Ordered take out last night. The food was flavorful, and the staff was friendly and courteous. We ordered the Samosa Chaat, Saag Paneer, Shrimp Korma, Shrimp Tikka Masala, and Garlic Naan. All the dishes were tasty and I look forward to trying more in the future. A good option for Indian food in West Roxbury and Roslindale.

Living in West Roxbury — Shanti is our go-to for delivery. The vindaloo is hot and full of flavor. The lamb korma is creamy and fantastic. Delivery is usually pretty quick and the food is always still hot when it arrives. I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve eaten Shanti, we never get tired of it.

Above average Indian food in a pleasant space near many of the other popular restaurants in roslindale. Service was excellent. The naan was the best I have had in a long time; light, fluffy, flavorful. Some good innovative dishes besides the standards, all nicely executed. Room was well appointed including sound dampening; something even higher end restaurants fail to do. Would give this spot a try if you like Indian.

The food is great, the delivery happened ahead of schedule, and when I messed up my ordering(and it was totally my fault), they worked with me to get it right even after it was delivered.

I went to Shanti for dinner with my wife and two friends and we really enjoyed it. Service was fine, price was fine and food was very good. I love spicy food, however I have to warn you: the most spicy dishes at Shanti were almost too spicy for me! That doesn’t mean they were not very tasty though. We live pretty close to this place, so we’ll go back. I know they have some type of buffet for lunch, so we may try that one of these days.

Went to the pre-frix 4 course wine dinner — all Indian wines who knew such a thing even existed? The food was fantastic, not nearly as heavy as traditional Indian cuisine — we will be back and the rice pudding cake was the first time I have truly enjoyed an Indian dessert — $ 40 a person for 4 courses including wine was a real treat!

After multiple tries at different local Indian spots, I’ve found the shanty. And it was glorious! The chicken tikka masala was the jump off and when my bf and I ordered different spice levels, it came out perfect. The samosas = yes. Just do it.

Shanti has the best bang-for-your-buck lunch in Roslindale! The buffet might seem risky for those who distrust foreign all you can eats, but Shanti is high-quality and low-cost. While some may be put off by the somewhat underwhelming traffic that comes through Shanti, disregard that and think of yourself as a pioneer. This place should be packed every day and night; it is the best!

We had amazing indian food here when we were in Boston. Probably one of the best spots for dining in Dorchester.

Delicious, delicious!!! Took my good friend here(first time she has ever tried Indian). She was hesitant but as soon our food came out, a loyal customer was born lol. Naan was so fresh, shaag was like heaven. We didn’t finish our food, not bcus it was huge portions(naan was big) but cus it was so filling. 4 stars bcus the waiter didn’t really know anything about the food and couldn’t really help us. But I do plan on returning, this time with my boyfriend who has also never tried Indian food

yaaaaaas. everyone comes here for the lunch buffet(EVERYDAY?! WHAT A STEAL) but honestly, sometimes the indian food craving kicks in and you need to satisfy it. and boy does shanti satisfy. i’m not usually the type of person to order the same thing twice on a menu, especially when there are so many vegetarian options, but i keep coming back to the nabaraton korma. it is just too good — it’s got the perfect ratio of creamy curry to vegetables. put it on their garlic naan, and you’ll be in heaven. make sure you warn your partner, though — the minced garlic on the top will really test their love for you and your breath ;) the only downfall with shanti is their saag paneer(spinach with cheese). it’s kind of bland-tasting, which is unfortunate, because spinach soaks up spices really well. that’s okay! i’m still coming back, because there really isn’t anything that can top shanti out in the outskirts of boston. oh: they have a credit card system now where they come to your table and they swipe your card on a tablet. it’s kind of awkward when they hover while you decide on how much you want to tip, but you definitely save time this way!

I’m afraid this is going to sound like they’re paying me, but I assure you, I’m the one paying them, happily, $ 9.95 a day(OK, plus tax/tip — even on weekends!) for the best Indian buffet I’ve ever had. Indian buffet is my favorite option for going out to lunch, and I’ve been to more than half a dozen Indian restaurants in the Boston area(Bukhara, Kashmir, India Pavilion, Tanjore, Mela, the old Bombay Café, and beyond that I forget). But in just two weeks since having moved to Roslindale, I’ve temporarily abandoned cooking and gone to Shanti’s buffet approximately 10 times, and my appreciation of quality in Indian cuisine has gone up dramatically. The past two weeks have been such a blur of culinary ecstasy that I might forget or err in a detail or two. But, essentially, every dish I have had there has seemed to me(as someone who has only eaten Indian food in Ohio and Massachusetts) to capture what I think must be the essence of the dish in flavor, texture, and intensity. Some of them I had never appreciated anywhere else previously. For example, I didn’t think I liked tandoori chicken. I thought«dry and bland» was just the standard result of the tandoori process. I had no idea it was supposed to be tender, moist and emanating flavor as it does at Shanti. I also had no idea how perfectly sweet and spicy the onion, mint, and tamarind chutneys could be, and how much I would love them on my pakoras. And goat curry — I thought that the meager meat one could locate amongst goat bones in this dish was destined to be tough and chewy, but at Shanti it’s almost all meat and meltingly tender. The masala chai is creamy and nutty and not a hint of bitterness. The naan is toasty and fluffier than I’ve had anywhere else. The poori is a bit oily, but such a treat! The gulab jamun is accented with clove, which is amazing and a first for me. And the kheer is simple, sweet without tasting sugary, and with some kind of crunchy mild addition — radish maybe? And we haven’t even gotten to most of the entrees yet… The popular chicken tikka masala is present most days, and it’s the deep red-orange, tomato-heavy version that you wouldn’t confuse for a more buttery chicken makhani(as most places seem to), and it uses the same incredible tandoori chicken that I mentioned earlier. There is usually also a saag or palak dish(such as chana saag or palak panir), which are my personal favorites. I’m still not certain what the difference is, but as far as I can tell, palak seems creamier, whereas Shanti’s saag preserves the vegetable quality of the spinach more than I am used to, and they’re both sooo good. The dal makhani is really pleasant with a thick, earthy, comforting character. Other dishes I haven’t always seen on other buffets but which have overwhelmingly stood out are the vegetable jalfrezi(amazingly flavorful, and spicier than most other dishes), bindi masala(the okra is slightly crunchy and not at all slimy), aloo began(also a bit oily, but decadently so), nabaraton korma(creamy nutty perfection), and shahi panir(buttery and wonderful). Besides the unbelievable food, it’s a lovely space, the staff have always been very attentive, and I personally happen to like the Indian pop music they usually play. The only thing is, it’s too quiet. I’m writing this review because, while it’s great to have this wonderful buffet to myself or to share with a handful of other patrons, more people need to find it. Both to ensure that Shanti stays in business for a very long time, and because more people deserve to know just how good Indian food can be.

