I needed to by some reeds on a Saturday, so I drove across town to The Music Store
because their Unilocal listing and their website states that they are opened until 5pm.
I arrived at 4;40 to find the doors locked and 1 employee inside who ignored me pulling on the door.

I haven’t purchased too many items from this store, because as mentioned, it tends to be on the pricey side (Amazon is easily half for most basic things: books, reeds, etc). However, my daughter has been going here for about two months for trumpet lessons and that experience has been excellent. When she wanted to change from clarinet to trumpet we rented an instrument and began weekly lessons. The staff is really nice and accommodating. The instructor has been wonderful to work with and I think it has been worth it.

so glad Matthew posted about his experience with a piano consignment with the Music Store. I had left several messages about our piano but no calls back. Brian, the owner, is hardly ever there. I appreciate the warning which makes sense since my kids took lessons there years ago and it seemed that over the two years that they were there, those consigned pianos never sold.

I had my piano taken here by movers a while ago to be sold. I believe the fee was 20%, which I was fine with. The piano had been there a while, but each time I called I was told it was still there and still for sale. I was in the neighborhood recently so I decided to stop by and see it. Not only was it not for sale, marked with a price, or on the show floor… it was in a lesson room being used for students! The bench was torn up and to top it off the associate was rude and simply told us we could take it if we wanted it. Are you serious? If they thought it wasn’t going to sell, they could have simply told me that and I would have picked it up months ago. Terrible experience, terrible customer service, I wont be back. Sad thing is I took piano lessons here when I was younger.

Very friendly local store. I was very impressed with the service. I went in for a violin string and the woman at the counter installed it and tuned my violin too! She also helped me out the door and down the curb with my baby stroller. The store was clean and open. There were several practice rooms that are used for private music lessons.
If you like good service and reasonable prices, go to The Music Store!
