Pâté Meatball banh mi — 1⁄5 It taste nothing but tomato paste flavor. Taste horrible! Worst banh mi I have had. Bbq pork bank mi — 3⁄5 I do not recommend this place. Their bread texture tastes like rubber. The flavor is below par compared to most Vietnamese sandwiches place.

Like their Super Juice $ 4.75& Coconut Jelly $ 2.75, but this place(outside) reeks of cigarette smell due to lots of Vietnamese men smoking all the time playing scratchers/lottery, reading newspaper, playing cards & drinking iced coffee. Their iced coffee(forgot how much) is alright/so-so. Would much prefer Lee’s Sandwiches iced coffee anytime. Banh mi can be tasty if it’s fresh. Usually go with chicken or pork.

IMO… the baguettes here are better than the other banh mi places that I tried. Their baguettes are crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. From now on this is my go-top spot for banh mi and baguettes. I don’t understand the low rating but I’m a fan.

It was funny with the experience I have today with this store. I parked the car at the parking lot today, with their own painting on the curb ‘tip top parking’. Once I walked out from my car, some employee from the store walked out and said«you cannot park here». I was like I didn’t even walked away from my car yet and how did they know I was not gonna buy anything from them? If they didn’t want me to park there, OK fine, I won’t park there, in fact, I won’t even buy anything from them. What customer service that is.

Came here with my mom on a whim, wasn’t really hungry so we ordered the xe lua Phở and chicken phở, service was nice and friendly, the restaurant itself was average, décor was homely and clean. The phở was bland in taste and portions were small for a large phở, over all the experience was a 4 but marked it down a star for the dirty cup that was served. Not sure if id repeat again but this place definitely deserves a try

First time here have to seat yourselves, service was slow even when there’s barely any customers. Table aren’t wipe down properly. I feel dirty eating here but like any restaurant I would love to give them a chance. Food was decent but needs more improvement. Service is a must!

Not too sure why LA magazine rated this as #1 for Banh Min sandwiches. I have had a lot of these from various places all over Southern CA. Would say that the portions and stuffings are generous but sometimes less is more. Too overpowering for my palette. The sandwich was a bit sour and over spiced with a little too much salt. Good but I would not say great. Perhaps I am not used to the heavy sardine /garlic paste spread in the #1 mixed Banh Min Sandwich. Too much sauce /spread that overpower’s the rest. Perhaps the pork is way too fatty also. French bread is awesome and a deal at 2 loaves for $ 2. Has all the classic Vietamese dishes and sides and phở which are standard. Lots of older Vietamese gentleman hanging out drinking various colorful drinks and shooting the breeze outside. So for authentic ambiance and size the place gets a 4 overall.

This was a Meh experience for me. It’s relatively cheap, buy two, get one free(but only in the small size, and I didn’t see any sizes anywhere on the sign). I figured it would be the same, buy two large, get one free. I don’t see why they are so «thrifty» with their overpriced sandwiches. I say over-priced, because I don’t think they are very good. The small sandwich, is definitely small, and skimpy in what goes in the baguette. They have pre-packaged spring rolls there which are handy. I really wish I could have had a better experience. I’m looking for a good Vietnamese Sandwich place, so I’ll keep trying…

This place is moderately under average in my opinion. Outside the place there are a bunch of old Vietnamese guys smoking, drinking iced coffees and playing scratchers. As they stare at you before you walk in, the smoke from their cigarettes tickles your throat. The cashiers barely speak English. I ordered a phở and pronounced it perfectly and she still didn’t understand me. They don’t serve phở at the sandwich shop btw. But they do at the next counter. The sandwiches are decent. They have good chewy pork slices. But everything else is sub par. I would suggest going to Bahn mo Che Cali.

So I’m looking for a place to eat and see this place from the street. It looks packed, so I park and go in. To my surprise the restaurant is empty. The crowd is only outside on the patio area. It appears that it’s all men playing some type of checkers game. There’s a big handwritten sign taped to the window that says, «No gambling on the patio.» I was like, «oh so that’s why this place is so popular. As for the sandwich I ordered(pastrami, roast beef, and cheese), it was just okay. Oh, I asked for a cup of water and they said we only have bottled water. Also, CASHONLY.

