IT’s right off I-80. Good food. Reasonable price.

Used to love this diner before the renovation. They had a great chicken dish with wild rice and some great specials. However since the renovation I don’t think the food is as good and the prices have edged up. I would rather have great food and service than new swanky décor.

Great take out last night. Oriental chicken salad and chefs salad. The boys split meatballs and we also had the pancakes for the little guy. Excellently prepared and ready earlier than expected. Great job.

Hibernia Diner fails: 1. If there’s one thing any diner must always do, its to keep offering to refill your coffee cup. Not Hibernia! I’ve been there 3x since the renovations, and not once did the waiter offer more coffee. 2. You’ll wait forever for your food. 3. When I was there in 3rd week February 2016 with a party of 4, the waiter was dismal. He dropped and broke a bunch of plates right out in the dining room. He went ‘missing’ for really long periods. The food took forever. Then when I guess his shift was over(?), he just dropped the check on our table without bothering to ask if we wanted dessert or more coffee. And yes, he apparently was following the«new» Hibernia Diner policy of not refilling coffee cups. I was embarrassed for my 3 guests from out of state… can’t brag about NJ diners when you experience this one.

Came to the diner for breakfast. It was delicious! The waiter was friendly and it seemed like a fairly clean place. Would go back more if we lived closer!

The waitress took our orders and then we waited for 45 minutes for our food — just some eggs and toast. The food finally comes out after we have given up and my omelette is freezing cold, so is the toast and the food tastes disgusting. Worst diner I have been to in the longest time. Service totally crappy waited 15 for the waitress to appear and see if we needed anything then another 20 for her to appear with the check. And she kept apologizing but kept messing up over and over again. Don’t ever come here. Not even if you are starving and this is the last diner on earth!

After the renovations, I was hoping for the same service. The food and service isn’t as good. We waited over an hour for our food. I thought that my husband and I would give it another chance. Then, we waited about 45 minutes for our food. The ambiance is nice. Very trendy for a diner. However, you expect good diner food and quick service. I didn’t receive either. Go to the Barn next door. I much prefer the food there.

I’ve been here a few times and the food/service has been consistently great. Super clean, quick service, and great food — can’t think of any negatives! My go to favorite is definitely the mozzarella sticks and their veggie burger is amazing — the pattie isn’t bland, it’s perfectly seasoned and yummy. My boyfriend tried the chicken spring rolls and said they were out of this world — yay! We both agreed that the fries are perfectly crisp and yummy. Overall, this is a great diner and I will definitely continue coming here :)

I’ve come here a few times now and it’s becoming my new favorite small diner! The food is always good, amazing for diner standards. They variety is excellent. Theres something for everyone. I love the corn nuggets and the chicken parm sandwhiches! You must try their desserts too. The peanut butter blast is my favorite. Great coffee too– a rarity at a diner. The staff has always been friendly to me.

The newly renovated and new menu diner is a hit with me and my family. Relaxed service, good food with big portions and decent prices. It’s now our go to diner.

I can only review the take out as that’s what I did. Ordered a sandwich to go fairly late at night, and the wait wasn’t too bad, about what I’d expect for them to make it, no more no less. I got a giant cookie along with the sandwich as they looked so good. The staff was friendly and the place was very charming. Both the sandwich and cookie were delicious, no complaints here, and they even included plastic utensils which weren’t needed but nice to see. I’d probably go back and grab some food to go again.

Love a good Jersey diner. My waitress was very attentive and sweet. The french onion soup was fantastic but the grilled cheese with tomatoes with so-so. Christmas music was playing the entire time, which I loved, and free drink refills are always a plus!

Bloody hell. We arrived late night(right at midnight) to grab a grilled cheese sandwich. Sign says«24 hours» and«serving round the clock»… three people exiting the place as we head up the steps tell us they were kicking them out for the night and closing down. Not going to bother again.

Working next door we get a 15% discount but I would recommend this diner even without the discount! They are old but completely revamped the interior and exterior. Their menu is standard diner food but the portions are out of this world ! They have a great staff and if you’re looking for a quick lunch they are also very accommodating !

How bout an update? Since our visit last August, the old place has had a major facelift. It really no longer looks like a diner. No worries though. It still is. Visited twice in the last two weeks. Good chicken and fries for my son. Corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, well done home fries and rye toast for me. Gone are the shredded hash browns I complained about last year. They have them just exactly perfect now. Everything else was very good. We’ll be back soon.

I have been going here for about 2 years now and other then the 7 months they were closed for renovations I go around 1 or 2 times a week and love every food I try from here. From the cheese burger deluxe to a ham and cheese omelet, and even pulled pork quesadillas this diner is excellent at them all. All of the staff is super friendly and i never have a bad experience at the Hibernia diner !

For a casual dining experience, Hibernia is a good choice. They just did a remodel and the restaurant is gorgeous now. The food a nice and for diner cuisine I’ll say that it is better than average.

Food was better before the remodel. My wife order French toast which was cold and chewy. I order my usual the American cheese omelette with white toast. The omelette it’s self was ok. But my toast was burnt and home fries raw. At least the manger came over and comped our meal.

On our way home from little league and stopped off for a quick grilled cheese. As we walk to the front door, we notice a hostess directly in front of us. She proceeds to enter and not hood the door open. Frankly, they could have the best burger behind those doors, but my experience already started out poorly. I appreciated the door closing in my face. The same hostess seats us and doesn’t seem to notice the booth seats are dirty. Thankfully a bus boy notices as she walks away. Again, haven’t even had a fry yet and the experience is not looking good. Oh, there’s my waitress. Oh wait, she’s too busy chatting with the table behind me. I’ll sit here until you’re ready to take my order. Take your time. We eventually order and get our grilled cheese and fries. Thank goodness the sandwich is fine. But I can’t help but notice how the waitress are running around like chicken’s without heads. Oh, the waitress is back. «Did I forget to give you something?» I don’t know, did you?! At this point I just ask for my check. So, the place is cute food its your basic diner faire. A little pricey for a diner which I hope they use to train the staff or hire some with experience.

We took our family here for dinner and I ahev to say we were seated pretty quickly but then waited for an hour to get our food. We didn’t order anything complicated, just eggs, and a gyro and that took an hour! Once we got our food we were extremely disappointed. The gyro was«mushy» and the eggs were undercooked. We will not be going to this diner again

All Show No Go… food stinks. The Hibernia Diner recently reopened after being rebuilt. From an aesthetic vantage point, it’s beautiful with a zen appeal. However, the chefs can’t get their act together. The food was horrible and one will wait an hour for a cheeseburger deluxe. Additionally, the food has no artistic appeal adopted by most diners. To top it off, it’s pricy for bad tasting food. All Show No Go captures the essence of the newly reopened Hibernia Diner.

HANDSDOWNTHEBESTDINERINNJ! I have been coming to the hibernia diner my whole life. Love this place. They just reopened after a long renovation and the place looks amazing! Combined with the friendly staff great food brings the dining experiences amazing! Weather you come for breakfast lunch dinner or dessert you won’t go wrong. Everything is amazing. I love the French onion soup and they have the best chicken fingers and fries in town! Go check them out

Stopped here on my voyage from NY to Wilkes-Barre. Typical diner setting. I ordered the Coconutty shrimp which was good albeit a little greasy! I also had some prime rib which was cooked appropriately and was a good quality meat. What’s best is that the prices were reasonable!
