Thought we would try this out since we were in the area. It was good. It is so difficult to find an actual bakery these days, so finding a free standing bakery is always nice. We had a Spinach & Four Cheese Pie and Cheese & Berry Danish. We also bought a Peach & Cinnamon Scone and a Coconut Almont Bear Claw to bring home. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice. He even threw an extra cookie into our bag when we were leaving. All of the items here are very large and shareable. The Spinach & Four Cheese pie looked like a big calzone. It was probably about 8 inches across and the filling was plentiful. It was good and the outside crust was pretty good. The Danish and Bear Claw were okay. They weren’t the best pastry I have had, but they were acceptable. Not sure if they were made earlier in the day or if it was just how the pastry was, but they were not very crisp. The scone was blah. It was very dry and not very flavorful. I actually didn’t see any peaches in it or taste any, so I’m not sure if he gave us the wrong one. It was not very good. We would go back for the Spinach Pie and maybe try one of the meat ones.

Found my favorite go to bakery after my 2nd visit! A hidden gem located in a parking lot of a college. This is the place to go for delightful baked goodness. The blueberry muffins had large and blueberries in them, they were quite tasty! The peach and strawberry muffins were really good, I preferred the blueberry though. On my second visit, I tried the Turtle Latte along with different items with the muffins and it it came out great! Would recommend for lovers of bakery goods, you will find something tasty for sure!

Best blueberry muffin I have ever had! Moist, fresh, and full of blueberries. The meat pies(I have had sausage and steak) are killer too. However, the best part of this place is the owners — fantastic people putting out a consistently great product. Don’t’ miss Banana Cherry Bakery.

This place. I feel so bad because I’ve waited so long to try this place. But today I tried a Pan du Lait(chocolate croissant) and another cinnamon roll thing(not like a pills bury cinnamon roll). A pastry. A laminated dough. Both were perfect and flakey and everything you want when you eat a croissant. I also had a latte. The man asked if I wanted it to be sweet at all. I said a little and it was also perfect. I also forgot to ask for a glass of water so the lady gave me a bottle of water for free. Bottles of water aren’t cheap and I appreciate the fact that she just gave it to me. Move over Starbucks! Banana Cherry Bakery is in town!

This is hands down the best bakery in Rockford But, it’s not conventional You have to understand a few things about this place and then you will learn to appreciate t for what it is… 1. This is a mom and daughter operation. They bake what they feel like-and it’s all fantabulous 2. They don’t always have the same things everyday and it’s not always there right when it opens… Patience is key, and it’s good they don’t always have the same thing because then you are forced to try new things… Which you should! 3. They do special orders(i.e. Birthday cake) but give notice around 1 – 2 weeks 4. Sweet and savory cravings can be met 5. If you go too late in the day pickings can be skin as they have sold out of most things Ok… So now you are educated… Portions are massive and can last easily 2 – 3 servings depending on how much control you have Savory– love the sausage roll(perfectly seasoned sausage in a puff pastry dough that is flaky perfection). The chicken pot pie is best seller(but I like the sausage better), spinach and cheese is really yummy(think Greek spanakopita but huge! Will last two meals!) biscuits and gravy are he best I have had in area and I am from Georgia! Sweets– Carrot cake is delish– not too sweet, icing is perfect Tres leches is my favorite! It’s just perfect and moist and light and you could easily eat the whole thing in one sitting and I may or may not have done so The brownie has cherries and walnuts in it. Need I say more?!? She has blondies too intermittently They make various bread puddings. And they are all amazing. Chocolate with salted caramel is a must and hubby loves the rum raisin The muffins are huge(like injected with steroids) and chock full of whatever they say is in them! Scones follow this rule too They sometimes have macaroons(those things made with coconut) are delicious and perfect and chewy Chocolate croissants. Take one home and toast it and the chocolate melts and is just divine. Just go. But not on Sunday’s when they are closed and I promise you won’t be disappointed. And if you go. Just stock up!

Nothing fancy to write home about appearance wise but great food & friendly service– so go! We greatly enjoyed the sausage roll as well as the beef roll. I greatly enjoyed my hazelnut mocha. They treated us to the croissant donut which was quite nice with a hot cup of coffee. We then took the famous sinful rice pudding, coconut macaroons & a brownie home to test later. We were pleasantly surprised with everything! Highly recommended! Blessings for your continued success!

EVERYTHING is good here. The owners are as nice as can be and take pride in their shop, as they should. The scones & muffins are to die for. The spinach & cheese pie was out of this world. Made from scratch each day, these products are fresh and delicious! I work across the street and have even had a really great almond latte here several times! My coworker visits here even more than I do! Too many small businesses die off– but this is a true gem in Rockford. So, go… now! Support this local business!

This is a hidden gem in Rockford! From the outside, it may look like a shop that’s inhabited a previous restaurant, but on the inside, it’s filled with nothing but love, butter, and warmth. The owner, Medinah, is a pastry chef from London. Her and her daughter’s run this shop, and let me tell you, she knows how to BAKE. Her sweets have just the right amount of sugar and are not topped with mounds and mounds of icing. She’s brought a little of England to this town, and for that, I’m so grateful. I was beginning to miss the subtle taste of a real dessert from the hyperglycemic carbohydrates that laden most shops here. I got a spinach and cheese pie that was amazing! It was warm, flaky, and FILLING. I couldn’t even finish the whole thing; I had to save half for later. Alas, I had gone later in the day, so they had run out of most desserts; however, there was a bread pudding left that I definitely took. Was it worth it? Oh yes. Ohhhh yessss. You may have seen this shop in the middle of the Heartland Church parking lot and thought, ‘Nah, not today…’ wrong thought. Go. Go in the morning. Treat yourself to a nice, warm breakfast alongside a warm personality. Your tastebuds will thank you instantly.

You MUST go to Banana Cherry. First of all, the owner is amazing — she is sweet, genuine, and very obviously proud of her product. I went with the spinach and cheese pie and the sausage pie, and they were both amazing. The crust is flaky, buttery perfection, the sausage is made in house, and the spinach/cheese has a perfect filling to crust ratio going on. My mom raved about the sweets, particularly the cream puff and the bread pudding, but I haven’t had the chance to try them yet. Will definitely be back!

After reading reviews we decided to stop in for breakfast. So glad we did! I had a blueberry muffin that was amazing! Lots of blueberries and a buttery crumbly topping. My husband had a chocolate and toffee scone that he said was awesome! We also bought a sausage roll to share. It was like a giant breakfast sausage meatball wrapped in flaky buttery dough. Really good flavor, not greasy at all. We took a piece of tres leches cake home and look forward to trying that later. The people there were so friendly. Willing to answer any questions we had since this was our first time there. We will definetely be going back. Would like to try the jerk chicken and meat pies.

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. Everything I have had here is wonderful. Cookie and brownies are packed with butter and delicious. The coconut macaroons are something out of a dream. Best macaroons I have ever had, perfect balance between soft inside and crunchy outside. The meat pies are amazing and stuffed to the brim. Meat pies sell out quickly but you can place an order to pickup within a few hours. The new croissant donuts are awesome, I could probably eat a half dozen! I can not say enough about this place, the owners are so nice and remember anybody that has been there more than once. Only thing is I wish they made more of everything because by 3 – 4 they are sold out of a lot of stuff. Get here early!
