so we can stay and eat more than once. Wish they had Blanton’s other than that best food in quite a while.

Went to this wonderful restaurant again and had their special-​12 oz Buffalo (no bone). It was cooked a perfect medium rare and the crab cakes were as delicious as I remembered. Ordered the mushrooms and bourbon maple sweet mashed potatoes again and was not disappointed. So worth it again.
Yet again this place is a must for great food in Rochester.

We had a wonderful (yet very expensive) dinner here last week. We started with a glass of wine and Clams casino appetizer in the bar while we waited for our table. The bar is very cozy and comfortable. Once we moved to the main dining room, we had a terrific Filet Oscar and very good sides of Creamed Spinach, and Truffled Mashed Potatoes — both very genius in size — enough for 4 people. We topped off the evening with molten chocolate cake — our server asked earlier if it was a special occasion — it was my birthday — so the dessert arrived complete with candle. A nice touch! The service was excellent, the setting nicely done. This is the nicest place I have found in Rochester for dinner so far since moving here from the NYC/​North Jersey Metro area.
This is the place to come for a special pampered dinner, they know how to do it first class!

Tournedos was a great place to celebrate a graduation dinner. We had cocktails as we waited for our table to be set up in an adjoining room where you could just go for drinks if you wanted to stop by for the warm ambiance.
The staff at Tournedos were very friendly and checked up on us frequently. We had a party of 10 awaiting to celebrate my nephews milestone from the U of Rochester.
The appetizers were delicious. We ordered two orders of the ½ Dozen Oysters on the ½ shell and the Bruschetta Duo (1) Tomato and Basil Pesto (2) Roasted Garlic and Portobello, that whet our pallet for our group. Although, I thought the oysters were quite small, though. We also ordered the Fried Calamari w/​Marinara and Remoulade Sauce that made up for the small oyster size. The Calamari batter was crisp and the Calamari was so tender and paired well with the sauces.
Some of us had drinks with our meal that went well with what we were having for our dinner. For our main course, many of us ordered the Wagyu Ribeye Steak (regular cut) that was cooked to order. I enjoyed the Wagyu Strip Steak (regular cut) that was prepared medium rare and met my expectations. We also had a selection of 3 steak sauces that accompanied the already well seasoned steaks. We had one seafood lover in our party that selected the Wild Raised Tasmanian Salmon, and another in our group that ordered the Lemon Herb Roasted Free Range Chicken, they enjoyed it.
We had the Garlic Roasted Brussels Sprouts, Grilled Asparagus, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes with Truffle Butter, and Pancetta Fried Potatoes, for our vegetables and starch.
For dessert we ordered the Crème Brulle and Blueberry Crisp and paired it with some dessert drinks. The dessert presentation stand that demonstrated all of the desserts looked so delicious that I wanted one of everything. Our server also knew his menu well.
Thus, we had a wonderful time enjoying celebrating my nephews milestone, with the ambiance and setting and dining experience at Tournedos that would make any graduates evening a memorable one.

Came here for a Christmas party with my job and another time afterwards with my mother, both times were phenomenal. My boss rented a private room and the setting was intimate and perfect! I ordered the filet with asparagus and the potato au gratin. It was delicious. I ordered my filet medium rare and it was mouth-​watering perfection. The Almond Joy cheesecake was to die for, and I’m not a huge cheesecake fan. This is by far the best steakhouse in the city and a rare gem in the Rochester culinary scene.

One of the best steakhouse in Rochester. Tournedos Steakhouse has a pretty large menu for both steak and seafoods. Some of their finest steak are dry-​aged, well cooked, and their service is average.
Reservation is not really necessary, but it’s good to call incase.

I have no idea why I ordered the Caesar Salad at a restaurant like this, last time I had it was like two years ago I’ve believe. As for the steak, it’s not the best steak that I ever had, but it’s definitely the best steak in Rochester. Water are $ 5 per bottle… never in my life, had ever been to a restaurant that charge me for water.
Overall the atmosphere is great. ⁵⁄₅ Stars, only in Rochester.

