Clean, fast service, good, hot food for not a lot of money. Just witnessed an employee going above and beyond helping an elderly man from his table, holding his hand and escorting him to his car… PRICELESS! Makes my heart happy to witness compassion.

When your bathrooms have two stalls and one of them has no lock, you’re something that begins with«get» and ends with«o». Shakes were tasty though.

When me and my friends went there at 10:30 pm, no one took our order until 30 minutes later and a complaint to a cashier. Other tables were getting waited on quicker than us. Next we wanted to order again but our waitress was very rude towards us. One of our friends lost her hat during that time. She never left her seat just took off her hat and set it on the table. When we were ready to leave, her hat was misplaced. Magically, the hat was behind the counter. The worker knew it was ours and had no intention to tell us. We were ignored and almost robbed of a hat. This restaurant is awful.

Our waitress is nice but the place had such a filthy floor … them my malt came with so much malt syrup it tasted like skunked beer. On the road and desperate? Go for it… otherwise a blemish on the steak n shake name

I got takeout here, but the staff was very friendly, the service was fast, and the food was on par for steak n shake restaurants. Frisco melt, Parmesan fries, and an orange freeze were all very good.

Meh. I was hungry. It was nourishment. But that’s about all the praise I can give Steak n Shake. Their shakes are good, but so so thick. I ordered a chicken sandwich, which was literally a chunk of chicken inbetween a bun. Again…meh.

Just a typical burger joint! nothing extremely special. They do have really good chocolate shakes! beyond that just a normal burger joint with a cool look…

I kept seeing these vibrant lil burger stands all over Illinois so, I had to try it. The burger and fries were lackluster till I added their seasoning salt. The shake was fucking amazing! Yep, that’s about it. nothin else to see here.

Ok, I like the food. The burgers are so much better than McCraps or Burger Joker. They have some tasty options, and the price point can’t be beat. Oh and the shakes are always really good. Now some of the other things are hit or miss at this location. Some of the booths are in need of some serious tlc. Broken springs and tears can make for a miserable dining experience. Sometimes the restaurant is clean, other times it’s dirty. And I mean floors, tables and booths. Also sometimes the service is attentive and fast, other times not so much. I have noticed that it never reflects how busy or not busy the place is. Just some servers seem to care more than others.

Greasy greasy cholesterol, saturated fat ridden food that just makes you want to shed your own skin after you eat it. But, lots of people like this kind of food. It’s very fatty and is basically like fast food. I had the breakfast skillets because i expected it to be less artery clogging than the lunch, but I was wrong. After eating half of it, there was a pool of grease that was just sitting there. I about gagged. Avoid this place at all cost. The service was average and the prices are reasonable, but avoid it for the sake of your health!

I suppose it depends on who’s working the day you go there… Usually it’s clean and the food is alway’s good… I don’t need to mention how awesome the shakes are! Once we were there and it was really cold outside. Inside was about the same temperature. The manager was cleaning the tables with a soggy paper towel and just wiped the food from the table to the floor. Ewwww. I mentioned it to the kid working behind the counter when we left because I couldn’t find the manager anywhere. He didn’t seem to really care. Take pride in your job because I could use one!

Our Chocolate Banana shake was tasty no doubt, — especially with the fresh banana, but it most certainly was not worth the 45 minutes we spent sitting in the drive thru waiting to order and receive it. In that amount of time we probably could have gone to the Ruby Tuesday’s across the street, sat down, ordered dessert, eaten it and been on our merry way. Absolutely unacceptable!

Food is good. It is a cross between a Denny’s and McDonald’s. Basically a «greasey spoon» if you will. So, with that in mind, Food is made to order, takes longer than fast food, yet greasey with waiters and waitress’s like a Denny’s. Quite a variety of food. Known for their shakes and steakburgers. Shakes are great, steakburgers are good too. Service has always beeen okay for me. Open 24 hours. My suggestion is… Give it a try.

Service was terrible. I went here about a month ago and vowed to write a review about it – it was that bad. I had since forgotten, but the experience was brought back into conversation so here goes nothing. It was probably 10pm or maybe a bit later, when a friend and I walked in to this Steak’n Shake, sat down, and were greeted by a waiter that was obviously a) tired and b) tired of working. I ordered a cherry limeade, and got a cherry lemonade which wasn’t all that bad so I didn’t say anything. Friend got a water, which they surprisingly didn’t mess up. As for food, I got a couple sliders, they were average at best. The person I was with ordered cheese fries.(This obviously wasn’t a dinner type situation, but a quick, «bedtime snack» so to speak.) Before I move on, it’s important to note that a group of 20 people from a nearby dance company(?) walked in and were being slightly obnoxious, which could throw the average waitstaff off, but let’s continue. The cheese fries my friend got were problematic for a few reason. Firstly, you could grab one and pinch it between your index finger and thumb, and it would break as if it were the hardest thing you’d ever broken. Crumbs flying everywhere. In layman’s terms they were more stale than the crackers I left out for a week last month. Secondly, they really weren’t all that cheesy. They’re cheese fries, c’mon guys. So she asks for another order, explaining that they’re obviously stale. Not only did she ask a waitress that was NOT our original waiter(I’ll get to that in a minute), but once the order was put in, the fries sat on a counter for literally 10 minutes before we decided they were no longer worthwhile and left. Back to the waiter — I saw him twice. He came to take our drink orders, came back with our drinks and took our food order. I literally never saw him again after that. He was around, just not bothering to check in on us. At all. The waitress that put in the second order of cheese fries walked by them at least 3 times and gave them no thought whatsoever. When we explained to the woman ringing up our order that we weren’t paying for the cheese fries that were 1) stale and b) uneaten, she didn’t apologize or question our issue. She, thankfully, took it off the bill, but that was literally it. In short, worst service I have ever experienced, bad food, and an overall downer on my night. It’s not always like this. Steak’n Shake used to be better.

Never stepped foot in this S’nS, but have done the Drive Thru plenty. I always forget to tell them what I want on my burger, so don’t forget, they’re made to order! The shakes are awesome and you can always do a half and half but I always do Vanilla. Drive Thru is easy peasy and you’re on your way.

It’s a typical burger joint that has some different things. Their burgers are fine, nothing I would go out of my way to get. What they do have that I really like is the Chili 4-way. This I really do like and I haven’t found anything like it at any other fast food restaurant. Their shakes and malts are good, probably some of the better ones that you will find outside a small mom and pop style ice cream store. What I don’t like are their fries. They use these really thin shoe string fries and I HATE those. When I want a fry, I want to be able to dip it into ketchup, get a big glob on the end and eat it. With these things I have to grab half a dozen of them and then they are sticking out in every direction. Also, I have never found a shoestring fry that tastes good, I don’t know why, but I always think they taste funny, it might be me, or it could be that the shoestring fry is the is the undesirable outcast of the fry world. I generally only use the drive through and the service there is fairly good. Depending on what you order it can take longer at times. IE, 4 large specialty malts takes longer than just a burger and unloved fries.
