Terribly disappointing. Gave credit card for Opus One Dinner five months in advance. Showed up on the day of to be told it was canceled. Even talked to the manger one month prior to confirm. Was not informed of the cancellation, even drove 2 hour the get there from where I live.

Our food was okay, but the wine prices were ridiculous. You have to read the fine print at Culpeppers, there are two sizes of wine by the glass. We asked for a $ 10 glass of wine and were charged for the $ 20 pour. There is a 3oz pour(what’s the point) and a 5oz pour(smaller than most pours I see at other restaurants). Those prices for 5oz of wine are crazy! I won’t be back unless someone else makes the call.

Food was fantastic. We’ve eater here many times. I did try a couple of new dishes. The bacon with maple syrup was a great appetizer. Just right amount of salt and sweet. Lobster mac was also a very nice side dish. I had read reviews and decided to try it. Surf and Turf was delicious. Scallops versus lobster is served with it. very nice. Service was a bit slow. May have just been the night. The band in the bar on the weekends are also very entertaining and good. Overall…a great restaurant. One of our favorites in Rockwall. Atmosphere is rustic old western. We frequent this restaurant and definitely recommend it.

We scheduled a belated NY celebration on Jan 3, 2016, party of 6. Had reservations at 5pm, were seated immediately as they were just opening. Great place, in fact one of those must see places when friends/family visit from out of town. That’s pretty much where the positives end, here’s a summary of all the issues: 1) started with a delay in bringing a glass of wine. 2) no one ordered appetizers as we wanted to save room for dessert, when the food came out the waiter apologized and said somehow one of the orders was not started… and it was just now started. Leaving 5 of us with our food, 1 without. Okay, so we had ordered the lobster mac and cheese and some other veggy dish, bring that out so that at least we’d all have something to eat. He forgot about that order. 3) I had ordered the«Flight O Fancy», which was four 3oz samples of steak, all ordered at med rare. I tried the wagyu beef and it was tough, I’ve had better«choice» grade steak. Two of the other cuts were cooked med, I signaled the waiter and told him, he said he would turn in another order, I told him just bring me a ribeye. 4) Two of our party ordered the«special» steak/clam dish, the one was supposed to have a vegetable instead of the mashed potatoes, he got the mashed potatoes instead, waiter was told, he said he would bring the replacement… he never did. 5) the two who ordered the«special» ordered their steak med and the other med rare. The med arrived pretty much rare and the med rare was med in some places, rare in other, very inconsistent. 6) by this time things were going so bad and we still didn’t have the mac and cheese/veggy sides, we just told the waiter to forget them. 7) the manager stopped by and apologized and said the mistakes were totally not the waiter’s fault but it was a computer problem!!! You got to be kidding me… By this time we were wondering how they were going to make things right. Keep in mind all this was happening with maybe 20 people in the place, not busy at all. The manager returned later and said they would comp all the food and we only had to pay for our bar tab. We were grateful for that and actually thought to offer to pay for the two«good» dinners that were served(both were sea food, ironic since this was a «steak» restaurant. On the other hand, considering how many mistakes were made and considering the price of the food… not charging us for any of it was the only right thing for them to do. Obviously, we will NOT be going back to Culpepper Steakhouse…

Went to eat Dinner on the Wednesday before Christmas Eve with our family of seven. I called and made a reservation that Monday before with no problem. Unfortunately when we showed up we were given a table that barely sat six with an additional chair at the end. Of course there was absolutely no space so we asked for the manager(Adam) who I felt was very unaccommodating and we were basically told there are no other options and that we could have a table in «the lounge», a.k.a the same sized table. I feel if you are reserving a table for seven that you should be seated at a table that sits seven, not two two tops with seven chairs squeezed in. However, The wait staff was excellent and the meal was mediocre at best for a chop house.

