Ok so I had to write a review, I loved this place when we first came, my hubby saw a review on channel 11 news and he said we must try, no lie the food was pretty good at first and the second time, but 3 rd time we saw something disturbing we glanced over to the kitchen and saw one of the cooks drop a plate of steamed dumplings and put them back on plate and served them to the next table and of course I had to tell the young couple sitting next to us that there food had falling to the floor and they just got served it… So please do not eat here, unless you want to eat your food from the floor

Found this place from facebook. Place needs a major cleaning… can smell bathroom from the tables. Staff not happy and felt like they wanted to be anywhere but where they were. When they were not cleaning tables, taking orfers and taking cash they were making dumplings at a table on the side. Never seen them wash their hands and they were not wearing gloves! Was looking forward to a beef noodle soup and of course they did not have beef!!! Ordered lamb instead. The soup was good but could not stop thinking about the conditions the soup was prepared in. No brainer… will not be coming back and would highly recommend going somewhere else.

When I roll up to this joint… I think, I WANTITALL. I’ve been blessed to try many of their items. They’re all tasty. Especially the beef noodle soup. –1 star because the AC was off and the lady tried to leave it off for the longest time ever. She finally turned it on when the store filled up. Don’t even talk to me about how it’s a business and maybe they’re trying to save money and or electricity. I ain’t here to hear about your financial problems. I’m here to eat some delicious beef noodle soup in a cool environment. Hai phong noodles up the street always has their AC blasting.

My sister took us here after a long hike and I’ll warn you now, it’s not the prettiest place to look at. The service could be better but the food is very delicious and I would definitely go back. They’re known for their«Knife Shaved Noodles» here that are made from shaving off strips of noodles from the dough with a knife, rather than being pulled. We ordered two medium beef noodle soups. Although we were sharing, the portions were still small so I’d recommend a large for 2 people, a medium for 1. But, if you plan to try a bunch of other things, medium will suffice. The big winner at this place are the buns! I forget the exact name but it’s the pan fried pork buns and they’re magical. You must get! Forewarning, they’re HUGE and we were only able to eat one or two. However, take them home and microwave one bun with a damp paper towel for 45 seconds and it’s good as new. You must get those buns!!!

Its all about the hand made noodles for a great bowl of noodle soup. The texture is different and more rustic and chewy. Love the thick oddly shaped strips of knife cut noodles. Came here specifically for that and that alone. Got myself a bowl of knife cut beef noodle soup. noodles were thick and chewy. soup was light, topped with spinach, cilantro, and pickled mustard greens. There were a few pieces of beef, mostly tender but i had a tough square of meat. overall beef noodles soup was a-ok, but the noodles were the best part. they have dumplings and other homemade goodies Ive yet to try. A hole in the wall place with locals.

After reading about JTYH and it’s knife cut noodles, we finally made it over here to try it out! JTYH is a no frills chinese restaurant so don’t expect a super clean place —beef noodle soup: definitely not one of the better beef noodle soups i’ve had! the noodles are nice and al dente but their odd shape makes it hard to place on a spoon —pan fried pork buns: i thought these would be more like dumplings but they are actually steamed buns that are pan fried, too much bread to meat ratio —beef rolls: i liked the crispy roll but the beef inside was just okay, needed more flavor so i doused it with the chili paste on the table NOTE: they speak limited english here but the menu has english so you can point & the lady is really nice

Great place for lunch and just some good authentic shang hai food. Its is like a hole in a wall on valley. You might miss it if you are not really looking for it. Its right next to Taco bell. The restaurant’s dinning area is not significantly big but they do take out. We got their special which is the pan fried bao. its like a xia long bao but a lot bigger and more carbs. We also got their beef stew noodle which had a lot of noodles. a lot a lot of noodles. the beef in the stew is super tender. Come here for lunch and #supportsmallbusinesses

Something was definitely missing in the popular moosho cat ear dish and no, it wasnt the rest of the cat. Dish was lacking some heat or flavoring. Service: standard grumpy asian lady status(aka rude by American standards). Ambiance: authentic, loud chinese being spoken. Id come back to try the knife cut noodles for the sake of convieniance, but id skip on the cat ears.

