I went here with my family and got seated immediately which was nice. We got all nice and cozy in our seats until they asked us to move to a 4 seat location to make room for a bigger party. The new seats by the window were really dirty. My seat was wet and the windows were extremely dirty which made me want to sit as far away as possible. My dad ordered the phở which was okay. The broth wasn’t very flavorful and their wasn’t that much meat inside. I ordered the com suong nuong which was very bland. I felt like the rice was too mushy and not flavorful, and the meat had no flavor and it just felt like I was chewing on nothing. My mom and sister shared the com thit bi cha which was also lacking in flavor. If we ordered the soup like everyone else reviewed, it may have been better but stay away from the rice for sure. The rice is just the wrong texture and the meat has no flavor. On the plus side, it totaled up 22 dollars for 4 people and the iced tea was good. One star for the tea!

Family combo for 2 people for only $ 20! Our total bill with tax and tip was only $ 23. This is freaking amazing. I don’t know why I don’t come here more often. My boyfriend and I were very satisfied with our meal. The family combo for 2 people comes with your choice of: 1. Shrimp or fish sour soup. I went with the shrimp. This is so good that it makes your mouth water upon the first sip. You may drink it by itself or have it with rice. 2. Pork or fish clay pot. You must get the fish clay pot! They give you a whole bucket of rice just so you can eat it with the clay pot sauce! It is SO bomb. 3. Chicken or jelly fish salad. Both are really good. I went with the jelly fish salad because it comes with thinly shredded cucumbers. They also provide a little dish of pickled veggies for appetizer, and Vietnamese dessert after your meal! This place is bomb and is a bang for your buck. $ 20 and it comes with dessert. Whaat?! I mean, I spend $ 10 on chicken nuggets alone at Mcdonalds and I’m sure there’s no nutrients in those either. The wait here was a bit long on the weekend for dinner, but it goes by quick. This is not a classy place, more of a hole in the wall. The tables are a little gross since it’s a little sticky, just don’t touch it. I went through the whole dinner without my hands ever touching the surface of the table. But really? If they’re a business that’s still up and running, who cares, as long as the food is delicious. I saw other ethnicities here too, they know what’s up.

Family and I are regulars here, have been here several times. We usually come here for their sweet and sour soup with fish. The food and service here is just mediocre its honestly nothing special, but after what happened the last time I am done with this place. My family and I came and the place was packed so we waited for a table signing the wait list for a table of 7. The party after us signed in for a party of 11. We waited 20 minutes, when a table finally opened up. After that we waited for them to clean it before walking towards the table since we were next on the wait list of 2 parties, but the waitress stopped us to say that its for the party of 11. We questioned them and said that we were next on the list and arrived before them. Without giving an explanation, they just said no its for the other party. After that my family and I were upset, why would we stay and have to wait for another table, when rightfully that table should have been for us. So we just left and went to another restaurant. Very disappointed in at how they treat their customers.

My family grew up eating this stinky fish noodle soup, which my mom would spend all day cooking but luckily this place serves it! My cousins were in town from Sydney and wanted some of this stinky yummy soup, so after a day at Americana, we decided to come here. It was early, maybe 5:30 and our car got there first. We asked for a table for 14 and they said they would hold the table for 5 minutes. It was half empty but we agreed. Within the next 10 minutes, the place got packed! Luckily the rest of our peeps showed up so we didn’t lose the tables. I’ve had take out from this place a couple of times before but its always better fresh. I got my Bun Ngoc Leo soup, and the other family members who didn’t grow up eating this got Phở and some other stuff. Everyone was happy! We ordered some egg rolls as well as spring rolls and a few other dishes. Every thing was delicious and for our group, the total was $ 100. Not too shabby. Keep in mind though that it is cash only!

I think they’re pretty average. My family usually shares this hot pot sort of dish. I’m not really a fan. I usually just get the broken rice. Its ok.

