Shanghai Restaurant

This has to be the only chinese food restaurant that doesn’t have rice or noodles or something to come with things like beef and broccoli. Now the fried shrimp comes with rice but anything else you buy will *only* the toppings. There is no rice included. My mother, who was visiting for a short time, asked if there was a good amount of broccoli in the dish she ordered. The woman taking the order said they can add broccoli if she likes. My mother said she would like a good amount and will pay extra for it. When we got home we saw they added only 2 small pieces of broccoli. The food was way over priced for the amount you get, for how long you wait, and it doesn’t have rice! Now I understand why it’s always empty when I drive pass.

Food was great, place was clean service was a little rusty. We walked in on a Friday night, one couple seated at a table waiting for their food, one couple waiting at the door for a to-​go order. Took about 30+ minutes to get our food which was 2 soups and egg rolls. It’s just the husband and wife working, but I think they might need a little more help?! Was great other than that.

I love this place. I’m a regular. The food is great. I always get combo fried rice, egg rolls, wonton soup, and my gf gets cashew nut chicken something thing.
Customer service is great. The owner takes the time to get to know you and is very personable.
The appearance is just fine, inside and out. Anyone who says otherwise probably fears getting mugged or sexually assaulted any time they step out of their front door. Please keep your pessimism to yourself and not lower business’ Unilocal stars unless there is a genuine problem.

The only reason for 4 stars is yes the décor… the food is very good we always get the Kung Pao and the Combo Fried rice is to die for. But what the place lacks in, it makes up in taste, value, portions and especially friendliness! the woman there always knew my children s names, and asked about them when we did take out. Very nice people

An Asian restaurant who tells us «We dont have rice or Teriyaki Chicken». Do everyone a favor then and sell Burgers lol. Ridiculous!

I admit that the only reason that we came here is that we got fed up waiting for reluctant service at a neighboring Thai restaurant. And to be honest the food here probably is somewhere just below 4stars, but being hungry the food hit the spot. The Kung Pao 3 Delights was surprisingly yummy and the House Pan Fried Noodles were good. The service was very attentive and very friendly, making the food taste better.

Beef and broccoli is the mother of all comfort foods for me. Pair that with some crab rangoon and won ton soup and you have got yourself one delicious meal going on. The food has lots of flavor. Like everyone has basically already said, the place looks a little shady (but hello, it is in Rosamond… on the east side of the 14) but I think it makes it the perfect hole in the wall restaurant. The food is made to order and they don’t skimp out on size or taste. Its usually pretty quiet but if you get chatty with the workers they are really nice.

Mike and Chris are right. It doesn’t have such a perfect look but well makes up for it in food taste. I will return!

Dont judge a book by it’s cover the food here is good. It’s an old place and the owners do what they can, but the food is always cooked to order and fresh. NO HOT LAMPS HERE. I’ve know them almost my whole life and they are a true American story. They are Taiwanese and came here with nothing. They bust they’re butt and your food is made by real Taiwanese. The Orange Chicken is not a soggy mess but cruchy with a sweet tangy sauce. Try the beef and green onions or the War wonton soup. The egg roles (and I love them) are homemade well everything is homemade. The Combo Fried rice is to die for or if you want a real treat get the crispy Shimp. Eveything you eat here is made by the owners.

O.K. I must concede the argument. The place needs an overhaul! But what the place lacks in bells and whistles it makes up in taste, value, portions and especially friendliness! They always remember our family, our last conversation, and our likes and dislikes. The shrimp in shezuan sauce is always fresh and full of flavor. not skimpy at all with the shrimp. and the size are maybe 25 – 30 size shrimp. My wife orders the beef with green onions, very good. the lunch consists of soup, eggroll, paper wrapped chicken and pork wonton. In the 20 years we’ve been going here, never once are we dissapointed. When we first arrived I asked if they can put extra ginger and now I never have to ask. We will always go here and take all our friends here also.

I’ve eaten here probably 5 or 6 times, and have never had a bad meal. The woman who owns the place greets me warmly every time I walk through the door, and seems to remember what I last had. She’s a hoot! I really like the curry chicken here. Food is plentiful, you will not leave hungry.

High-​priced, not-​so-​good food. All our group’s meat meals had way too much celery, water chestnuts, cabbage, etc. And you just can’t paint over cracked plaster. Furniture and well, everything needed an overhaul. Huge aquarium was the only nice touch. Same old crummy sake and beer selection. Unfortunately the only oriental restaurant in town so no competition. Bleah.

Ewwwww! I’m convinced the only reason this is still open is because new Edwards AFB folks eat here until they find something in Lancaster.
The food is marginal — makes you wonder where the meat came from. A friend claims she saw a cockroach on the wall in the dining room.
There are two thai restaurants in town if you need Asian food.
