Outrageous pancakes! Loved them. Great spinach salad and French onion soup. Possibly the best Matzoh ball soup ever. Definitely going to be a go to place to eat. We did take out last week me it was an excellent experience.

My wife and I think the Red Hut is a home run based on 3 – 4 visits for lunch and dinner over the past few months – we’ve never been disappointed. At first we had heard it got very noisy in there but it didn’t seem that bad to us. For lunch(several times) my wife’s hamburger and my turkey burger with cheese were larger than usual, tasty and excellently prepared and presented with lettuce tomato & great fries. Another day at dinner we both had cod with lemon butter sauce and potato – mine was mashed and she had baked. It was great – their cook knows how to cook fish! Just recently we both had pork chops, green beans with almonds and baked potato – the chops were nicely grilled and the whole meal was very tasty. I had rice pudding for desert several times because it was very good. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very personable and attentive – we look forward to eating there again.

Been here 3 times. First 2 times the food was very good. I had a good specialty omelette and a good sandwich lunch wrap. The service was okay, but they were quite busy so I understood the slight delays. However, the next time I came for lunch and dinner once and the food was terrible. I had to send back the lunch because the tomatoes in my chicken bruschetta wrap were brown and smelled. The burger my wife ordered was extremely undercooked when she asked for well-done. We weren’t sure if there was a new cook, but it took us almost double the amount of time to receive our food from the first two times we went. The place was half-empty when we were there the final time. With so many different places in the area, we are choosing not to return.

Unbelievable experience at Red Hut. It is rare that I would take the time out to write a review on a diner, but I can’t decide if the service or the food was better. It was such a welcoming experience. I love how the owner took personal interest in seeing how mine and my wife’s experience was going. I got the Mousakka, a traditional Greek lasagna dish and it was superb. It was recommended by the waiter and he is on point. I am happy that I had such a great experience and I am looking forward to going to Red Hut diner again.

Went for lunch with my mom and teen son. Service was good but lunch was bland and overpriced. French dip pannini was soggy with tasteless dipping sauce. Cheapo bagged french fries. My mom had a sandwich called the happy waitress. It was actually a piece of cheap white bread with a small mealy tomato slice, rubbery bacon and square of yellow cheese that barely even covered it at a price of $ 10. Bill for three people was over $ 40 and not worth it. Very low quality compared to other venues in the area. Won’t be back!

I apparently felt like fried sides tonight and it did not disappoint. Onion rings, eggplant fries and chicken tenders were absolutely just the right thing after work. I came in close to closing time but didn’t feel rushed and refills were on point.

The service was ok but: They don’t have fresh lox and charged us $ 7 for a tuna sandwich even though we ordered a scoop of tuna in the side and refused to lessen the price saying it’s our fault we didn’t want the bread. The eggs were bland, no gluten free options. For a quality diner in the area, go to Sparta Classic Diner!

First time at Red Hut Diner and I was semi disappointed. It was very busy and the server didn’t come to our table for 15 minutes. He did wait on us graciously and helped us pick out popular meals. The food wasnt flavorful and the meal itself was boring. Never thought a buffalo chicken wrap could be boring but it was. Food for 3 people was around $ 40. The initial set up of the diner wasnt great. We sat by the center and there was no wall to block you from people seeing you eat as they walked in. I was intimated by it. Was a decent place overall but definitely don’t need to go back.

I had the Cheeseburger(actually, Cheeseburger Deluxe): Huge beef patty, super fresh and soft sesame seed bun. Also comes with lettuce, tomato, two onion rings, and the most amazing crunchy/crispy, possibly battered french fries. Simple food, but well-made and so satisfying on a late night(popped in around 12:40am on a Sat night; we were the last customers) Total: about 18 bucks for two. One thing I will note: their cheeseburger prices on the menu were off by about a dollar compared to how they were rung up. Still a bargain, I think, and worth it since the food was so tasty, but something to at least double check with your server if you are on a tight budget.

I never like to try a place when it first opens simply because it takes time to work out the bugs, have the servers learn the menu, get the staffing correct, etc. If I DO try a place early on I won’t review it as I don’t think it’s fair and bad reviews can certainly have a negative impact. That said, the stars aligned last night and I was able to finally try the Red Hut Diner. In my opinion, when you’re ttying a new diner there’s only one way to go… and that’s to order your personal ‘staple.’ So last night we did just that. I started with Matzoh ball soup and my daughter ordered the French onion soup. If you can’t get these right you really have no hope. Well they’re good on the soup because both were great… not too salty, just the right amount of flavor… though the matzoh needed a touch of pepper. For our meals I ordered a Grilled ham and swiss on rye, my kids had an egg breakfast(scrambled) and a Turkey Club, and Wifey ordered a Rueben panini. My simple sandwich was done perfectly, and they grilled the ham before putting it on the sandwich… just how I like it. Generous portion of eggs and the home fries were very good, though I like mine a little more well done. Turkey Club was just right with nice crispy bacon and my wife’s panini included a generous portion of very nice corned beef and was actually a little too much food for her. Kudos on the coleslaw as well, a little soupy, but the flavor was great. Service was not an issue, manager came by to check on us, and the ambiance is nice for a diner. Plenty of parking, easy to get into and out of on a busy road. Other than the prices for some items(drinks) being a bit high, but you get that everywhere since it’s nothing but profit, this was a great dining experience…

