Sadly, PB& J is no longer. It has been removed as part of a remodel of the food offerings in this part of the low A gates at DTW.

As of 10÷9÷15, this place is either permanently closed or under renovation. I suspect the former as there’s other restaurants being advertised on the renovation. What a bummer! :(I really enjoyed this place as a healthy alternative to all the grease and fat!

Seems like an interesting idea with poor execution. Service was crazy to slow for this type of concept. They’re not cooking anything(except maybe the bacon … but I’d put my money on microwave.) I watched as people walked away as no. one would greet them or take their order. I waited close to 10 mins for the exception… cinnamon swirl bread(didn’t taste fresh) with pb, grape jelly, honey, and bacon. Nothing apecial. $ 6. Needs to be better and quicker to make it.

So good! I had creamy PB, strawberry jam, honey and bananas. Quick service and nice staff.

Ahhh pb&j. It’s something that is a favorite no matter where you are. Outside gate A7 at the Wayne County Int’l Metro Airport(DTW) you’ll find such a place. They have 4 kinds of jams and 2 kinds of peanut butter, Chunky or smooth. I went with the classic grape jam and chunky pb. Little carton of milk and I was in business. Tasty sandwich all washed down with milk really hit the spot. So if you’re near A7 in Dtw this is must have to bring back those childhood memories.

Airport food can be a bit of a crap shoot. Most are over priced and down right awful. But I can’t help but like this place. Located at the Terminal A food court by Gate A7. They have 7 different options of bread, 4 various jams &2 peanut butters. I went with the PB&J basic sandwich. It had Strawberry Jam on white bread with a creamy peanut butter. Can’t understand all the negative reviews for this place. Who doesn’t like an old fashioned PB&J sandwich once in a while? If your stranded at the airport(like me), or have time between connecting flights have some comfort food. Prices are reasonable, sandwich & a beverage was under $ 10.They also have a small selection of yogurts & granola if you choose to go with healthier options. This is something that I never thought I’d see at a food court before. This was a pleasant surprise.

I found the service to be agreeable and attentive! The Exception was ridiculously good. How can you go wrong though having bacon onboard. I would eat here again I like the simplicity of it.

Food was solid. Fresh. Got the wheat bread with creamy PB. Strawberry Jelly. Banana. With a water it was $ 8.16. Not cheap. Issue is with the service. After I places my order I stood there for what seemed like 10 minutes and after the line cleared they thought I wanted to order. Major fail. The purpose is fast service at an airport. Had it been a shorter timeline one could miss their plane. They also didn’t ask if I wanted my bread toasted and when I indicated I didn’t get my sandwich they had no idea what I ordered. The sandwich was good, nothing outstanding. Standard pb&j. Bread and banana was fresh. If you’re looking for a pb&j it hits the spot.

Loved the sandwich, but the service was SLOOOOOOWWWWWW. The trouble wasn’t the making of sandwiches, it was reading the slip to determine what was on order.

I had to do a double take when I saw the sign for PB&J as I can’t remember a quick serve restaurant with such a simple concept. I went old school with a crunchy peanut butter sandwich with marshmallow cream and chocolate. I liked that there were several bread options, so I felt a little better with my gooey sandwich being on multigrain instead of standard white bread. The crunchy peanut butter was stick to the roof of your mouth perfection, but unfortunately the marshmallow cream and chocolate sauce were runny. They were thinned out so as to be dispensed by squeeze bottle which probably isn’t the best approach to sandwich construction. It made keeping my paws clean a bit of a challenge. While I did receive a single wet nap with my order, I could have easily blown through several more and not removed all the childhood treat from my hands. The service detracted from my dining experience as the lone diva behind the counter seemed put out that I wanted to interrupt her socializing by making her do work. She assembled the sandwich quickly, but she didn’t seem the least bit happy wit her work. If there was an option to toast the sandwiches, that could make PB&J a game changer at the airport. Nothing like a little childhood comfort food while on the fly. The concept is great, and the menu is accessible to children and the young-at-heart. With all the fancy gourmet restaurants in DTW, it’s nice to find something that parents can take their kids to and guarantee a successful dining experience.

Love the concept, but the execution and service is definitely below the«nostalgia» they present on their signs. The staff should smile and portray that«like mom used to make» vibe, but, instead they frown and do not connect to the customer at all. This should be a fun experience and it is not. Also, they need to use gourmet ingredients(better bread, high end peanut butter — not distributor generic brand, etc.) in order to command a $ 6 price point. I’ve given this place 3 opportunities and today was my final attempt.

Love this place. I visit every time I’m at DTW. Great thick cut bread that is always fresh and pillowy. Interesting variations of the PB&J sandwich. I had my first Smore style sandwich and my first Fluffernutter here. Changed my view of sandwich making using marshmallow fluff! Over time they seem to have become a little stingy with the spreads, but it’s still a solid choice at the airport food court and easily one of the healthiest if you don’t go crazy with the Fluff.

