I usually don’t write reviews, but when I received truly exceptional service from Service Advisor (Mike Likvan) of U.S. Waterproofing and Construction I wanted others to know. Here’s their address (U.S. Waterproofing, 5650 Meadowbrook, Rolling Meadows, IL), and the link to their website:

I called U.S. Waterproofing regarding a primary and battery backup sump pump system for my daughter and son-in-law’s home in the Southwest Ohio area. I watched the videos they have on their website about pumps and had a few more questions. Although U.S. Waterproofing only services Chicagoland, Mike still spent 40 minutes with me on the phone, educating and coaching me on sump pumps, battery backup systems, and installation of both. He provided me with several field tested and reliable options. On top of the time we spent on the phone, Mike followed-​up with a very detailed two (2) page email on the do’s-and-don’ts of proper sump pump selection, accessory components, and installation.
Keeping in mind that I wasn’t purchasing either the service or sump pumps from U.S. Waterproofing, Mike still assisted me and educated me on a subject about which I had no previous knowledge. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and personable. Mike’s service was above and beyond satisfying — it was exceptional. With Mike’s assistance, I will feel comfortable knowing my daughter and son-in-law’s home will be well protected during rain storms.
I would highly recommend U.S. Waterproofing and especially Service Advisor Mike Likvan to anyone, because the folks there «walk the talk». Mike has proven that the mission statement they have of wanting to provide «peace of mind through education and a wealth of knowledge» is something they truly do for people — even those of us who might never become a customer.

I had need of a couple of minor cracks repaired. They was so accommodating that it ended up being repaired same day as quote was given. It is so refreshing to see people give service any more. I have used them a few times, never been disappointed. I once used a competitor of there’s was disappointed. You get what you pay for I guess. There cost only slightly more.

i had US Waterproofing come out to install a new sump pump and battery backup system two weeks ago. Ron was excellent to work with. The installation was quick and looks great. His team did a great job and didn’t leave a mess. They even hauled away the old pump. Last night we had intense rain and a power outage. Yes, the backup pump kicked in and worked like a champ! The new system is quieter than the original and I’m very happy with it.
Highly recommend them!

We had water seeping into our basement and called U.S. Waterproofing for help. Mike Likvan was very helpful over the phone and helped us to diagnose the problem. We sent over a few photos and were able to resolve the problem without a service call. Mike was very patient and helpful.
We’ll be calling them first if we have any future issues.

Had U.S. Waterproofing seal a few cracks at my parents house. They also suggested a backup sump pump as they were going to have their basement finished. The project took about 3 hours after waiting about a week for them to come out. The installers were clean and even put on booties. I’m hoping it’s the last of my water problems. Price seemed pretty reasonable.

Edit: Matt from US Waterproofing called me directly to address this after posting, he apologized for the problems and asked how he could rectify them. Unfortunately I’m no longer in the market for this work so won’t have an opportunity to re-​review, but someone did follow up…

I used U.S. Waterproofing to seal some cracks in my basement. (It was a huge mess and I did my Unilocal research). I liked USW the best. The salesperson (name was Jason) was very thorough in his explanation of what was to be done and made me feel comfortable with the process. Two words: fair price! The best part is that they were able to get a fast install date while still in my home. The installer was out at my home in 4 days as promised and was awesome. (He even helped move a couple of items away from the cracks that I forgot to do myself). I can’t tell you how appreciative I am of all the people that worked with me at U.S. Waterproofing. Great service!

I called U.S. Waterproofing because I had some friends and family that used them. I had wet carpeting in my basement and it was leaving a bad smell in my basement because of it. My nieces and nephews like to play down there so it was important to make sure that I fixed the problem ASAP. Despite the referral my father always told me to get three estimates. The other companies told me that i would need to tear up my basement and do the work from the inside. U.s. Waterproofing came out and ran a «hose test». Within about 10 minutes water started coming in. They said that I could fix the problem from the outside and not tear up my basement. I was so relieved and excited that I signed with them on the spot. They dug up my house and applied a «membrane» onto the basement. I have not had a drop of water since and there have been a few rains that I would normally have a problem. I can’t tell you how happy I was that I didn’t have to tear up my kid’s play area. I will continue the «trend» and recommend U.S. Waterproofing to all my friends and family!

I had U.S. Waterproofing come out to my home to install a sump pump and repair two cracks in my foundation. My installer Miguel was very polite and clean. I got 3 other estimates from other companies who were a little cheaper but decided on U.S. Waterproofing because off their warranty .
I will surely recommend them to my fiends and family.

We had two crews of guys that did the work. Both crews were very friendly and explained what they were doing. We are very happy with their work

I wanted to finish my basement but I was getting water with large rains so naturally I was worried. I called out 3 companies, one of which was U.S. Waterproofing. All 3 companies had the same solution for me, but it was U.S. Waterproofing that explained to me why I was getting the water and from where it was coming from. I felt much better about using U.S. for my waterprooofing work. It turned out that I needed a drain tile system and the best part is that they covered the whole floor under their warranty. The other companies were barely there more than 20 minutes and it made me feel that they just pitch a drain tile system no matter what the problem was. The installation went smoothly and it was much less dirty than the salesperson said it was going to be. I have now since finished my basement and got through the whole summer without a drop of water. Thanks U.S. Waterproofing!