This is really one of my fave spots, i probably have been here the most out of any restaurant that I’ve been to! Ambiance: Casual, small, maybe fits a total of 25 people in the whole restaurant, usually not air conditioned but they do have blinds and fans. It’s not too hot. The employees are sweet and nice, they speak English well enough for me to communicate with them! They help you order, pick the right dishes, and get your food fast! Food: Go-to items Pork dumplings — these are so incredible, crispy on one side, soft and juicy in the middle — if you eat them right away, the juices inside might burn your tongue! They are my favorite fried dumplings out of anywhere but are comparable to 101 Noodle. Beef Noodle Soup — such comfort food, usually tendony/fatty meat which is good, you can pick knife shaved or hand pulled noodles. Knife shaved noodles give me some trouble eating them with chopsticks, but I’m also not a pro-chopstick user. Broth has vinegar, cilantro, ginger and is great! Beef Roll — this is HANDSDOWN my favorite beef roll I’ve had — for me the trick is the cucumbers and veggies they put inside that really balance out the fried outside. Of course, that means there is less beef than other places, but I really don’t mind. The crunch of the veggies is amazing. Mushu Cat Ears — They aren’t real cat ears, just little circular noodles, shaped like a thumbprint. They are flavored with soy sauce and have eggs with veggies on top. It’s really the ultimate comfort food and really hits the spot for me. It’s soft and warm and great. other things I’ve tried Lamb noodles — I had these handpulled and really loved them. Sometimes lamb things are too gamey for me, but this was really great. there isn’t a lot of lamb, there is cabbage and some other veggies — but really yummy, will get again. Chili oil wontons — these are in dessert menu which I don’t understand, but they are really yummy. They are boiled wonton dumplings in a bowl with chili oil. Not even deathly spicy! Fried buns — these are yummy, but kind of big to get in addition to all of my go-to things. The meat is good inside, but the bread part can get kind of dry. I eat mine with vinegar Seafood noodles — really yummy, would get these often. Warning — Dan Dan noodles are pretty spice — szechuan spice and leave your tongue all numb and funny All in all, a great place. If you try it, maybe I’ll see you there :)

A group of us came here for dinner because I’ve been reading positive reviews about their knife cut noodles. We decided to go family style because there was just so much food to try on the menu. 1. Mushu Cat Ears: You read the positive reviews and of course it’s going to be good! They fashion their noodles to be like cute little cat ears, so don’t worry — you’re not eating real cat ears lol! I love the Mushu, which is basically a mix of egg and veggies. It’s so delicious!(4⁄5) 2. Stew beef noodle: My bf really liked this one. You have the choice of your type of noodles, and we all ordered the knife cut noodles for each of our noodle dishes. Really delicious. Broth was great. Beef was tender(5⁄5) 2. Three flavor noodle: I was really looking forward to this one. I love the broth, it’s very light but also flavorful at the same time. It was a shame I wasn’t able to finish it all because I was so full from the other dishes. But this is a much more healthier but also tasty option for noodle soups(5⁄5) 3. Pan-fried pork dumplings: YUMMY! I love the crispy ends! The dumplings were juicy and straight-on good. That’s all I have to say(5⁄5) 4. Fried beef noodles with sacha sauce: My friend loves sacha sauce(the Taiwanese satay sauce you use for hot pot) and the noodles were very delicious with the flavorings. A good choice(5⁄5) 5. Spicy lamb ribs: If you love lamb, then definitely try this one. The only thing that we were disappointed was that there was too much bone and not that much meat, and they sprinkle the whole plate with red hot peppers making the plate much more voluminous than it actually was(4⁄5) Our party really enjoyed the food. However, the reason why I am giving this place 3 stars is because the workers there«hover» over you. We felt rushed trying to think of what to order, and we felt rushed while we were splitting the bill. Not only that, but our server thought that she deserved a 25% tip. In addition, she lost one of our $ 10 bills and claimed that we were short. There was a bit of a back and forth exchange with us and the worker and we were just frustrated because it was a miscalculation on their part. So we ended up overpaying by $ 10 because the worker thought we were a bunch of «high school teens» who were trying to get away with it. Do we really look that young? I’ll take it as a compliment. Just a tip — if you come with a big party, don’t expect them to split the check. And make sure you count all your bills when you pay cash. You never know with them. Even though the food was great, we didn’t appreciate the shady service. Not coming here again.