Pricey, very good steak house. The waitstaff seem to be some of the best trained I’ve seen in Rochester. The place is really nice, good atmosphere, classy.
I’ve eaten here several times and this was my least favorite, which is why there’s only a 4 star rating.
She got the fillet, medium well and it was WAY overcooked. Like, just completely gray and dry. We didn’t say anything, just annoying that I finally bring her here and that happens.
My salmon was grilled and seasoned great. However, it was served pretty rare. Salmon is my favorite sushi so I have no problem eating it as raw as it comes but they grilled it skin side up and never flipped it so half the salmon was cooked perfectly and half was really kind of slimy in my opinion. I also hate when they leave the skin on, which I know is preferred by many of you. In any case, had they flipped it, I think I would have enjoyed it more, although I didn’t love the sauce it was served in.
Enough being picky. What did I like? The martinis were excellent, she had a glass of wine that blew her doors off, the garlic brussels sprouts were amazeballs; they were tiny, extremely tender, served in a butter garlic sauce.
The fresh warm bread and garlic infused oil was delicious and hard not to eat and we were able to order a half order of the truffle butter mashed potatoes, which was incredible and FYI was about the same size as the full order of sprouts.
Oh yeah, the sides are a la carte and served family style.
I had a decent caesar salad that I’d order again. Her salad (both a la carte) was nothing special but very nice.
The bananas foster was delicious.
Classy place, extremely professional well trained waiters and a overall a really nice experience.

Definitely on my list of places to take person (s) you want to impress.
From the valet parking, to the interior of the hotel lobby, the hostess, waitstaff, the interior… pretty much every aspect of dinner here was high fallutin but not obnoxious and definitely worth the pricetag.
I suppose getting reservations is recommended, but the place was maybe ¼ full on a Thursday evening. It’s dimly lit, classy and versatile for many occasions. You could take coworkers here, visiting parents/​relatives, a hot date, whatever. Its not noisy like some of the other high end choices out there so you can actually hear people at your table w/​o shouting.
The bread was fantastic; warm and served with whipped butter and olive oil! I had an arugla salad to start off with and went with the 8 oz tenderloin filet as an entrée. For the a la carte sides we got some of the market veggies which was zucchini/​squash in a spicy tomato sauce. Everything was delicious. That said, I was probably the least impressed with my filet. It was good, but I wish I had gone with one of the dry aged choices like the strip or the rib eye.
Toward the end of dinner I overheard another waiter recommending to his table getting one of the bone-​in dry aged steaks they have for maximum flavor… too little too late. The bourbon sweet potatoes are a must; don’t ignore them just because they are at the bottom of the menu!

Decadent and hearty, Tournedos offers quite the menu of meats and seafoods, it’s hard to choose an order du jour. Clearly steak was top of my mind. I can’t resist a filet when it’s on the menu. It calls out for me: «Breanna, order me! Pick me! My seared, succulent filet is a simple pleasure.» Yes. Yes, it is. Filet, you fail me not.
My last visit, I ordered the Syrah, French Onion Soup and the 8 oz Filet. Shared at the center of the table was the freshest of bread I’ve consumed at a restaurant. Still warm as if handed to us straight from the oven, I was almost completely satisfied with just that dipped in seasoned olive oil or with a schmear of whipped butter. On top of that, the scrumptious broth in the onion soup was by far my favorite of the meal. Although the cheese was slightly overpowering, I never mind such a thing. Along with my filet, I shared a few bites of the mac and cheese. The filet cut like butter. Perfectly seared and seasoned. It was a subtle flavor of salt and pepper, allowing for the meat to take the forefront. Surely, I left satisfied.
It was a quiet night at the restaurant — a welcome change from the normal hustle and bustle during a dinner rush. It’s very comfortable and intimate in the dining room, and reminds me of being on vacation in a cozy lodge in the mountains, which is strange since Tournedo’s is in the heart of East End/​Downtown. I can’t recall if there’s a fireplace there, but the ambiance gives off that vibe.