U.S. Waterproofing fixed a crack in our basement wall that was allowing water to enter the basement during heavy rains. I compliment their use of FaceTime to look at the exterior and interior situation remotely, and provide a reasonable cost estimate for the repair. The job was completed in about an hour and the area where the crew worked looked completely undisturbed when they left. Since the repair the water leaking has stopped. (I waited until we had some serious rains to write this review) USW held to their estimate with no additional charges. I recommend anyone call them for help with basement water issues. I want to first of all commend Martin R., the lead foreman for the project at my home and his crew. Nothing short of professional and courteous. His calm demeanor and patience with my questions made me feel that my home was in good hands. He took care of my home as if he were taking care of his own home. The quality of work was exceptional and every evening, leaving my space picked up and at the end, cleaned up, replanting my uprooted plants that required digging up to make way for removing debris through a basement window.
I also want to acknowledge Charles H., who first came to my home to speak with me about waterproofing options. Charles impressed me greatly with his level of expertise, his incredible knowledge on every step of the process and detailed explanation on all the products used by U.S. Waterproofing.
My home is safe and this investment, although not one I expected to endure just 5 months after purchasing my home, was the right decision, with the right company, with the right experience. High marks all around to everyone, from the first moment I called and asked for an appointment through the very end, with my final goodbye handshake with Martin R. and his crew.

There was an issue with our service. They reached out to us promptly. There manager came and checked everything out together with a good tech. It is fixed properly. I am omitting one star for the issue, but over all they did a good job.

I got totally overcharge for the work they did. I should’ve gone to Unilocal first!!! Hopefully the job they did works. They promise things they didn’t deliver and reception rude and never received a call back stay away from this company rude unprofessional

I wanted to finish my basement but knew I needed to make it free of water or any seepage whatsoever. I have kids so keeping water and mold out was VERY important. I shopped around and chose to go with US Waterproofing based on how well they explained what needed to be done and how it works. I couldn’t be happier with how easy and fast the process was. The salesman, crew and customer service were all very professional and they worked around my schedule and got it done it two days. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to use them and suggest them to anyone I know that wants to have their basement free of water. Highly Recommended

We bought our home and after rehabbing found out the foundation was cracked and we needed a sump pump and drain system. The estimate was fair, the workers were efficient and we’ve had horrible rain these last few days and the basement is dry. Job well done!

Sales person came and gave quote of $ 663.00 for 1 crack, Service rep came out and dug a hole 6 inches and put black sealant and poured concrete mix in the hole with water and buried with dirt within 25 mins! Biggest rip off experience ever! Look into doing the job yourself if the crack in not severe. Would not recommend US Waterproofing to anyone!

Buyer beware, you’re meeting with a salesperson.
So I had a foundation crack and got quotes from three different places. Places one and two said that the crack was no big deal, just get it patched and bury your downspouts to keep water away from the house. US Waterproofing’s guy told me that my foundation wall was caving in and we’d either have to stop the movement for the low low price of $ 15,000 or push the wall straight again for the even lower price of $ 30,000. The first thing he wanted me to do though, was strip all the drywall from my finished basement’s wall so he could get a better look at the problem we were dealing with.
Since his assessment was so different than the other two opinions I received, I had a structural engineer take a look at the problem. The engineer examined the wall and told me it was completely straight and that the crack was an expansion crack, and if I really wanted to fix it, I should just have it patched (like the first two folks told me).
Remember, when you call these guys out, they are hoping to cover the cost of their free estimate with a very expensive repair job. I can’t vouch for the quality of their work, but homeowners need to be careful. If it’s foundation related, get a few opinions and hire a structural engineer. I would not recommend them to anyone based on my experience though.

I needed 2 cracks in my concrete basement sealed. I’ve set up an appointment on their website the night before, they had an estimator come out in the morning. He found 5 more cracks that needed sealing. He will sit you down, talk about the company and pitch an estimate to you. VERY EXPENSIVE. Don’t hesitate to negotiate with him. I was able to bring the price down significantly. We both agreed on a price, I’ve signed a contract that day, their work team came out a couple weeks later. They sealed said cracks without having to drill through the concrete; thus, there was no mess. It took them a few hours to complete 7 cracks. I was pretty satisfied with their work.
2 cons:
1. Their pricing is outrageous. Make sure to negotiate.
2. It doesn’t seem like the company communicates with each other effectively. I had an issue with the billing department; who can’t seem to communicate properly with the estimator or their workers; thus, it screwed up the scheduling. They were supposed to come out a day before; but they didn’t due to their miss communications between each department.

Found a small amount of water in the basement and was fearing the worst. I envisioned the floor needing to be torn up, spending huge amounts of money, etc. Luckily Shawn F. from U.S. Waterproofing did some investigation and found that the source of the water was likely the furnace.
He recommended we call an HVAC guy, which I did. The HVAC guy confirmed it was just a leaky connection.
Total cost for the visit from U.S. Waterproofing: $ 0.
Can’t say enough about the honesty of their service!

I had a great experience with the professional who came out to my home. I was happy to work with a knowledgable and trustworthy individual. He was quick to access the issue and offer solutions. I didn’t feel pressure to make a decision immediately, I was able to speak with my husband and the sales person even went as far as to answer my husbands questions after hours.
This is the second time we have used uswp, I actually remember them coming out when I lived in northbrook, in my childhood home, i guess i am the second generation!
This company has integrity, they give a fair and honest price, they have built a great reputation and if I ever have any foundation or water issues, they will continue to be my first call.
