Healy Field is not a playground. It has 2 baseball diamonds, one of which is fenced, a basketball court and 2 football fields(which are painted on Sunday mornings during the women’s flag football season. Then, obviously, the BWFFL teams play their games, which end around 3:30). Ok, there is a small playground which is just next to the building with the indoor pool, but it’s not the main attraction. It is on Washington Street, but is set down from the street, literally, so cars aren’t right on top of your football game. I’ve never checked out the pool, but it doesn’t seem to be teeming with children all of the time, so it’s probably worth a look. The field is usually occupied on weekends during the spring and summer, with women’s football teams(don’t mess with them!) or youth baseball teams(them either!). But during the evenings, and in the winter, the fields are a great spot to play catch with your dog. Or friends if you have em. But if you’re bringing your pup here, the only fenced spot is the baseball field, which does have a no dogs sign. But honestly, why the heck not in the winter. That’s just wasteful. The community doesn’t really respect that sign, and no one tries to enforce the victimless crime of playing catch, for what it’s worth.
