I feel the need to write an update to «up» my rating of Del Taco. I would have never thought it would happen… but I’m a fan… Yay! I really like their fish tacos here. Most places mess up simple street tacos and fish tacos… not here. I just wish the fish tacos were as cheap as the regular tacos. I’m glad I’ve continued to give Del Taco a try… and you should too.

I was staying in Rock Hill recently and I actually left my motel a little later due to icy roads in the early AM. After it warmed up a bit, I took a short drive down the road to find someplace for breakfast. I quickly spotted Del Taco on the corner and I thought I was seeing things. Del Taco is one of my favorite fast food restaurants, which I prefer over Taco Bell. I especially enjoy Del Taco when I’m cruisin’ around So Cal. I pulled into the parking lot which was empty, but Del Taco was definitely open! I’M HAVINGBREAKFASTATDELTACOIN SC-W00t! W00t! This Del Taco location was very clean with a bright dining room, self serve drink station and self serve sauces. I took my time looking over the lighted menu boards which had plenty of Del Taco Meals(with fries and drink) to choose from and other great deals to choose from. Most combo meals are priced $ 4.99-$ 6.49, but there were also $ 4 Meals offered too as well as several 99 cent items. The breakfast menu is also served all day here, a similar policy at Jack In The Box and Sonic. I decided to order my favorite combo, which was the #13: 2 Crispy Fish Tacos with Fries and Medium Diet Coke($ 6.49) and Churros($ 0.99). I decided to eat in so I could take advantage of the Free WiFi access and enjoy my meal in a relaxed atmosphere. The fish tacos were very good and tasty, as expected and the salted crinkle cut fries were hot and crispy, dipping the fries in a mix of Del Inferno Hot Sauce & Ketchup, yum! The churros were covered in cinnamon sugar, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The food was solid good(I love fish tacos for breakfast!) with free refills on the Diet Coke and the staff was friendly. The manager actually thanked me for stopping in as I was heading out. I was kind of sad leaving the area since there were no more Del Taco restaurants along the rest of my road trip.

Ok. I’m actually impressed. Awesome prices. Ok selection. The advertisement for the shredded bean beef burito looked better in the picture and there was more beans than shredded beef. The chicken tacos… OHYEAH! AWESOME!!! Their tacos naturally have a flavor that is better than Taco Bell’s. Their sauce packets, yes unlike the Bell, they still ask if you want them, are thicker than the Bell’s. Over all their tacos are much more tasty than TB’s and a fairly decent price. They even have coupons in the mail which is how I finally braved this place and they have«two for» deals. Definitely going back.

My first visit to Del Taco, I was thrown back by the variety of choices they had on the menu. I tried a few items including a beef burrito, a couple of hard shell tacos, and fries. The burrito, and I kid you not, tasted like what the burritos used to taste at Taco Bell in the ‘80s(before they went to the cheap), very nostalgic. The tacos were good, just I had expected; but the fries were over salted on this trip, so I couldn’t really eat many of them. The store was very clean and thusly enjoyed my overall visit.

Just wanted a quick bite so I tried one of the chicken tacos and a strawberry lemonade. I was actually very impressed with my first visit here! The food was prepared fast and it came out hit! The strawberry lemonade had fresh pieces if strawberries in it and was very refreshing and in my opinion reasonably priced. They also have some great deals… worth bragging about $.39 tacos, several combos until $ 5 and if you’re interested on breakfast they have an ice coffee for $ 1. Overall, I think this place is a really good find and I look forward to trying something else from the menu! Look out Taco Bell!!!

Way better than Taco Bell any day. The lone set of customers included a former food critic from California… they had to ask if I was writing a review. Not really, as I came in already full. So, I will stick to the iced coffee and strawberry churros and not memories from a year ago in a Missouri location. The iced coffee is smoother than many other fast food versions, which sometimes suffer from the simple fact that chefs are not baristas. So they get the cream and sugar proportions totally wrong… not the case here. Strawberry churros were everything one could want in that dessert, full of cinnamon, sugar, and what were pretty convincing strawberries. The staff was very professional for young people, and I could see the manager was on top of the service flow. I will also compliment the great canned music, if you love the 80’s then you will like the Madonna, Huey Lewis, and Talking Heads that keep the place cheerful. As other reviewers have said, it is very clean and a really nice location in terms of décor. Clearly DT has been taking notes at new Taco Bell stores. That being said, one trip here will make you stop eating at Taco Bell.