Truly unique noodles, styles, and flavors are found here! Great, friendly service is also found here. We got cold dishes, noodle soups, pan fried dumplings — huuuuge, dumplings, and the beef roll. All of it was delicious. We loved the mooshu«cat ears» the most because the consistency and mixture of ingredients were perfect. The lamb noodle soup was good too. The knife-cut noodles were also very good. I like the texture and the chewiness of it. It is a smaller shop, so there could be a wait, but ww got there at an odd time. They were still happy to take us amx were accomodating.

A restaurant long praised for some of the tastiest, freshest Chinese style noodles — whether of the Shanxi knife cut(dao xiao mian) or hand pulled(la mian) variety — in the San Gabriel Valley. I originally was drawn to this place because it was ranked #3 in LA Weekly’s 10 Best Handmade Noodles in 2012 and I happen to be in the area. Chef Shi Peng — long considered one of the best Shanxi dao xiao mian craftsmen around — has been honing his craft for nearly 30 years. It is a common sight to see him and his staff seated at the rear dining room table cutting a fresh dough of noodles with a knife or kneading and twirling the dough or rolling up a batch of dumplings in plain view. Their surprisingly extensive menu is compromised of lunch and dinner specials, soup noodles, dry noodles, fried rice and rice plates, soups, pancakes, fried dumplings, boiled dumplings, steamed dumplings and appetizers, desserts and drinks. Also on the menu are a good variety of take-out frozen dumplings that sell for a bag of 50. Prices range between $ 16-$ 20. The some of their best dishes include the Dan Dan Noodles(M $ 5.95, L $ 6.95), Stewed Beef Tendon and Beef Noodle Soup(M $ 6.25, L $ 7.25), Beef Rolls($ 7.95) and Steamed Pork Buns or Dumplings(10 pieces for $ 6.95). The beef noodle soup has pickled vegetables, cilantro and chunks of meat. The dandan noodles consists of a spicy sauce with preserved vegetables, baby bok choy, chili oil, Sichuan pepper, minced pork, with sesame paste, diced peanuts and peanut butter and scallions served over noodles. Beef rolls are made with tender beef shanks, Julienned cucumber, cilantro and Chinese sweet bean paste, which all gets rolled in a thin, crispy and flaky scallion pancake. The steamed pork buns or soup dumplings(xiao long bao) consists of balls of juicy pork, leeks or cabbage, meat aspic that is rolled inside thick dumpling wraps which has a circular cascade of ripples around the crown of the skin. The least palatable and most disappointing dish for me was the Three Flavor Noodle Soup(M $ 6.25, L $ 7.25). It is a Hong Kong dish consisting of finely chopped pork, shrimp, baby bok choy, sliced carrots, tomatoes, wood ears, mushrooms, and either your choice of dao xiao mian or la main noodles cooked in a very mild tasting stock which is either chicken or pork. JTYH, to their credit, uses the freshest ingredients and natural additives. They do not add any MSG. The noodle quality is superb and do not come any fresher than those prepared at this restaurant. The preparation of most dishes, it seems, are authentic and simply seasoned. They are too mild and delicately prepared for my palates and I felt lacked any depth in flavor. Clearly, the dry noodle dishes are a better choice. The sauces and broth are apparently not made to overpower the taste and chewy consistency of their prized noodles. While some dishes are too marginally flavored for me to recommend, it is still my belief that noodle-lovers in a quest to find the freshest, handmade Chinese noodles in Los Angeles would be remiss if they did not make a visit here. HOURS: M, W-SUN: 11AM-9:30PM TU: CLOSED NOTE: Minimum $ 20 charge to use debit or credit cards