I’ve eaten at this diner twice and had take out orders twice since it has opened. The staff has always been friendly and the diner is very clean and modern. The breakfast is awesome I will return for that, but the other meals that my family and I have had have been average. I also don’t think they have many healthy options on the menu other than the salads and some gluten free dinners. I asked if I could replace the fries that come with my grilled chicken with a side salad and they told me it would be an extra charge of $ 2, which is a bit outrageous considering I have had their side salad at a previous visit and it consisted of not very fresh lettuce with a piece of tomato in it. I think the prices are slightly higher than the other local diners for lunch/dinner but breakfast prices are reasonable. I will return, but will stick to the breakfast.

Jersey has some fantastic diners but those on Route 46 between Fairfield and Rockaway are just so-so. Hit and miss based on what you order, in my opinion. When Red Hut opened we were eager to try it out hoping it would shine. we decided to go for dinner. Inside, the décor is nicely done(pretty stylish for a Jersey diner), it’s squeaky clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We loved our waitress. She was fantastic. I wish I would have asked for her name. I ordered the sole Francese off the specials menu and my husband ordered meatloaf. My fish was served over linguini. The fish itself was done perfectly. The portion was huge — enough for two people, maybe three! Unfortunately, it wasn’t served with the heavenly lemon/wine/butter sauce that I love. It was just the fish cooked Francese-style served over buttered linguini. Very bland and disappointing. Never have I had a Francese dish that didn’t include the sauce. I ate a bit and left the rest. Felt guilty wasting so much food but it simply was not what you would expect a Francese dish to be. And yes, I know this is a diner, but I’ve had fish done Francese style before at diners, and it has been properly prepared. So, it’s not just a diner thing. My husband’s meatloaf looked good and the portion was monstrous, but it was mediocre. I tried a bite because he said he wasn’t thrilled with it, and immediately understood why he made that statement. There was something in the seasoning that was off. I couldn’t put my finger on it and neither could he, but we both agreed that it was a poorly done meatloaf. It was also a tad on the dry side. How do you mess up something as basic as meatloaf? I have no idea. In hindsight, maybe we should have gone there for breakfast or lunch. I’m giving Red Hut three instead of two stars for the atmosphere and the amazing staff. The food? I think with some tweaks it will be fine. It does need a little work based on the orders we placed.

We have tried this dinner several times since it has opened. The first time was very good. The most recent time, the food had a sour soapy taste to it. In addition our waiter was hard to find, even though the place was relatively empty at dinner time.

Went here with my daughter before our hair appointment next door. I had a BLT and fries. She had eggs and sausage and half of a honeydew. Service was exceptionally fast and friendly. The food was delicious. And the place itself is very welcoming. We both agreed that its a great little diner! We will surely be coming in every time we go to our salon.

I really enjoyed the cleanliness, the friendliness of the staff and servers, and how quickly we received our order. Everything came out fantastic and we will definitely be back for lunch or dinner. The only drawback I had was that it slow and the servers hovered a little and when we were given the check, we were not told if he would be back to take it or do we go up front. Still I am very satisfied.

This is a new diner on the Morris County scene. Tried to visit on Father’s Day, but a 40 minute wait meant trying somewhere else. Made it for breakfast the next weekend. The noise level is over the top. You can’t hear yourself think here. Coffee was hot and yummy. Our waiter was very attentive and came around many times to refill. My omelette didn’t do anything for me. Portions were small on tiny plates to make them look like big portions. Toast was cut in 3 pieces to use less bread. Between the small portions and a noise level that sounds more like a Saturday night bar scene than Sunday breakfast, I won’t be back.

The problem these days is that everyone is an internet reviewer and the first few days can really break a business if not executed well. It appears that’s the case here as all the one star reviews speak to the first few days when there was a line out the door and he was out of parking spaces. By the way people, it’s a diner. Why on earth would people line up to come to a diner. If I saw a line, I would turn around and go to a different diner a mile away and then come back another day. This is exactly what we did. Ate here today, a few weeks after they opened. The service was extremely fast, the food was good, the waiter was real nice and attentive. Had a turkey club and an open face pork roll and cheese for lunch. We both liked it a lot. A little pricey at $ 25 for two for lunch, but that’s what diner food cost out here in Morris County. It was a four star experience but I’m tossing in an extra star to counter some of those early unfair reviews.

Good for breakfast! Eggs were done well, my sunny side up was runny, not over cooked. Sausage was juicy and flavorful. Our waiter Evan was extremely polite, attentive and efficient. The food came out quikly, before we hit the bottom of our first cup of coffee. A good NJ diner. A little nioisy, but we had a high backed booth, so conversation was not affected. Nice clean contemporary devor. Light and bright atmosohere. The dessert case looked promising. I’ll be back.