Came here for a light meal the other day. I’ve been here before for a family dinner. The service was excellent both times. The first time our server broke some glasses and spilled a little wine, but I think he was new and nervous. The downside was the last steak I ordered and the crab croquettes. The petite filet looked… Odd. It looked more like a sirloin pieced together by meat glue and only about half an inch tall. There was almost no flavor to it either. The crab croquettes were extremely sweet because they are basically fried balls of cream cheese with a little bit of crab. The Caesar salads were swimming in dressing so the next time I go back I guess I’ll get dressing on the side. In all reality I’ll probably opt to go to the Oar House next door.

Pros: country ambiance, great patio with water feature, excellent steak(ny strip) and pretty good filet both with mesquite smoke flavor grilled on a real grill(not baked or broiled). Cons: very close to highway so the noise level on the patio was not optimal.

The ambiance at Culpeppers exudes Texas sophistication. This is the kind of place you’d expect to look over and see J.R. Ewing sitting in one of the leather chairs, sipping on whiskey,(that’s a «Dallas» reference, an 80s TV show, for all of you confused right now). It’s a cool vibe, is what I’m saying. It’s dark, masculine, western, and a little saloon-like. The food is sublime. They offer one of the best filets I have ever had and it is always cooked to perfection They also serve truffle mac and cheese that is brilliant; baked potatoes that are strapping in size and dressed for you at the table by your server wielding a condiment caddy — my second favourite part of my meal. I have never had a bad experience at Culpeppers. They are consistent on their menu and service, and I always leave looking forward to my next visit.

When menu items carry these prices one expects to be reasonably«WOW’ed». We weren’t. Our check was what you’d expect for 2 ppl in a somewhat upscale establishment like this. We’re not broke and we’re not cheap — but we pay attention, and the more we spend the better we expect the experience to be. Service was great in my opinion. Everyone was very nice. Nice facility too. Food. .. except for the salad, not so great. Appetizer shrimp cocktail($ 16) consisted of 6 shrimps on a plate with lettuce leaves and cocktail sauce for dipping. Neither the shrimp nor the cocktail sauce were particularly special or impressive although the shrimp were large. Opinion: Poor value. The salad was enough for 2 and it was good, but it should be good when it’s $ 7 extra per order. Basically it’s a wedge of iceberg lettuce(about ¼ of a head) with dressing — and you need to cut it with a knife to eat it. My wife ordered it without realizing it was extra cost because the waitress asked simply if she wanted salad and she said yes. Most restaurants have salad as part of main entrée offerings. Not here. When the entrée was served I was asked to cut into my steak to see if it was as expected. I ordered medium rare but what they brought to me was barely even rare. Raw even. So I was faced with a situation where I could send it back –and watch my wife eat while the«chef» finished cooking my steak, then allow my wife the privilege of watching me eat when they brought it back… …Or take it as was. I took it as was. I didn’t want either of us eating alone… Not on our anniversary. Besides being basically raw, my steak wasn’t particularly tender and had extra edge fat I’d have trimmed away if I’d grilled it. My wife’s ribs were good but not exceptional. Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant(560) at the Reunion Ball is great! And about the same cost as Culpepper Steak House.

Great experience! Food was killer, service was excellent. It’s been a few years since we’ve been there. Thumbs up for sure. Only issue is no cellular service in the restaurant. Nerve racking if you have kids.

We picked up dinner here to the tune of 230.00. We expected a great dinner and since it was a birthday night, we really needed it to be wonderful. Here’s what we got, and why I’m not that impressed. ~Lobster tail, 12 ounces– 12 ounces of shell is more like it, we got four bites of overcooked slightly tough lobster for 70 dollars. I wish we had not have gotten it, it was a rip off. ~2 rib eye steaks, one medium, one well– ok sounds easy right? No, we got one that was almost rare and one medium with pink all the way through it and very fatty. The flavor was good, but we had to cook them some more in the microwave to be able to eat them. Again, over priced and not worth it ~Chilean sea bass– not very thick, a bit over cooked served over rice with sauce. I wasn’t impressed with the sauce though my friend liked it ok. ~Lobster mac and cheese-very good, nice flavor, small portion for the price. ~brussel sprouts, very good, good flavor ~dessert, blueberry dish with ice cream, we thought it was very good. All in all over priced for what you get, and a steakhouse should know how to cook steaks. The place was empty on a Tuesday night so they weren’t too busy to pay attention to details like well done, or medium. You could pick up at Outback and Pappadeaux’s and do better. We won’t be back.

