The steak was cooked perfect and our server Jake was very professional and knowledgeable. We will be going back again and requesting our favorite server :)

Dinner in Roswell. Local recommended. Also highly rated on Unilocal.Regional chain. Upscale casual. We shared the crab cakes appetizer. My bride got the swordfish special with a baked sweet potato. I got the 12oz prime rib. Salad bar included. Awesome salad bar. You could make a meal out of the salad bar. In addition to salads. Meat and fish were nice cuts, very tasty. Ample portions. Very gracious and accommodating wait staff. Not cheap, but good value for the dollar. A very enjoyable experience. I’d try other locations based on the meal we had here.

Terrible service. Ended up having to get up from my table to order a drink from the bar because the server never came. Finally received our drinks and they were terrible, one had absolutely no liquor and the other was made wrong. The waiter only came by twice in one hour. Had to finally flag him down to get our bill. Food was mediocre.

For me to give 5 stars you know I was impressed.
Let start with the host he was clean and looked me in the eyes his attire was very well kept and the place looked clean and yes the restroom was clean to. Now to my waiter was a older man but he did his job. Management should have there staff with better fitting shirts. Back to the meal I have a stuff chicken with cream cheese and spinach it was crazy good my wife had the crab legs she said it was great my son had the fish it was good. The salad bar was crazy ever thing in that bar off the hook I went back agine for more. The bill was the bill you pay for what you get. We will be back keep up the good service and keep the restroom clean. Great job. A+

This place has amazing food and the staff is super awesome!!! Jake was my waiter and the manager Rich came out to see if everything was ok… Very friendly and delicious food!!!

Okay place to go to for a fancy place to eat. The steaks are okay and service is pretty good. The salad bar is probably the best thing there.

This was a great restaurant! You can tell that someone cares very much about it. The service is wonderful and they try very hard to go the extra mile to make sure you are very happy. The food is unexpectedly good considering you are in the middle of no where New Mexico and the variety is fantastic. Our food was all nice and hot when it arrived. This is by far the best restaurant in this neck of the woods for quite a few hours in either direction. Don’t miss it!

We used to like coming to this place b/​c they have a huge salad bar and it was a convenient place to stop and eat before we go back to Carlsbad after shopping. During our last visit though we did not have a good experience. Our waiter was constantly coughing and hacking and I never once saw him cover his mouth! He was serving tea and I saw him cough in the pitcher! After that I wasn’t sure I wanted to eat anything and we really should have left because an hour after we left the place my 6 year old got very sick and threw up. We have not gone back since. Don’t think we ever will.

1. Most Positive: I really liked the salad bar. It had a huge selection of items and you could go back repeatedly.
2. Most negative: I had the Rib Eye cooked to a medium. I was disappointed. I should have asked how it would be prepared prior to ordering it. It was cool temperature, grey in color, and seemed to be prepared correctly. It seemed soggy and without character. I cannot reccomend it to any one to order.
Other points: We were seated at a table near the path for movement within the restaurant. I like to get served and eat. Every few minutes someone was there asking how it was, were we happy, etc. I would suggest seating off of the beaten path as then you may be able to eat in peace.
I was dressed casually (T-​shirt and jeans). My party was seated immediately.
Nice place, don’t order the steak, though.

Good food and atmosphere. There could be more health options. I wasn’t thrilled about ice berg lettuce being the main base of their salad bar. (Iceberg lettuce = no nutritional value) Other than that, I loved the décor, the elaborate salad bar and a huge menu to choose from.
I had the salmon with veggies. The mushroom appetizer was one of the more amazing mushroom dishes I’ve had.

I came to Roswell for a family reunion (haha don’t ask) and was pleased with my experience at the Cattle Baron. The dinners were all well prepared and when they completely screwed up my nephew’s dinner the manager came out to speak with him and apologize — I thought that was a really nice touch considering my nephew is young. The salad bar has a lot to choose from as well. The servers got in an argument in front of our entire table over who got to serve us… which was pretty bad from a professional stand point, but the service was fine overall.

This place has so much potential it nearly makes you sick while dredging through the meal they place in front of you. Much like some of the other places in this town, Cattle Baron is always packed with customers. It almost seems as though the citizens of this town have zero taste buds and only claim this to be the best steak in town because it has the nicest décor in town. Without the salad bar, this place would go under… fast!

The steak was great. Loved the green chili wantons. And the green chili stew was great also.

A huge salad bar with perfectly ripe fresh fruit and amazing veggie choices. The other salads were just yummy. So many choices!!!
Our waiter was Todd and he was delightful, he kept our glasses full and hot fresh bread always on our table.
We had the chicken strips and they were delicious, not the prepackage pressed chicken, it was whole chick breast meat.
This is definitely the place to eat in Roswell

HOLY SALAD BAR!!! The salad bar at this place is amazing. It only cost roughly $ 4 to add to any meal which is insane. The entrees are exceptional for the price. I have had everything from the stuff shrimp to the steaks to the burgers, and I have never been disappointed. I make about 3 trips to the salad bar before my meal arrives and still manage to finish my meal. I must say that I do go into a food coma about 1 hour later. BEWARE!!!

The staff was friendly and efficient, the only reason for the 2 stars. We ordered the chile won tons and they were delicious. The Oscar chicken was not edible and had a strange taste, I was only able to stomach 1 bite. The rib eye steak was cooked properly but lacked flavor. We filled up on the salad bar and bread. We saw the other good reviews and thought this would be a great place to try, we were sadly disappointed.

Salad bar is the size of a small swimming pool, in a good way. My ribeye was rare on one end and medium-​well on the other, my partner had to send their filet back three times. His dinner was comped, but you know how that is… The front end staff was friendly.

Good salad bar. I had a Prime Rib and it was pretty weak. Overcooked with little flavor. My coworker described his New Mexico steak as so-​so.
Staff was great — friendly and fast.

Leaving Las Vegas and Houston bound left us thinking we should choose a route with some fun stuff to see along the way.
As we drove across country to relocate to our new home, we naturally wanted to take advantage of the sights and local grub. The hubby thought going through Roswell would be a fun stop since we were driving through New Mexico. Phew! Roswell is bigger than I thought!
Driving through «Main» Street you’ll be pleased to see some well-​known chain restaurants but don’t stop there. You’ll be tired of road food and why go eat frozen chain food when you can have a yummy juicy steak and sides with all the fixins and sans aliens.
Please get the Prime Rib and sweet baked potato! A wonderful salad bar is included where you’ll find Green Chili Corn Chowdah! The Margaritas are to die for so order one! Service was friendly and prompt. A kids menu is offered too so it’s family friendly.
I have to say for an itty bitty town this restaurant offers big flavors for a big appetite.
Décor is an upscale western theme with a giant buffalo head mounted above the entrance to greet you so take some pictures.
Overall a great stop with friendly service in the middle of UFO town!

We have eaten there for both lunch and dinner. The salad bar is excellent with lots of variety and unique salad dressings to choose from. The salad bar also includes 2 soup of the day choices. I had the chicken enchilada soup which was delicious. For appetizers, I tried the green chile won tons and the jalapeño bacon stuffed shrimp. The shrimp was excellent but the won tons were a little bland for our taste.
For dinner, I had the 8 oz bacon wrapped filet. I didn’t bother eating the bacon, it was limp and didn’t look appetizing. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium and was so tender.
Next time we come, we will try to hit up Happy Hour and dine at the bar. They have great Happy Hour specials including $ 2.50 for their house wines.
This is one of our favorite Roswell dining establishments. They have great service and can accommodate a big group with ease.
