I was finally able to try this place out. I live in Bettendorf so it is a bit out of the way for me, but since I was in the area, I figured why not? I had the traditional gyro combo. It was very tasty. You get a lot of food for what you pay. It was probably one of the best gyros I have ever had.

Plain and simple, this place is waaayyyy better than Uncle Pete’s. If i ever eat a gyro from Uncle Pete’s again. i will be very VERY disappointed in myself. «Get your life together dude!!» — that is what I would tell myself if I ever eat at Uncle Pete’s again.

My Chicago-style food fix. Hot dogs, beef, gyros all are superb. There is really nothing I can say negative about Dr Gyro, and it is my daughters’ favorite place to go when I sneak her out of school.

I absolutely love the food here! From the gyros to the fries… Everything on the menu is delish!

Quality meat and good tzatziki sauce here. They use the meat that slow roasts on a spit versus your generic prepackaged microwaved stuff. The portions are very generous and the fries are pretty darn good as well. They also have some interesting concoctions of creative gyro type of sandwiches as specials.

I grew up in the Chicagoland area and now living in DC so crave a good gyro from time to time. This place reminds me of the ones I had in my childhood, along with the Italian sausage and peppers and other delicious items here. The best is just the original, full of meat that is soft and tasty with a perfect pita. Prices are good and they even have all kinds of deals and specials depending on the day. The chicken gyros, fries, and sausage are also great.

The french fries alone are worth the trip. Gyro’s are very good as well

If are a Chicago transplant and you want a taste of home you should head to Dr. Gyros. Had an Italian beef and sausage link sandwich with hot giardinera and marinara and it was fantastic.

Sometimes you just crave a gyro, and when that happens in the Quad Cities, everyone I know runs to Dr. Gyro. I dare anyone to come up with a better Gyro place for the price. The location is definitely what I would define as «dive-y» but the food is greasy heaven on a pita, so I can’t complain. On tuesdays they have a great deal where you can get 3 gyros for $ 9. Genius. $ 3 for a meal?!? Grab two friends and chow down. As a side note, there is a wall in the back reserved for those who can complete the«Mount Olympus Challenge». This would be a nice addition to the already classy décor but there’s NOONE(!) on the wall. Sad day. I asked. It’s a 9 Gyros challenge. Non one’s done it. WTF hungry people? Step it up.

Ate there one time. Some nasty guy made the sandwich with NO gloves on. Amazingly, I caught the flu within a day or two of visiting the Dr. Gyros place. Never went in there again. This place sucks bigtime. Avoid it!

Every time I’m in Rock Island I visit. I usually get the Italian Beef and sausage combo or the Greek chicken wrap. Both are delicious. They should fix the ceiling because there are water leak marks. I don’t care that much, it’s just cosmetic.

I ordered the chicken gyro with fries and a drink. The gyro was pretty good, I would have preferred smaller chunks of onion but all in all pretty good. As for the fries, I was very disappointed! They tasted like fish! I think they need to change their oil out…

I love Dr. Gyro’s, but I can’t provide a very in-depth review of their menu, because every time I go there, I can’t help but get either a gyro or a gyro salad because they’re so tasty. I’m a sucker for authentic gyro meat. Clean establishment, quick service, and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. I definitely recommend.

Had my first meal there over summer. Menu is crammed packed full of many varieties of meat delivered in a Gyro style. I was more curious with their specials board. Seemed to be a weekly posting. This week they had a Reuben Gyro. I love Reubens and I love Gyros, so I figured that this was a safe purchase. They gave me what I asked for: lamb cut thin, with white onions, cucumber sauce, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and seasoning salt. It was exactly what I ordered but not what I thought it was going to be.(Thought it was going to be a Reuben sandwich and all it contains wrapped in a pita.) The combination of lamb and thousand island was not the best and left a weird taste with me the rest of the day. I think I just ordered wrong because the servings were large and the lamb by itself was good. I think you’d be safe trying something more traditional.

This place is fantastic. All I need is the gyro salad, light on the onions.

There’s no middle eastern food in the QC to speak of — I dare you to try to find a falafal — and the only decent Greek food I’ve had here has been cooked by my elderly neighbor. So it was with much trepidation that I wandered into this brightly lit building that was once a Dunkin’ Donuts, the goofy cartoon doctor on the sign promising an experience less joyful than a colonoscopy. I’m glad I did, though, and now I’m a regular. I’ve only ever had the gyros, but they are indeed the cure to some deep pains of the hunger variety. Carved off spinning logs of lamb, the way it should be, these aren’t your typical midwestern flavorless gyro, which half the time aren’t even made with the right animal(WTF, midwest, WTF?). Like many a heartland meal, these bad boys are huge, falling out of the miniskirt of a pita, with a healthy heaping of toppings. The flavors are right on, spiced just right, and the sauces are more likely to be licked off your fingers than wiped on a napkin. The fries are battered, served hot and crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just the way they should be. Seriously, this place is worth your time and money.

Dr. Gyro is a good place to get gyros that are not made with pressed square meat like strips. At Dr. Gyros they actually have the meat on a spinning spit. Then shave off the meat onto the pita. Fresh onions and peppers added,(tomatoes too but i leave them off). The pita bread they use is also tasty. The actual location is not amazing, just an old diner with fresh paint and clean. Recommend:(what do you think I am going to recommend at a place called Dr. Gyro, the cheeseburger?) Regular Gyro double meat –no tomatoes(personal choice) They cater also!

If you’ve got gyro fever, see the doctor. Dr. Gyro. (To be clear, that’s not pronounced anything like«gyrate.») Now that the obvious/cheap joke is out of the way… seriously, the gyros are pretty good, and HUGE, however it kind of weirds me out that you can get sort of untraditional toppings on them. Forget that noise, go for the real deal. I believe they often have specials where you buy two and then get even higher cholesterol. The fries are pretty good, from what I recall. FUNFACT: This building used to be home to a Dunkin’ Donuts when I was but a wee lass. Though there are no longer Dunkin’s in the QCA, I thankfully no longer live there, and can, also thankfully, satisfy my craving for mass produced baked goods on just about every fucking block in Chicago.