Its a place that serves PB&J…4 stars automatically, I love this idea and in an airport it is refreshing to have. They have several options that you can have your childhood fav… Or college café fav in my case. The several types of jelly, peanut butter, and bread are all there for you to create your ideal PB&J. it is what it is, you either like this place or hate it. Whatever the case is there aren’t too many of these around!

Great concept for airport/comfort food, poor implementation, and awful service. I don’t expect much, as a frequent traveler, when it comes to airport food and the accompanying service. However, one would presume that«gourmet PB&J» is a pretty simple idea to excel at, especially with the service/food bar set so low. As other Unilocalers have pointed out, there just isn’t anything gourmet or worth the high cost of this place. They’re not set up well to accommodate more than one sandwich being assembled at a time, so service and wait time really suffers, plus some add-on items, such as bacon, need to be brought over from another kitchen in the food court(at least it’s fresh bacon). I love a good ol’ PB&J, and loved the opportunity to create one with my own unique tweaks, so I ordered«The Exception,» which is a peanut butter, bacon, and banana sandwich on their cinnamon-swirl bread. I added marshmallow fluff for good measure and to pay tribute to the Elvis favorite, the fluffernutter sandwich. I was given the choice between chunky or creamy peanut butter, the cashier took my payment, and I waited. And waited. And waited. Several other orders went in after mine, and all of those patrons received their sandwiches, but with the dinner rush, only one sandwich was being assembled at a time, and this process really slowed everything down. The employees clearly had no interest in helping one another out or letting waiting customers know that their $ 8PB&Js were going to be ready soon. Finally, my sandwich is delivered to me, with a side of grease from that undrained fresh bacon, in a paper bag. It smells heavenly, and my mouth is watering. Sadly, the seduction ended there. The bread was dry and stale, the peanut butter was seeping through the bread, bacon grease was dripping everywhere, and it was all a hot mess(and not in a good way). I ate half and threw the other half away.

The idea of this place is pretty genius. Especially when they were open at 6am for my early flight out of town. I got a PB and honey with banana sandwich. All of the nutrition I needed for a long day of travel and work! Even though it was expensive, I thought it was a pretty good deal for airport dining. There was only 1 person making sandwiches and cashiering. She was very slow and could care less that everyone was a little rushed to catch a flight. They also did not serve coffee; forcing a second stop before boarding. Overall, I will most definitely stop here again over the $ 152 egg omelet shop down the way.

This is the best idea ever! I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches but never make them because I would have to eat so many with that much bread and peanut butter lol! Before my flight I was kind of hungry, so wanted to take something on the plane with me for my 4 hour flight. I saw this place and thought it was perfect. I ordered a standard PBJ on white bread… but it was amazing! After about two hours on the place, this was the perfect snack to go with Delta’s free soda. I fly out of the airport about four times a year and this will be my go to place for a snack to take on the plane with me. :) Even though I ordered a standard sandwich… nothing fancy. They have lots of options! Bananas, different kinds of peanut butter and jelly, and the marshmallow whipped stuff too.

I had a connecting flight from Philly that stopped in Detroit on my way to Orlando. It was a random connection. But the highlight for me was one of the best PB&Js I’d ever had. And this happened in a Detroit airport of all places. The bread, peanut butter and jam all worked together. This«PB& J» spot made my Detroit connection worth it.

I stopped by this place during a layover at the Detroit airport. I got excited when I saw this place thinking that they would offer some amazing new variations on the classic PB&J. Nope, it’s all pretty standard. They do offer marshmallows and other different things as ingredients, but I ended up getting a basic PB&J with honey. It was expensive for something I could have easily made at home. The only notable thing about it was the thick slices of bread used that was good to soak up the jelly.

Ordered chunky with blackberry jam and chocolate on cinnamon swirls. Problem: the bun was super thick. And a bit dry. So lots of bread making the only two or three good bites the very middle. Also for over 5 bucks for a pbj, I would’ve expected organic stuff. Gourmet this is not but not a horrible option if u want something simple

C’mon… a PJ+J restaurant in an airport? That’s almost as awesome as a picnic basket full of corgi puppies wearing these vests I’m pretty accustomed to terrible, palate depressing vittles when I travel, so this was quite the fun find while stopping through Detroit. With a crunchy peanut butter spread nestled by a dollop of Marshmallow Fluff, sandwiched with two pieces of artisan bread, and chased with a jigger of Makers Mark at the bar a few steps away… and it was quite the nostalgic treat, but with a 21+ twist. Haters gonna hate… but don’t pay any attention. This spot rolls on B.L.A.D.‘s.
