McCLain’s RV

Well, the first warning for this dealer should be that they posted a 5 star rating on themselves despite this website saying not to do that. Anyway, on to my review.
I am a previous and current customer of McClain’s in Rockwall. I bought a 5^th wheel from them in 2009. The sales process wasn’t all that bad (then). The best part of it was the briefing on the unit by the maintenance staff. From there, it goes downhill. When I brought the RV for a warranty repair the repair took over a month. This work was done ok, other than the time it took. Then I brought it in for an inspection. They told me the rubber roof had a tree penetration in it and had to be replaced. Insurance covered it and the work was done. When I got the unit back it was obvious there was no attention to detail and there is lots of shoddy work and mess everywhere. I’ve since found a different RV repair place that specializes in RV repair.
That brings me to the current time. I went in to trade in my RV and a car for a very similar but newer fifth wheel. The salesmen were good. He took my trade-​in info and told me they would call with a quote. I get the call and it seems like a fair deal (well below trade-​in values but fair), so I go down later that day to finish the deal. While I’m making sure I have the unit that I want (documented offer in hand), they come out and tell me they are very sorry but they made a $ 5000 error on the trade-​in values and ask for the documented offer back. So, the whole deal ultimately falls through. Either one of two things happened in this situation. First, they did make an honest mistake. Even if that were the case, their offer was well below trade-​in on both vehicles and they should have stepped up and honored the deal. Especially for a repeat customer. The second alternative is that the whole thing is a scam. Either way, it just made me like I got cheated.
So, if you are looking for a new high-​dollar RV and a Park Place Lexus type of pampered customer treatment, you should probably try somewhere else.
