I think they had, like 10 of their beers on tap. That blows away my local brew pubs, like Penrose and Two Brothers. And what they had was, very good. A little low on alcohol, but that just means a longer night out for us old geezers. Very knowledgeable beertenders. Revelation Stout is the finest, with Elusive IPA right behind! We tried the meat and cheese plate. The asiago was awesome! And so was the Italian Salami. Great conversations at the bar, including some snippets of «Huey Long was…» and«He took the strap to me…» God, I miss good ol’ bar talk! Overall, this place was good enough for me to tell the wife I’m moving to Rolla. I’m sure when I wake up tomorrow there’s not a chance in hell I’ll change my mind… No, really!

We made a list of our favorite things about living in Rolla and the Public House made the top 5. It’s a great space — to hang out and try some great beers. My favorite thus far was the sour they had early this year, which ran our quickly and sadly sounds like it won’t be back. :(I also like the Bird & Baby Mild and the Strawberry Wheat was good too! Boo really likes the Rod’s Cream Ale and says the IPA is WAY better than most(he usually hates them). This is also the meeting place for a bunch of different groups in town(including the local brewer’s club, M.A.S.H) so sooner or later you’ll probably find yourself here. They also have trivia night on Mondays — we’ve yet to go, mainly because we forget, and also don’t have a team. But love drinking their beer(which you can usually get at Kroger!) and are proud that they are in Rolla. Keep up the good work, guys!

Great beer and a great place to go in Rolla if you don’t want a typical college bar. We used them for beer for our wedding in St. James and it was great.

The beer here is amazing. I highly recommend getting the beer sampler with the cheesecake sampler added. The revelation is my favorite if you like Guinness you will have a new favorite too. Don’t get the chocolate tour though it’s basically just candy bar pieces you could buy a lot cheaper anywhere else.

Great place to hang with friends. Trivia on Mondays is always fun. Their cider is the best I’ve ever had, and has been a great addition for those of us with gluten intolerances. The live music on weekends is great, though it can get a bit loud. Only real issues I’ve ever had have been repeated poor service. It’s just one or two waitresses in particular, and well known which ones among our circle of acquaintances, and not really sure why they still work there after all this time, but it’s not enough to keep us from coming back.

We stopped in here twice to try the various beer. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and the beer was served at a perfect temperature. It was very enjoyable. We will go back next time we are in town.

Everything is great except for the service. The female waitresses are beyond offensive. I would be embarrassed to have them represent my establishment.

One star for service! Christians very nice but very horrible! We came in for a birthday party Christina would take one persons order out of ten then walk away, We literally had to track her down to order our drinks most of the time… Like I said nice but not the most attentive! The atmosphere was a 5 star the beer was so delicious, I recommend the cheese platter paired with there delicious IPA or there perfect stout! So yes go enjoy and be patient waiting for service!

Been in this place a couple of times. Every time the waitresses have treated me and my group terrible. Once I was with my Asian friend and they asked if he couple even speak english. Very disrespectful. Very overpriced. And they try too hard to be «hipster». Not worth your time

Somehow I’ve skipped writing a review about Public House. I’m here to tell you about all the painful hours of hangover that public house has caused me in my life because it is just so damn good. I would say PH has single handedly(Or multiple hands if you know those frisky owners) saved my lively hood when I visit Rolla. There isn’t much going on in the town, but if there is this is where its at. Good music and good beer, and the people are acceptable as well! Now, if you like a peppered, dry hopped, lager-ale that’s been fermented for 45.3134 days at 40 degrees C while monkeys fanned it with banana leaves, this is not where you will get it. While the staff may be kind enough to fan you with Banana leaves the beer is focused around keeping it simple. Public House is indeed a brewery, but the beer plays somewhat of a small role in the success of this place. You see, the beer is a catalyst to keep you engaged in conversation, thus the name«Session Beer». You’ll get a beer that’s good, you can drink a bunch and not get tired of it. But at the same time your beverage will be big and wonderful enough to keep you coming back for that one go-to beer(for me its probably the mild). If you still don’t understand, let me put it in terms of tacos. You can be blown away by a duck tongue taco with fancy cheese and pickled onions on top but you will always want that taco you have learned to love. Sometimes that taco just has chicken, cheese and lettuce and comes out of a shady cart from a guy who you can’t understand but you just know you give him a dollar and he turns it into a taco with his magical cart. And when the night comes to a close you can get a growler to go! Please, drink and ride. Don’t drink and drive. Food you say? They’ve got that too. Local cheese and meat trays that are ballin’. Even though Rolla is a small town I frequently see a lack of businesses teaming up with other as well as public house does. They know they’ve got their own beer but they love to bring in other places too. They work with local wineries, chefs and restaurants to bring in food on the weekends. Also, if you’ve got a thing for wood this place is wonderfully decorated and designed with tons of hard wood and lovely grained surfaces for you to oodle your eyes over. check it out and caress the wood. Rent the balcony for your own crew, or catch an event. Whatever you do, just drink the damn beer and have a good time! If you still aren’t convinced let me tell you this. I lived in Rolla for several years and Public House was my go to place. Once I graduated and moved to Kansas City I figured there would be tons of options! 2 years in an I’m still looking for my go to brewery that I enjoy as much as Public House, and trust me I’ve been working hard and long at finding one.