We normally order for take-out. It is quick. Never dine in so I’m not sure about the service. Love the chicken vindaloo and masala! It is so good with their garlic Naan. Not a fan of their chicken rice pilaf.

Fridays are my favorite, because I trek out to Roslindale for a full day to get my learnin’ on via direct patient care. It also happens to be a skip or two away from Shanti. Seriously, I could throw a rock from my exam room and hit Shanti’s door. My friend and I always look forward to lunch, where we head over to Shanti and say, «Takeout, please!» We’re each presented with one large styrofoam container to fill to our heart’s content at the buffet. And fill it, we do. Beef curry, chicken tikka masala, lentils and beans, veggie curry, eggplant and potato, samosas, vegetable pakora, fresh salad greens, tandoori chicken. There’s something for everyone! I love that the labels tell you exactly what’s in each option, as I have some food intolerances I always need to be wary of. Oh, and my favorite? GOATCURRY! The meat is so tender and soft, it just falls apart in your mouth. I love it so much and I hope they continue to have it in the upcoming weeks. The curries are flavorful, unmuted, and complex. I only wish they had some spicy options! The textures have been spot-on. Soft eggplant, moist chicken, crunchy fresh vegetables, and firm but not undercooked potatoes. You won’t find any sacrifice in quality at this place. Their buffet selection rotates, so I’m never stuck with the exact same meal every time. Wonderful! Upon checking out, the hostess helps us put our containers into a plastic bag that includes napkins and disposable utensils. They bring out the gigantic, PIPING-HOT naan last. It’s literally so hot, you have to wait for it to cool down before you can even touch it. Yes, they have dessert, too! Thank you, Shanti! May your business prosper and reap the wealth and prosperity and all the karma and all that jazz.

In Boston, at least, this is as good as it gets. The staff has always been attentive and friendly. They’re not pushy or in a rush to get you out of the place. I’ve only been here for the buffet but the choices are varied and delicious. It’s also spicy, which seems rare as so many Americans want Indian food without the kick. You want the kick, people. Trust me. You’re not eating real Indian food until your nose is running and you’re sweating curry later in the day. I’ve been to buffets that have more variety and aren’t as expensive(outside of Boston), but I’ve never been disappointed with my experiences at this Shanti or their other location in Dorchester.

I was up here for work and was craving Indian food– so I happened upon this place. I managed to score parking right out front… I ordered take out. The food was great– I’ve had better Curry in my life… the«Shanti Mixed Grill» was wonderful! My only gripe is that I asked for utensils and a plate(I’m eating in the car/I’m not from around here-I even told them that) and they didn’t give me any or any condiments. I’m a little disappointed… the price was a little high as well. Oh well. The atmosphere was nice, it was quiet with a good crowd eating off what appeared to be a lunch buffet which looked good. I’ll go again but I’ll try something different and make sure I get my utensils and condiments next time!

Wow! Very seldom do I experience excellent customer service. Very seldom. So, excellent service makes itself extremely noticeable to me. As was the case here. I eat vegan only. The staff made certain that I knew which food on the buffet was vegan, AND because there was only one vegan dish(in addition to the salad), I was charged only ½ price– without asking! My guess is they will go far in the restaurant business. When you concentrate on customer happiness, it’s simply a by-product. IMHO. And my vegan food and salad was tasty, too! I’ll come back!

I’ve been a fan of Shanti since I lived near their Dot Ave location. Me and my husband went there frequently(at least once per week), and I have always loved the atmosphere and the great staff. Today I put in a lunch order with the Roslindale location, which I live near now. I accidentally selected pick-up and got a call from them wondering when I was going to pick up my food. I work from home and am basically chained to my desk during those hours, and I had intended to do delivery. The woman on the phone said she’d speak to her manager and called me back five minutes later to tell me someone was on their way. The delivery guy got there less than ten minutes later, and cheerfully handed off my still-piping-hot food. Shanti MADE my day. I always enjoy the food. The naan and breads are delicious, as is every entrée I’ve tried. I haven’t been to the buffet yet, but I will definitely go someday. I’m no expert on Indian food, and sometimes the food isn’t spicy enough for my liking, but that’s probably my lack of clarity on exactly how spicy I want it to be. I love Shanti. Tasty, fast, fresh, and amazing service.
