$ 7.99 for a grilled cheese and bowl of turkey chili was wonderful on a very brisk day. I got to choose the bread and cheese for the sandwich. The chili was extremely flavorful and rich but not hot. My style. The service was really excellent too.

The clam chowder was oily and runny, and just plain inedible.

Great lunch spot! Chicken salad was great and my hubby loved the clam crowds and meatball sandwich. Cash only though … Come prepared. Great people!

Clam Chowder, Rueben, Egg Salad, Chili *****. Fresh made food with friendly staff. The only downside is there only room for about 20 – 25 to sit. Mostly locals eating here, but really happy the family stopped in to eat.

I came here for lunch one day while doing some Christmas shopping and was pleasantly surprised. There is a small sandwich menu on the back wall and a chalkboard with specials. Nothing too fancy, but definitely satisfying! I had a bowl of French onion soup and was warmed up and filled up. It was perfect. Onions weren’t mushy, wasn’t too salty… perfect! My bf got the pulled pork sandwich, which left him a bit hungry. It was served on a hard roll, which would have probably filled me up but definitely not him. There is added seating in the back with a great water view, so be sure to take a walk back there! Overall, great spot with good food and a comfortable, cozy atmosphere.

This is a great little spot in the middle of Rockport, MA. I’m from Hawaii, so it was nice to get a small taste of home. The place was really cute and cozy inside. There were two ladies sitting at the bar area enjoying their morning coffee and chatting with the friendliest people. Got to chat with the owners. Very nice people and service was quick! I had enough time to take a gander around and snap some photos. Didn’t get a chance to try the shaved ice, but I’m guessing from the other reviews that it was pretty close(or as close to Hawaii as New England can be). The Kalua Pork Sandwich I had was okay. It wasn’t truly authentic, but I enjoyed it. They had salads and other types of sandwiches, but that was about as far as the menu went. They have fruit smoothies as well if you’re looking for something to cool you down. All in all, it was a nice place to go and grab a bite outside of the main area. Nice people, decent food, and great location. Quick note: dogs aren’t allowed inside, but there is a bench outside for two to sit and enjoy their goodies(in the shade too!).

Not a bad little sandwich shop. Sandwiches were good, homemade style. Very hot inside the café.

this seems strictly like a lunch place, I wouldn’t be interested in sitting here for dinner at all. There are no interesting vegan options at all. good vibe to the place, interesting décor, the people seem nice but I didn’t even want to sit there eating a boring salad, so they didn’t get my business. come up with some interesting veg options and I’ll $pend!

This is my favorite lunch or dinner place in Rockport. It makes a great date spot, especially for dinner because the back dining room has lovely views of the water. When the sun is setting you can share a meal and enjoy the view. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food here is solid and reasonably priced. I have been here 6 or 7 times and I have never regretted it. The shaved ice is a great alternative to ice cream, also on a warm day the lines tend to be less crazy here. I have a great affection for Hula Moon, it’s different, romantic, and the food is good.

I can write this review not only as a patron of this restaurant, but I was known to make some killer shave ice in my day. ;) Back in the not-so-glorious days of high school, I worked at Hula Moon for a Summer with my very best friend. There were different owners back then, but the quality of the food has always been really, really good. Take it from someone who’s not only eaten it, but prepared it! It’s good stuff. I mean, banana macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup? *drool*(My apologies if this isn’t on the menu anymore… I haven’t seen it lately!) I don’t think they make shave ice there anymore, if I’m not mistaken, which is a huge bummer since that was one of the most fun things for customers to watch and eat. But the food on the menu is superb. I recently went in and had a tuna wrap, and even that was amazing! The current owners are so so nice and friendly. It’s truly a hidden gem in Rockport. I think a lot of folks focus so much on the seafood-themed restaurants that they overlook Hula Moon, and that’s a big mistake! You can get your little carton of fried shrimp anywhere. Go in here and get some kalua pig and that’ll change your tune!

First off they let me use the bathroom while I was there. Finding a bathroom was the most difficult part of my Rockport trip. I found myself getting coffee at café’s to be allowed to use the bathroom but that is just a circular problem there. Anyway the lady working there was really nice. I had some dragons blood ice thing. Of course i ordered it for the name. It was huge, I wish I had someone there to share it with. the only thing i didn’t enjoy about my trip was overhearing two high school girls flirt with the young man working there.(young man? what? does anyone want to rub bengay on meemaw’s arthritis?) I guess i’ll stick with young man, i don’t know how else to describe him. In the girls defense he was a funny kid. anyway i find most heterosexual flirting a particularly awkward thing to overhear and the fact they were in high school didn’t help. So i ate my dragon’s blood as quick as possible to escape that scene. but really none of that has anything to do with the place, just my timing. 5 Stars to you Hula Moon you are cute and I like you.

What a cute little place! Delicious homemade soup! And a nice view of the harbor from the back. My Grandfather took me here for a light snack when I went to visit him for Easter. I guess he goes here fairly often(and he’s lived in Rockport for 80 years) So everyone there knew him and were so incredibly friendly and accommodating. It’s a rarity to find a place like this. I’ll definitely be back in the summer to try some of that shaved ice!

F*cking shit Kristin M. I can’t believe you were first to review this. Obviously I was with this bitch when we stumbled in to get shave ice. When I saw the sign, I totally dragged us here to see who else was from Hawaii. The owners have ties, but not locals. Tha’s ok, they were the friendliest people and talked to us about Hawaii and all that. They had a decent number of flavors and the ice was ok for the mainland. I’ll be back since this is a Rockport local spot and not one of those tourist trap cafes that line the upper part of this street.

A bit of Hawaii in New England. Cute, relaxing, local, little café. The best part? SHAVEDICE! I got pineapple orange, piña colada, and mango flavor. hee hee :)