It’s such a relief to have a place like this in Rolla and I’m really glad to see they’re doing well. The beers are good of course. The Hide n Seek hefeweizen tastes just as advertised –yum. The cloves give a hint of banana flavor that could appeal to just about any beer tastes. Get the honey with your cheese plate. It’s a perfect combo. Live music has been good. Service is relaxed and they’ve created the perfect ambiance for those not looking for a noisy, wild scene but want somewhere to unwind and visit. I will say the crowd tends to be a little older, but maybe ate a good thing for you.

Excellent Stout. Great, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly locals. A pleasant surprise during my visit to Rolla. Just had chips to snack on so can’t vouch for the food menu, but the beer was excellent.

I’d love to give a higher rating as the Hefeweizen I had was quite good. However, I’d planned on having dinner and another beer before I left. When I arrived I sat at the bar and it took forever to even get an acknowledgement that I was there. The barmaid was probably the most unfriendly one I’ve encountered in a long time. She threw a menu and beer list down in front of me when she finally decided to wait on me and then disappeared again. I finally got my beer and was never asked if I wanted to eat even though I’d looked through the minimalist menu and was planning on ordering something. I’d ridden on my bike in the rain over 400 miles and was really looking forward to something good to eat and a couple of beers. But, I decided to cut my losses and just stopped at Kroger and picked up a few things and went back to my room. I still can’t figure out why I even tipped her a buck after such poor service. BTW, I’m the guy who was in there around 6pm with all my riding gear on if you need to figure out who wrote this review.

Great beer! Great sandwiches! The roast beast is out of this world. The service is great! If you are anywhere close, stop in and have a great beer and some great food, with a side of smiling service.

This is the best microbrewery in rural Missouri. Great artisan cheese plate and they do occasional tastings and beer schools. Best of all is their music. Local blue grass. The banjo like you’ve never heard it

Rolla has a brew pub?!? Yeah! I’m from Colorado. Oscar Blues and Lefthand are less than 2 miles from my house. Expand that radius to 25 miles and you get Mountain Sun, Boulder Brewery, Avery, Upslope, New Belgium, Odell’s, etc., etc., etc. Needless to say, I have very high standards for brew pubs. The Public House holds up well. The atmosphere is great. Some of the beers are excellent, most are very good. Only one or two should be avoided. The one drawback is the food menu — just a few appetizers and a smattering of sandwiches.

The concept is great — a cool brewpub with live music, cool décor, and artwork on the walls. They also serve some light food, but encourage you to bring in food from local joints if you so desire. The upstairs loft was a great place to enjoy a few beers. Check out the coffee table up there that has set of apartment mailboxes inlayed into the top. There’s also an old timey phone that was fun to tinker with after a few beers. There’s a good selection of beer, along with wine and scotch for non-beer drinkers. Honestly, I’ve had better, more flavorful, beer, but it was good, and the ambiance made up for any beer snobbery on my part. Definitely worth a stop if you like beer and are in Rolla.

While I was visiting my always lovely in-laws in Rolla, we decided to check out the town’s(only) brew pub. We decided to check it out after a rousing dinner. While I am not a beer expert, I have been known to enjoy a brew or two in my time and I was pleasantly surprised at what I saw here. First off, the décor is pretty impressive. You can tell that the owners really want to make sure that this place looks good. It reminds me of a Bridge in St. Louis except the wood is a bit darker. Also the layout is pretty neat as well. However we were there for the board games and beer. I ended up with a sampler which was served with paired with chocolate. I suck at pairing beers with food so this was pretty neat. I really enjoyed the Mild and Hefeweizen selections. Next time I visit Rolla, I’ll have to stop by there with a growler because it was worth it. I really didn’t get any food but from what I could taste, the beer was pretty good. Nothing too overpowering, just good beer and a relaxing atmosphere. Next time I’ll have to get some food but from what I saw, it warrants 4 stars. Definitely a place to visit if you’re in Rolla!
