Friends invited me out one night and said, «We’re going to try this bar called ‘Parsnips’» Instantly in my head I thought, «Oh wow, maybe this is like on a golf course. ‘Par’ ‘Snips’»
Like the other men, I wore a nice collar shirt, with new khakis and the girls all wore pretty dresses with their hair done and what not… We get there and immediately my first thought was «This is nowhere near a golf course»
Walk in, first thing I saw was a mid aged women, wearing leggings with rips on the knees, a camo printed hunter jacket and Crocs, she was accompanied by (assuming her husband) A grey bearded man, wearing a heavily worn denim jacket, jean shorts with work boots. Clearly we’re all over dressed. But whatever, make an awkward situation fun.
Cheap drinks, Funny entertainment, and now an amazing story to tell.

Fun Bar on the Lake!
My wife and I usually stop by here for a couple of drinks on the way to or from dinner. You won’t find a bunch of kids cramming the place and the bartenders always treat us like family. In the warmer weather, we like to hang out on the deck that overlooks the lake and relax.
We also like going on sat nights since my wife gets $ 2 drinks (which means so do I ;))

As an outsider stopping in, very friendly customers and bar-​tenders. The dj on the weekend is exceptional, playing a variety of music, and also very friendly. He plays great dance music and always fits requests in. Very nice outdoor deck on Lake Ronkonkoma.

This is a trashy dive bar which is exactly why i like it. the cliental is either 40+ or on some kind of drug that you wouldn’t want to know any more about. It’s old, dark and in ronkonkoma… which should sum it up… but when you feel like purely enjoying a drink without the fuss of an outfit, makeup and pleasing those around you, this is where i like to go. i can be trash for a night, not care about anything but my drinky… and it’s a good time. even though the lake is icky, parsnip is right on the lake with a deck that overlooks it. at night when you’ve had a few, it creates a good atmosphere away from the dive inside. it’s a novel thing and i suggest those that want a change from the «scene» give it a try… go with a buddy, this is NOT a date spot.

I am giving this place 3 stars basically because I am always entertained; whether it be the patrons themselves, or a fight, or just the bartenders. This place used to be a hot spot back in the day and now it has turned into the dive bar that attracts an older crowd (50+), where everyone knows your name. I guess that’s a good thing, however if you’re looking to meet new people, you won’t because it’s the same faces every week. The bartenders during the week before 10pm are not really bartenders (with the exception of Richie!). They can be found hanging out after their shift polishing off their drinks. I used to go on Saturday night, but the bartender (Tiny I think they call him)(who is not so tiny!), is kind of a pig when it comes to the women. So I tried Friday night and there are 2 male bartenders who are pretty cool. Granted, they never charge the same price for a drink, which I think is unfair, but they are generous in doing shots with you. The owner is very nice and the place itself is small. Lately, they’ve had a DJ who I think enjoys playing only the music from his generation (again, older). Because when you request a song from today’s generation, he says ‘sure’ and then never plays it. There are definitely some strays that come in looking for trouble after 1am, be aware!
It’s an alright joint if you just want to get a quick drink before you go out to a real place, or on the way home while eating your little vincents pizza…

crowd is older and strange. Only two positives: always open both early and late and has a outdoor deck.

My home away from home. Always go there when I need a little drinky drink. Very friendly staff that remembers your name and drink. Come check it out!

I know sunset is a few hours after dinner time but this place usually gets super dark around midnight.

This isn’t really a bar… It’s a theme park known as Cougar Town USA. The rides are a bit old, but most of them are maintained pretty well.

The music is not bad. It is definitely an older crowd like forty, fifty year olds go there.
