Newk’s Express Cafe’

Really good sandwiches and a great selection of drinks at the soda fountain. But the salad wasn’t any good and the croutons were soggy. Not a great sandwich place.

My girlfriend and I love Newk’s! We have to stop here every time we come through Rock Hill. Their sandwiches and desserts are very flavorful and the quality of the ingredients are wonderful. The staff is super helpful and friendly. I wish we had a Newk’s around Pittsburgh!

I was surprised at this establishments menu and the kind and friendly staff. The sandwiches are one of a kind delicious. It is a little pricey but after you have a bite of one of their sandwiches, you will get over the fact that you paid $ 10.00 for a sandwich.
I had the Grilled Steak sandwich and it was one of the best I have ever eaten. A great place to have a great lunch.

We came by here yesterday with our dog and wanted to sit on the patio. As we walked back there we noticed a lot of small seeds all around the area up against the restaurant… and then plenty of dead roaches. Granted the patio was closed that day, but surely they could have had some company come out and do a better job of getting rid of whatever they were having issues with so that customers don’t stand a chance to see this. Hate to see what is on the inside if they did the perimeter. Needless to say, we left.

I found this restaurant to not be as good as McAllister’s. They were out of their «famous» was brewing some more. The busboy came by and started clearing our table while we were still there. Making a huge racket with the plates. Terrible selection of low-​calorie dressings. When you get a combo, sandwich and salad offering, you can’t get the nice salad. All you can order are the cheap salads. I’d be happy to pay more for a better selection. I complained to the manager about the poor selection of dressings and all she said was that’s all management will allow us to offer.

Best quality in my opinion is tea made with splenda and free pickles. Salads are their flagship items. Other things are good, but not great — especially given the prices.

Decided to give this place a try. I got the Thai pizza and my wife got a ham and cheese sandwich. The person at the register where you order and pay was friendly and helpful. The drink glasses seem sturdy enough to take home and reuse. I thought the food was decent.

The reason I’m not bashing this place on the review is due to the friendly staff and service. However I’m not a fan of the food. I am use to southern style seasoning and that isn’t what I got. I might try again but my first plate which was the white sauce bbq wasn’t on point.

Went for a birthday and my daughter also got married. Needless to say we are a crazy family and our waitress was cool and just laughed at us rather than freak out about us. It was an enjoyable experience with the family.

Delicious food, and you get to keep your drink cup! :) I’ve had the Mac n cheese (delicious), sandwiches, and various soups. All have been great! A great lunch spot for sure.

Will never ever eat here again. This is a place we have gone to two and three times a week. We had been given permission in the past to bring our small Maltese to eat on the patio. Ee didn’t know we had to get permission each time. We ordered our food today and it was my husbands Birthday. The GM came out on the patio and insisted we could not have our dog. We take our pup many places on the area to eat that out door patois and it has never been a problem. He absolutely ruined out pleasant day. I really didn’t want to go there but this is where my husband wanted to go. I have seen a decline in place since it’s opened but he was worried about a clean dog outside. Lost a big big customer today.

Tried Newks for the first time today. Wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleased. Grilled chicken sandwich was perfect. Strawberry cake was awesome. Wonderful customer service. Thanks Megan for everything!

I ordered a pizza and salad and decided to dine in. I ate literally half of my pizza and asked for a pizza box to take the other HALF to go, and they told me they don’t give those out…, huh? I paid good money for your over priced pizza and you don’t want to give me a pizza box?

Newk’s is the type of place where you order at the counter, they give you a number to put on your table, and they bring the food out to you when it’s ready.
Most fast-​foodish type places like this would get 3-​stars from me, but Newk’s gets upgraded because the food was fantastically delicious and the service was above average in professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness.

Menu had something for almost everyone. This is a walk-​in order, pay, then sit and wait semi fast food establishment. I ordered a specialty salad. The salad was fresh, large and tasty. I ate inside, the atmosphere is clean, comfortable interior with an open kitchen, oddly similar to Carrabbas grill, a little noisy but not too so. Tea is excellent both sweetened and unsweetened.
This is a good choice if you are looking in the area and want something different than the usual prepackaged chains that surround this area.

Quick lunch after church and it was delish! I had the half grilled chicken sandwich and simply salad with homemade honey mustard dressing, hold the tomato on both. The sandwich was warm and seasoned great, with a twang from the slightly tangy honey mustard. The salad was filled to the brim of the bowl so it was easy to make a mess, but the mixed greens cucumber, carrots and cheese were all fresh. The honey mustard is not sweet and has a little kick to it and I enjoyed it.
The hubby had an Ultimate Salad which comes in a huge bowl and had all the toppings and the honey mustard dressing mixed it.
$ 20 for a full lunch… belly full, now off to the mall. :-)

I’m not sure I get the hubbub. Newk’s is a completely average sandwich joint. Decent sandwiches and soup. I’ll even concede to their food tasting better than many sandwich joints. If it weren’t for the price to portion ratio being out of wack… four stars would likely be more appropriate.
Nobody should have to spend over $ 30 for two adults and two little kids… for sandwiches. You do know we can make these at home right? Or… we could go to Jimmy Johns or Pinera for something similar.
Don’t get me wrong… the food’s not bad… it’s quite good in fact… but that price to portions thing. I will give Newk’s another try to sample their salads. I hope those of you rating this place high, are correct. We need better places to eat in Rock Hill… and hopefully some of these new places can fit the bill.

Clean, friendly, and fresh foods. A little pricey, but very quick!

Ooh, good. I’m so glad I’m not the first to leave a review. I’m new here to Unilocal!I figured out how to do it though.
So my review for Newk’s. I love new places. I went on a Sunday for lunch and it was crowded but I still received excellent friendly service. I had the Italian Topasted sub and it was excellent! Wish I could have had time for a beer but I think I would have spent too much money at Target later. It was a good trip and I can’t wait to go back for a more leisurely meal and try out a few more things.

Went for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was extremely crowded. Parking lot was full. Good thing right? Absolutely, and it was worth the wait. I walked into the Grab and Go door and was greeted by a very friendly staffer.
Having never been to a Newks before I looked over the menu and just wasn’t feeling a sandwich so I ordered the Newk’s favorite to go. Watching the operation of this restaurant you can see that they didn’t have the «new restaurant jitters» and everything was running smoothly. Wide open kitchen all you could see was fresh bread for sandwiches, fresh salads and everything firing on all cylinders perfectly.
I waited about 5 minutes when the Manager asked me my name and how long I had been waiting. I told him it wasn’t a problem, but he went back and grabbed my salad off the line, packed it up and sent me on my way. I walked to the Round Table for extra breadsticks and went back to eat my lunch which was very fresh and tasty.
Everything was reasonably priced, and fresh. Great job Newks. Keep it up!!!