way over priced. It is very proud of its drinks and steaks! I loved this place before it reinvented itself… has not been very busy there since I don’t believe. used to be standing room only when it was what it needs to be. country cooking! now its trying to be an upscale Dallas steak and chop house.

Had my last evenings meal here with Anita, Tommy and Margret last night. Food was excellent, wine was good and enjoyed time with my family before leaving for a trip. Waitress was funny and great personality. Will visit again on trip back.

I have been coming to Culpepper’s periodically for around 20 years now, and have experienced several«revisionings» of their cuisine. Through it all, the staff had always been attentive and professional. They left our table alone when we wanted to be alone, and they were right at our side when we needed anything. I don’t dispute the reviews that said they had poor service — all I can say is I’ve never had anything less than AAA quality. I have always liked the food, and at least for my tastes, each change in menu has been for the better. I may have a quirky taste in steak, because many places what I order is not exactly what I expected. But at Culpepper’s, the steak and the level of done-ness is precisely what my mind had imagined. I have eaten at many of the top-line steakhouses in DFW, and Culpepper is right there with the best of them. Other dishes are great too — I particularly recommend the spectacular-looking chicken-fried lobster when you want to impress out-of-towners. The grilled quail is perfect, and one of my sons is in a rut — he ALWAYS orders it when we visit. The sides stand up to the entrees, though, annoyingly, they must all be ordered separately. They make the best cowboy potatoes I’ve ever had, and their asparagus(and even brussel sprouts) are popular with my family. It may seem like I am building them up too much, so to avoid sounding like a shill I will admit that I have never been blown away by their appetizers, which are pedestrian(exception: the wedge salad — try it!) I have not tried all the appetizers, I admit. Maybe one is real good and I haven’t found it yet. Desserts are also a bit of a drag. They don’t even have key lime pie. Their cheesecake is just cheesecake, and bread pudding does nothing for me. Your best bet is probably the apple crisp, which comes with an extremely interesting gingery ice cream. But, in the end, I don’t come to Rockwall’s finest steakhouse for appetizers & dessert. I come for dinner, and Culpepper’s delivers. As a side note — I have never ordered the terrifyingly huge baked potato. Also, as a teetotaler, I know nothing about their wine or liquor, except that I have to thumb through three pages of whiskey & cordials before I get to the«real» desserts on the dessert menu.

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Culpeppers and couldn’t have selected a better venue. Dim lighting(not so much that you couldn’t see), tone-down music, great service and an extensive wine menu. Chad(Executive Chef) knows his wine. Ask him, he’ll steer you in the right direction. Mary(our server) was spot on with the service, without being obtrusive. We were so pleased we made reservations for Mothers Day! Thank you Culpeppers staff!

I hate to say it, actually wait. No I don’t. Texas Roadhouse has a better steak. And it’s cheaper. Don’t get me wrong, the big old Ribeye I had wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t as fantastic as I’d hoped it would be. Maybe I need to try something else on the menu and do a follow up or try it on a weekend when they are on their A game. I wouldn’t really go back and spend that kind of money on a steak unless I was invited to come along with someone else. I’ll just stick with making at home or going to Roadhouse lol. I will say however, the side dishes were pretty good. And so was the calamari appetizer. Oh and the atmosphere was really nice. Like and elegant rustic vibe. Take it or leave it, it’s definitely not the worst option in town.
