This is my second time trying this place. I thought I’d give it another even though I wasn’t so impresded with my first visit a few months ago. Fish tacos weren’t bad, but soft tacos were doughy and sticky. The chips were stale and the guacamole is tasteless. You’re better off going to Moe’s. Better yet drive, over to New Hartford and get Chipotle. But if you want really fresh food eat at Two Tones.

Negatives: Chain restaurant. Limited selection on beans an rice. Guacamole is always oxidized.
Positives: I can get a half-​way decent fish taco in Rome, NY. The food is always OK. The staff is fast and friendly. Nice interior.
Don’t get the fish taco their way. Nix the cheese and tartar sauce, and get extra lime, sour cream, and cilantro instead. Other than that, it’s not a bad joint.

Ok I tried it. Nice décor but that is it. Thats why I gave it one star. Burrito shell not grilled, small slab of sour cream, very little cheese, black beans were good, chicken was flavorless and they barely put any meat on it, medium salsa was bland. So BLAND BLAND BLAND BLAND. I have been to 100 burrito shops in USA and this is not good. It is the same as Moes’ BLAND. Chipotle & Burrito Jonz is so much better. To bad Burrito Jonz is in Herkimer not Rome or Utica.

Gave this place a couple tries only to be dissatisfied with each visit. Food is anything but Mexican. It is a burrito shop and nothing more. Food was anything but fresh. Opening day the chips that were served were stale, how does that happen for your grand opening.
Selection of food has choice but the toppings seem to be anything but fresh. On each of my visits I have found the employees to seem to not really care about customers or customer service.

New Hartford, NY
This is our first… and not our last visit. Wanted to try something new besides the Franklin, DeMattoes etc. The carnitas is great! All the food is made right in front of you just as you want it. The young man working was very helpful and quickly filled our four orders. The prices are good as well. The restaurant is California surf style… which was nice on a dreary, rainy Sunday. The place is very clean and there are plenty of seats available. Seriously… I was thrilled when Moe’s opened… but this is much better and worth the 15 – 20 min drive!!! Give it a try.

Working in Rome gives me a chance to try out food all over this city. If you have to pick a Mexican/​Baja/​Up-​scale burrito/​taco joint in the Rome area– this is it. Solid food, great prices, you see what you order, very friendly, hasn’t disappointed me yet.

I love Taco Del Mar!
Not only is the food great, it’s made to order, in front of you, jst the way you want it.
Choose tacos, burritos, nachos, salad etc… then pick you meat… then your toppings.
Fantastic food and great prices!
AWESOME NACHOS TOO!

Rome, NY
Tough to find good Mexican in CNY. This place was a lot like California style burritos. Carnitas was amazing. Inside is clean and nice. Make sure you peel your burrito or it will fall apart as they are so large and stuffed. I like my burritos to pack meat so I also get double meat.
