I was in the neighborhood and didn’t feel like fast food. I saw Granny’s and thought I would give it a try. Granny’s is your typical Mom ‘n Pop style diner. Nothing fancy, but still better than a chain style diner. Upon entering, I wasn’t sure if I sat myself or waited to be seated. There were no indications. I just picked a table and sat down. Since this is a small diner, the staff doesn’t have uniforms. It was kind of hard to figure out who was working and who was a customer. My server was really friendly and polite. She gave me a menu, took my drink order and gave me time to make a decision. I ended up choosing their special hot meatloaf open faced sandwich on wheat bread with mashed potatoes and a cup of chicken noodle soup. The soup came first, and it was really good. If it wasn’t homemade I was fooled. When my meatloaf sandwich came out, I was kind of disappointed. The meatloaf was good, but the mashed potatoes were far from homemade. They were instant potatoes, and I’m pretty sure the gravy on all if it came from a can. If you are going to put homemade mashed potatoes on the menu description. I expect there to be home made mashed potatoes on the plate. It actually soured me some because I love mashed potatoes. Real ones that is, not instant. Overall I thought for the price it was a good deal. It’s nothing fancy, but a nice lunch alternative if you’re tired of fast food. I’d eat there again if I was in the neighborhood.