Dirty resturant with sticky tables and like Unilocalers say, they clean their tables with a spray bottle of strong chemical and sometimes they’d spray it your way lol! Unfortunately, I felt it before, so I know! I’d say this place has gotten worst when they changed«My Dung» to «Tan Khai Hoan». I can’t even comment about customer service because it doesn’t exist here. They take your order with a straight face, they serve you with a straight face. When you are ready to pay, you walk yourself to the front to pay because they have better things to do like sit around and watch TV rather then bring you the bill and get a better tip. I am not even kidding you, I asked for the bill and the waiter pointed to the cash register with a straight face. This Vietnamese resturant closes later than others, and that is why I come. It’s the only one still open after 9pm around the area. I dont know how clean my phở is, but its not bad lol. But my boyfriend hates this place, he thinks everything tastes gross in this resturant. It looks like we’ll need to drive just a little further for some phở after 9pm.

After a long vacation eating only buffet we needed something light and airy. This is definitely the place. We order the 50 dallors combo which feed 8 people but only 3 people ate. It comes with 2 kind of hot pot soup, a coleslaw salad, fried veggies, fried fish, shrimp, shrimp and beef salad, bbq pork and bbq fish. This place is known for there combo so make sure you try it. The food was pretty tasty. Service was quick.

This placed use to called«My Dung» and my grandparent would take my brother and I come here every weekend. Since they had the name changed… Everything is suck, from customer service to foods. The soup has no taste and so plain(not even the smell of beef soup). Plus, they is so cheap with their vegetable. We asked for more lime they even complain about it…

We’re from San Francisco and we always stop by here to eat. Their food is consistently good and their portions are generous. If they have one in SF, I’d go there weekly!

Came here with my family and boyf. We had the bun, phở, glass noodles, beef stew with rice, and some other type of soup noodle. I only got to try the bun, beef stew, and phở but all were average or below average. The pros for the bun is that the meat is thick, and they actually grill the meat! Unlike other places(phở filet 2) where they just pan fry it.): The phở was below average as the noodles were cooked way too long and were way too soft! My beef stew with rice was really oily, and all the pieces of meat that were on there were either really terrible quality of tendon or fat — and really little meat): Overall, it’s an average Vietnamese restaurant that doesn’t quite specialize in anything. or maybe we just didn’t know how to order.

Nostalgia hitting me hard! My dad used to take me here when it was called«my dung»! Far from tasting like dung, this is as close as I can get for homemade viet food, which is sad… It’s really good and for twenty bucks you get jelly fish salad and clay pot cat fish with a side of pickled cabbage. The sauce is killer. I would pour that shit over rice and the picked cabbage all the time as a kid. The cat fish soup is tangy and warms the soul. The fish is well cooked while the veggies are a nice supplement. Free soup dessert too. What a pleasant surprise! This place makes me happy, I’m a bit bias on this one. Ok maybe four stars only cause the ambiance could be a little outdated.

The charbroiled beef and shrimp paste vermicelli(bún chao tom bo nuong) was really good. Made old-school style. Beef wasn’t covered or «dye» in red or dark sauce that mass the natural flavor of the meat. The shrimp paste was very shrimpy and bouncy. Just the right texture. It was a nice change for them to also finely chop the mixed greens. As for the phở, it’s definitely a hit or miss. Kudos to the hot broth but the problem is the meat to noodle ratio. Sometimes too little meat, too much meat and then just enough meat. So now I usually stick with the bún whenever I come here.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, way before their name changed from My Dung to Tan Khai Hoan. The food has always been delicious, inexpensive & well portioned. I like this place for their phở & family meals. One thing I will mention is their customer service. It sucks. There’s one middle aged guy & the lady with a hoarse voice. Those two are the only nice ones there. The new staff is shitty, rude & unpleasant. They don’t greet you, acknowledge you or even thank you. The old staff was nicer. But hey, if you’re not one to rate customer service then this place is for you.

i don’t give 5 stars, this is really more 3.5 stars. i regret allowing a month to go by before getting to this review, because i’m just getting into vietnamese cuisine and the names of dishes don’t flow trippingly off the tongue yet. we’d had lunch at tai siu up the street on san gabriel the week before, and it was good, but our lunch party liked this place more through no fault of tai siu. we particularly enjoyed the catfish.