Had the Dac Biet sandwich and it was the worst sandwich I had ever had. Lol. The meat was salty and the pork didn’t taste like pork. The pickled veggies in the sandwich were stale and didn’t have a pickled taste either. I really wanted to like the place because it’s close to my house and they have a lot of BOGO deals. They have a nice large patio out front. I went on a weekday about 5pm, and there were a lot of men all age 40 plus who just order tea or coffee and sit there to chat and SMOKE. Yup, smoking. Didn’t seem like it was regulated at all by the restaurant. One table of men were playing cards(most likely betting or gambling was involved). Looks like I was at the wrong place at the wrong time… Or this was the usual crowd. Regardless, I wouldn’t go back there again.

The decent chicken phở was worth an adventure of several travelling across this region of Southern California. The breads are okay, the phở is okay, the overall restaurant is okay. In short, it’s a hole-in-a-wall short of restaurant. But I love it. Firstly, the phở was interesting, albeit okay in taste. It’s a Chicken phở with thick noodles. The interior is full of wrapped spring rolls and deserts in the refrigerator. Never tried the deserts there, and it seems neglected. The baguettes are buy one get one free and it appears too dependent on the packaged meals on the counter. Overall, this restaurant is decent and I know for sure this isn’t my last time eating from there.

30% off chicken phở. Their chicken phở here is decent, comes in small and large size. I love how the noodles are wider than your usual phở noodles. Broth is decent. The chicken had more bones than meat. Ask for the ginger sauce to dip your chicken in! Similar to the dipping sauce in hainan chicken.

–The phở is pretty solid(chicken) –ask for the garlic/fish sauce to dip the chicken in! –there always seems to be flies INSIDE the restaurant every time I come here. It really kills my appetite –just FYI there a lot of people smoking outside in the patio and they always leave the doors open so theres a lot of secondhand

Tip Top is like a Vietnamese food swap meet; every 14″ is another food vendor all under the same roof. But here it’s all Tip Top. A lot of Vietnamese places have spring rolls on the counter. At Tip Top, they don’t stop with just spring rolls — the cuisine of every region in Vietnam(China too?) is represented on the countertop. Well, at least the regions that make food suitable for wrapping in plastic on little while Styrofoam plates. So colorful in all its pageantry and splendor… like the Olympics Opening Ceremony. We decided to have cooked lunch, instead of wrapped. I asked for the biggest, meatiest soup they have, and it was very good. But you know how it is when the ingredients are just together but not married? It was like that. We thought about dessert, because they go to some trouble to have a few things under refrigeration in the glass counter. While we were there, no one touched it, and it seems a bit neglected. Pass. We had a nice time here, and will return to sample the Banh Mi and baguettes.

Weird sort of atmosphere but I’m told that many coffee places in Vietnam are like this — the entire restaurant outdoor seating area is usually pretty full with older men either smoking and chatting or playing chess. All day. Every day. Anyway to talk about the food, I’ve tried their sandwiches which were pretty good, their coffee is not bad at all, but what I love getting here(oddly enough) is the yogurt! It’s very tart and runny but so addicting. Not sure if it’s just me but try it sometime! People also like the coconut jelly dessert too.

Great fresh baguettes-buy 1 get one free. of all the vietnamese sandwich shops that sell baguettes, this place got it down. I would drive all the way here only for bread. their other food items are so-so. prepackaged are not the best, but they have the best veggie banh mi Ive had compared to other places. well marinated tofu and gluten on a soft crispy baguette with pickled carrots and daikons. in conclusion, I only come here for baguettes and specifically, their veggie banh mi.

I do not agree with the 3 start Unilocal average on this one. I think its a solid 4. This place has many things to offer but the primary focus is on sandwiches, croissants, and the juice bar. All kinds of sandwiches and juices. I decided to get the BBQ Chicken Sandwich $ 3.45 and Super Juice $ 4.75. The sandwich was good size, the baguette was fresh, solid amount of chicken, and good mix of ingredients. The juice hit the spot and with a mix of like 6 fruits and vegetables, I got my vitamins for the day. CASHONLY of course.

Fairly spacious sandwich shop. They have a phở section as well where they have some sort of deal during certain hours for like $ 5 bowl of phở. The sandwiches were so so.

their combo banh mi is pretty good. the sandwiches can be on the pricey side. If you decide to get extra pâté and an egg(which is a must) it will cost you over $ 5 for one sandwich which is usually the price for two banh mis. they have BOGO milk tea. which is pretty good and the big size.
