Really enjoyed my visit here. Came for the records and left with some pie. The selection of used vinyl is pretty great with a lot of interesting stuff in the bins beyond the usual titles you see(I may not have seen one single«Boston» record, which is a bonus in my opinion). They even had some cool old punk titles when i was in! Also, the owners will offer friendly convo while you’re browsing and take a genuine interest in what you’re into music wise and help dig a few things up for you. Lastly, the pie was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to another trip back.

Kate’s Pie Shop is so original with combined food/record shop. The homemade soup is always so tasty. My favorite is the meatloaf sandwich. Kate’s pie crush is flaky and delicate just like Grandma use to bake. I have so many favorites. buzz saw bourbon, Lemon meringue, cherry, coconut cream and so many choices! She offers cute little pie bites if you just want a little nibble of pie. It’s worth every calorie so stop by and give it a try.

Best pie ever! We had the cherry crumb and apple caramel. They were both perfect! Gotta try lunch AND pie next time, the sandwich menu sounds delicious!

Many of my friends will know I’m a coffee snob and a foodie. Our family travels an insane amount so we get to experience different local places all the time. Finding Kate’s was an awesome discovery in our own backyard. Located inside the library, it’s easily missed but well worth looking for it. The music is fantastic, the atmosphere fun and friendly. The food is fantastic but the pie and the OHMYGOD I“M INLOVE with the MOCHAS are the total cat’s meow. This place was so good we had to go back twice in the same week. So if you’re looking for great sandwiches, yummy soups, amazing pies and phenomenal coffee then your search is over. Go here, support local, eat pie and be happy, life will be good, I promise.

Love everything about this place! What a cool concept, I loved telling my family where I picked up our pies. Kate is super nice and I loved the familiarity of seeing and meeting the person who baked the pies. Just so cool! We got cherry and apple and they were both sooooooo good. We will definitely be back!

This is a review of just the vinyl LP selection at this store… This is probably the best used record seller in Rockford at the moment. They don’t have the range of used LP selections of Toad Hall, it’s true, but the selection is also much less picked over and better focused on LPs you’d actually want to take home and actually listen to(rather than just check out). In addition, records are either as well, if not more accurately, rated that at Toad Hall. Meanwhile, the prices are better and the quality of the records more accurately rated than at Culture Shock. It’s too bad they don’t carry new vinyl(Toad Hall is the big cheese in this regard among the Rockford stores). I also wish they had a bit more diversity in the jazz section – it could use some beefing up with bebop and later offerings. Thus, they get 4 star rating for these issues, but it’s quite a nice place overall. Definitely worth checking out!!!

The best pie on the planet earth. Everything is home made from scratch. They have unique flavors like buzzsaw bourbon. I had their chicken pot pie. It is absolutely the best I ever tasted.

Took me a couple days to get here. This little shop is a fabulous addition to Rockford. I’m a big fan of Rockford especially the indie shops. Cool thing is Kate’s is inside the Rockford public library on State Street. Books, music and pie! Cmon that’s cool. So my rating is high because the atmosphere and location are prime. I do wish it were downtown though. Hopefully they’ll have great success and open on Broadway or Charles in my neighborhood. The good is really good. I had a turkey sandwich on marbled rye which was quite substantial. Plus I got a nice bunch of tasty grapes, veggies, and a pie bite all for $ 9+. Loved it. The décor was eye candy too. The store took me back for a moment to a cool shop in Idyllwild, CA I had recently visited The Swanktuary. Stu the sandwich artisan did a good job on presenting my meal. I will definitely go back to eat. Oh yes and explore the tunage.