I’ve been here several times, and I can say with confidence that this is a solid 4-star restaurant. Not quite deserving of 5 stars, but definitely no less than 4. Parking availability never seems to be a problem in the lot out front, even during peak lunchtime weekend hours. Some of their dishes are noticeably better than others. I rather like their Pork & Leek boiled dumplings(#414), which I saw them make by hand in front of me(at an adjacent table. It was a slow hour.). The skin is thick and palpably high quality, and the core was flavorful. No complaints there. I also sampled their Mooshu Fried Noodles(#308), which are available in either a «knife-shaved» or «hand-made» version. Having tried both variations, I prefer the«knife-shaved» version by a wide margin — it is sliced thick and wide, and of perfect chewiness. The thinner, round«hand-made» noodles are not bad either, it just didn’t impress me nearly as much. The remainder of the dish is quite good as well. The scrambled eggs taste notably fresh and skillfully-cooked(it seems like they use *just* the right amount of salt, no more, no less). On the whole, the dish is light in flavor, but still pleasantly appetizing just the same. I’d be open to ordering it again. On a far less positive note, I made the mistake of sampling their«Orange Chicken»(#618). It was not orange chicken like any other kind I’ve ever had, I’d say it was much closer to sweet & sour chicken. It wasn’t «bad», but I would definitely not order it again. To be fair, considering the specific subgenre of Chinese cuisine served by this restaurant, orange chicken is understandably not going one of their core competencies. Their seaweed(#105) is terrible, and I urge everyone to avoid it at all costs. Their milk tea is decent, and they are currently offering a BOGO promo on it. In general, the menu pricing is quite affordable, and most dishes here seem to represent a great value. The service here is not too bad. Don’t expect too much emotional labor or initiative here, but at least you also won’t get any attitude … or a prematurely delivered check, for that matter. All things considered, this place has earned my respect as a solid, affordable restaurant, and I plan to keep returning here. Their fried pork dumplings are next to try on my list. Mmmmm …

I’ve so far been to this restaurant two times and both times, the service is horrible. The place itself isn’t even that big, it’s actually quite small, yet the two ladies that work here just never pay attention. Parking here is not a problem, it’s located right next to a liquor store and no one really goes in there. Their food takes a long time to come out! I feel like the only have one chef or something. They also don’t come out all together. A table that came after us would get their food first and then we would get a dish and then they would get a dish. The dishes just kept coming out one by one and it was so annoying since our table came first. We always get the cat ear noodles which I must admit is pretty yummy. It’s chewy(very similar to rice cake), flavorful and has a lot of egg on top of it mixed in with some woodear mushrooms and a type of green(idk what kind of green it is). You must get this if you come here. Mung bean jelly is pretty good. It reminds me of the Korean side dish that Korean BBQ places give you as an appetizer. I love the texture of mung bean jelly and they just put some hot chili oil on top of it for flavoring. Make sure you eat it with the sauce though and mix it up. That’s the only way it’s going to taste good.

Pros: — I’ve been coming here for at least 6 years now, and even before when they were in Monterey Park, it’s small but can seat an adequate amount of people — I’m a huge knife cut noodle fan, probably my favorite food in the universe, and this place specializes in just that! With any kind of meat or veggie(depending on your preference). I love that the food is authentic-tasting here — It’s very affordable since it’s in Rosemead, which is right by SGV, which is the land of heavenly Chinese eats for good prices — There’s a lady who’s been working there as long as I’ve been going and she’s always the nicest and sometimes will give me free veggie appetizers — Parking has never been an issue, yay for private lots and free parking! Cons: — None!

Knife cut noodles, pan fried buns, Northern Chinese food for the soul! What are knife cut noodles? Aren’t all noodles cut by a knife? Yes. But not all noodles have a chef holding a noodle brick over a pot and literally shaving pieces off the block and directly into boiling broth. Ever peeled potatoes? Do that motion but with a regular knife and you’ll get the idea. Beef Noodle Soup w/Knife Cut Noodles — Must get. A steaming hot refreshing broth with square beef pieces, spinach, cilantro and knife cut noodles. The noodles are medium length, vary in thickness(not too thick), so chewy and so good. There aren’t too many places in Southern California that do knife cut noodles. I first had this dish at a Islamic restaurant in Shanghai. That bowl of noodles cost $ 1.25. For only a few dollars more you can save yourself the 14 hour flight and pick up a bowl of it here. Pan Fried Buns — Must get. JTYH’s version of Shen Jian Bao are huge. 33% larger than your standard SJB without hurting the integrity of the bun. A big juicy meatball that doesn’t soak through the skin. Bun skin not puffed up with excess dough, just the right proportion. Cat Ears(Mao Er Duo) — Meow. This was my first time having or hearing about this in China or America. If you are a Chinese noodle freak, then you sort of have to order this based on the chance you’ll never see this dish anywhere else. Knife cut noodles shaved into little pieces that roll up a smidge when pan fried with cabbage to create a cat ear look. Topped with a Chinese omelette of wood ear, scallions and shredded pork that surprisingly super tasty. Free cold dish with Unilocal Check-in. They choose the side dish for you(possibilities include… cucumber, shredded bean curd salad, kelp, pig ears, cold beef, etc.). Most likely you will receive one of the veggie ones. Stick with these solid mains and you can’t go wrong. Prices are very reasonable.