Great to find a Del Taco had opened so close to Charlotte. I transplanted from So. Cal. to the Carolinas a few years ago and was missing some of the quirky little things about California that make it unique. Great excitement when my daughter discovered one had opened in Fort Mill/Rock Hill area. We drove over for lunch and had great service, great food, and terrific management. It reminded me so much of the many Del Tacos on the coastal highways in California and why we still love it! Also, for you transplants — if you want non-sweet tea ask for it since they keep it behind the counter. FREEWI-FI.

Del Taco, apparently pretty popular on the left coast, already has a couple locations in Georgia. This one is the first one near Charlotte. Strategically placed a few business down from a Taco Bell, it can be a bit of a pain to get to if you are travelling south on US21/Cherry Rd. The easiest thing to do is to turn into Aldi’s to get to it. The location used to be a Dunkin Donuts, so it’s still somewhat reminiscent of a small DD store. I had a big lunch the day I ate here for dinner, so all I got was a 99 cent bean n cheese burrito. You can get red or green sauce, and for something different, I chose the green sauce. The burrito was decent for the price, and it had a little more kick than the average Taco Bell item. It was served pretty quick, so I had no issues with the service. Unfortunately, this made my stomach hurt(not in a sick way — just in a cheap«Mexican» fast food way) for about a day, much worse than the usual Taco Bell. The things that set this place apart from Taco Bell are that it’s cheaper with 49 cent tacos and they also serve cheap burgers and fries. If I want a taco or burrito from a fast food place though, I’m still partial to Taco Bell. Haven’t had the burger yet, but I usually stick with Hardee’s and Wendy’s for fast food burgers. I really don’t see how this place would serve a better burger, but I’ll give it a shot someday.

This was joyous! I’m a nutty Californian and on my way from my home in DC to Myrtle Beach I decided to detour 150 miles because good ol’ Rock Hill randomly has a Del Taco. Totally worth it. Was this the best Del Taco I’ve experience, food-wise? Well, no. I tend to get the same thing, and it wasn’t quite top notch. Still, the interior was probably the nicest I’ve seen at any Del Taco, and the staff was very friendly. They were even friendlier when I told them that my California love compelled me to drive all the way to freaking Charlotte just so I could eat at the Del. It was pretty endearing to see people coming into the joint that had never heard of Del Taco. I saw the manager fielding questions from a number of patrons. Citizens of Rock Hill and Great Charlotte!(Heck, it’s also only an hour north of Columbia). Listen to me! Del Taco is wonderful! Never go to Taco Bell again! With your help the Del can slowly make its way through North Carolina and eventually to Metro DC, and I can enjoy it and feel like my life is worth living again. Do it for me!

Until we drove by it Saturday afternoon I’d never even heard of DelTaco(stupid name by the way… lame). I, like I’m sure a lot of people did, assumed it was just another Taco Bell rip off. Oh boy, was I wrong! And was I glad I was wrong! DelTaco kicks so much behind! I ordered the fish tacos and Becky ordered the Tacos al Carbon. Out of the entire taco order the only gripe I have is that the corn tortillas tasted and felt like the bagged kind you buy at the supermarket. They were dry and flaking apart with every bite. Aside from that though, our tacos were DELICIOUS! Nothing like the crap I’ve had at Taco Bell, Taco Time or any other similar place. The Tacos al Carbon came with a wedge of lime and in all honesty did remind me of the tacos we eat in Mexico out of a street cart. Good job DelTaco!(please change your stupid name) I was very taken aback that every combo came with, of all things, french fries. WTF?! They could at least have been good. But no, the french fries were pretty bland, soggy and bad… skip them altogether(and while you’re at it, suggest that they change their lame name). Definitely will go back every time I am in the Rock Hill/Cherry Rd. area. Well worth trying more of their stuff given how good their tacos were(despite the such a crappy name such as DelTaco). The only thing left to wonder is when the heck is Charlotte gonna get a DelTaco!!!(Preferably with a new name, like DelBurrito or DelQuesadilla or something like that) P. S. did I mention I think they have the stupidest, lamest name ever?