Details. . Sunday night diner for 4. . We ordered the family meal for 4& added an additional dish of clams. prOs. . The food came out really quickly. . The service wasn’t bad. . The prices — about $ 50ish for 4 people & we had leftovers! cOns. . Since the food came out so quickly, we ran out of room on the table for all of the dishes. I would’ve been nice if they paced it better. . The hot & sour soup was a bit stingy on the catfish & pineapples. . Cash only.

I love this restaurant because t’s inexpensive and delicious! PROS: The food is SUPERYUMMY. I like to order the $ 18 dollar family combo because it can comfortably feed a family of 3 – 4. It comes with a sour vegetable soup, steamed fish, chicken/shrimp salad, and pickled vegetables. Service was very nice even though I didn’t speak the language and it’s usually not busy, so a wait time almost never exists. The restaurant has its own parking-lot so I don’t have to worry about finding a spot. CONS: Because I didn’t speak the language, the waiters had to constantly switch for me because they needed someone who spoke English. I didn’t mind too much though. ~~~~~TIP: This is an extremely casual restaurant~~~~~~

Cons: — sticky tables and this was not the first time — cleaning the restaurant with strong chemicals as customers were still eating — no filter water/ice(which forced me to order a Sunkist) Pros: + fast and efficient service + reasonable prices + yummy food but a little salty Ordered dinner for two: — pickled mustard greens(delicious with the sauce from the fish in the clay pot) –broken rice instead of the regular rice today because they ran out –jelly fish sour salad: was meh. Dressing was fish sauce and it didn’t hit the spot. –fish in clay pot: delicious and was my favorite, however, it was salty! –sweet and sour soup with catfish and variety of vegetables: was yummy. I usually scoop out the fish and let it sit in the fish sauce before I eat it. –also ordered Bo luc lac(beef dish): was ok. Too little of the beef on the plate. There were more lettuce and tomatoes than beef. I usually park on the street just to prevent driving around looking for a space in their parking lot. But they do have a parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Cash only! If you’re on a low sodium diet(1500 – 2000 mg), this place might not be an ideal place to have a meal!

AHA! This place use to be called«My Dung»(Viet translation… My(beauty)…Dung(face). I guess Tan Khai Hoan is a better name for it now! Service/Ambiance: I thought the service was great. The waiter was very attentive and very friendly! Not so much with the ambiance… Could have been 4 stars if these vietnamese«Gangsters» behind me stopped using the F word in every single sentence! Don’t get me wrong, i’m cool with them, just don’t want to get shot! Food: When I go here, I usually ordered the same thing. Just makes me sooo content! I usually get the dinner for two meal that mainly comes with: 1) The sweet and sour fish soup(perfect combination of sweet and sour and you get about three or four pieces of the fish and a lot of veggies!) 2) fish in a clay pot(I go crazy on the sauce… It’s on the salty side but it’s soo good with rice! Lovely tradition dishes… Go get some! :)

My family and I have been coming here for years. It’s our go to Vietnamese restaurant, even back when it was called something else. I always order phở and spring rolls. Their spring rolls are well wrapped. The phở is also very good. I enjoy the broth here and I like that their portions are large and filling but not ridiculously huge. Service is fast, but the décor is busy and a little much. This place is always my first stop when I get off the plane from LAX.

Came here randomly on a Saturday when the other restaurants were too packed. This place was nice and free. Ordered the banh hoi with meatballs and egg rolls. Must say, Vietnamese dishes are full of vegetables… Cucumbers, lettuce, mint leaves, and pickled vegetables. On the other plate were meatballs(more like sausages), egg rolls, and sticky rice noodles. I made some delicious lettuce wraps with the available ingredients and they were dipped in fish sauce. It was the typical Vietnamese flavors, just how I like it.