I’m a food snob. Specifically, a fast food snob. However I’m engaged to a man who thinks fast food is fantastic, so I’ve tried to find some compromises. Del Taco is one of them. I have an absolute, complete refusal to eat at Taco Bells. So, when that’s what he was craving one night I suggested we try Del Taco a few doors down. What a pleasant surprise… a fast food place I can not only tolerate but enjoy(for what it is), and he’s got a new favorite place. I’ve had very little of their menu, but their Tacos del Carbon are very fresh and pretty tasty. He loves everything he’s had, especially the fried mac & cheese bites. Every time we’ve been and ordered his picky food(no tomatoes, no onions, extra sour cream), they’ve always gotten it right, which is a rarity in the fast food world. We’ve always found their service to be EXTREMELY nice, contrary to some other reviews. The reason that I’m only giving it 3 stars is because, as mentioned earlier, I’m a food snob. That’s the highest I’ll ever rate a fast food joint. We always go late at night(it’s 24 hours) when our options are severely limited. It’s good late night grub… I’d probably opt for a sit down meal at a Mexican restaurant if it’s during normal dining hours. Also, kudos to Del Taco for putting their nutritional info online.

Ah, the taste of nostalgia… I was driving back from Charlotte a few months ago and couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a billboard for Del Taco. I nearly wrecked my truck, as I craned my neck back to ensure my eyes weren’t deceiving me. Then the memories started to flood in, of being deployed to NAS Coronado and eating exclusively at the Del Taco there on-base. Needless to say, I have been anticipating the opportunity to get back up to Rock Hill and indulge in some tasty flashbacks. Yesterday was that day, and I patiently(barely) waited until the end of the day so I could get it on my way back to Cola. Then I had to patiently(barely) wait some more, as there were only 2 cars ahead of me in the drive-thru but it took 13 minutes from the time I placed my order until I received it. I checked the parking lot on the way out to see if they were busy, but there were only 2 cars there as well. Poor service? As I removed the sauces and ketchup from the bag(I ordered a #4, which is 2 chicken soft tacos), my hands became sticky. It only took a quick glance to see that half of the packets were covered in hot sauce. And it was dried to a tacky, sticky state, so it didn’t happen *in* the bag. They put them in there already like that… So after cleaning that off my hands and finding a somewhat reasonable one to use, I unwrapped my first taco in anticipation of applying the spicy ointment. Ah, wait a minute… first I’ve got to pick off this lettuce that is wilted to the point that it has turned black. This is *not* the Del Taco I so fondly remember from my trip in the mid-late 90s. It’s really starting to cramp my joy. Hopefully this was just a bad experience(though I see poor service already addressed below), but I have to wonder what these people are thinking. Because this location appears to be staffed with ignorance, I’m going to have to rate it 3 stars instead of 4. Hopefully they get it together, because I’d love to return on my next trip to/through Rock Hill.

Del taco is awesome! Try shredded beef burrito! We are from Ca and Del Taco is the top fast food Mexican place there. There hamburgers are also very good surprisingly For a Mexican food establishment. Go there also for breakfast burritos and coffee It’s cheap, good fattening food, the way it should be.

WOWWOWWOW! I am so glad they opened up a Del Taco on the East Coast! Growing up in SoCal this was a everyday staple! In the day we would walk from school at lunch and pig out for a few bucks! Fast forward a few years– we stopped in on the way to Charlotte Douglas International Airport and guess what, for few bucks one can still pig out! Del Taco has the bestest — in the whole wide world — Green Burrito! This is a simple bean burrito with green tomatillo sauce and some cheddar cheese for the whopping price of 49 cents! In some cases simple is simply better! The refried beans from Del Taco are better tasting than any other refried beans hands down! I know refried beans are not the most popular restaurant fare here in the South. However, in California refried beans probably connotes the same feelings that hash and rice does here– when you taste good stuff you know it’s good stuff! Del Taco is the«good stuff» So do yourself a favor– for about three buckeroos go get a couple green burritos, a cheese quesadilla, and a cherry coke! You won’t be disappointed.

Del Taco is open in the location that used to be Dunkin’ Donuts at the corner of Cherry Rd. and Anderson Rd. in Rock Hill. The parking lot is accessible from the North lane of Cherry Rd., or from the Aldi parking lot. The menu is similar to Taco Bell with the addition of burgers and fries. Crinkle cut fries are included with the combo’s instead of nacho’s…etc. The food has been delicious every time I’ve been there and the prices are average. The plain taco special they have @ $.49 per taco is a great way to feed a crowd on a budget. The only thing that stops me from visiting this location more frequently is the service. I have gotten super slow service in the drive thru and also inside to dine in. The service sucks, but the food was good… They are relatively new so I won’t give up on them yet. Hopefully the service will work itself out as they get used to the business flow.
