Came here with some friends for brunch. I really liked the feel of the place, with the unique décor and cool paintings. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the prices weren’t bad at all. My friends and I all had the blueberry lemon pancake… AMAZING !!! I’ll definitely be coming back !

Out of all of the places we’ve eaten this trip, The Public House in Roswell was the best by far! We only found it by mistake as we actually were actually looking for J. Christopher’s(which was renamed to Public House two years ago). We called to make sure they were open as it was New Years Day and we’d already struck out on another restaurant and had 4 kids and 4 adults getting ansty. The gentleman that answered offered to meet us outside so we found our way since we are not from the area! Once I the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised by the variety offered on the menu — everything from breakfast fare to burgers to salads to shrimp and grits. Sweet tea was served in a pitcher on the table with our crowd was a plus! Our crew ordered the Shrimp and Grits(unsure of the brown roux at first it was amazing and the serving size was one of the best value I have found in Roswell), the Dyna-mite burger(burger with cheese, bacon, and an egg) that came with hash-brown bits, Sweet Cream pancakes(Phenomenal!!! Like cake pancakes… hmmmm), Crème Brûlée French Toast(nomnomnom — this has a pudding to go on top … Words cannot describe), and several sides of the Gouda grits. The server was great, they were used to serving kids while also joking about unruly kids costing more on the kids menu($ 29.95 to be exact). The gentleman who we’d first talked to came back over at the need of our meal and we expressed how pleased we had been with the restaurant and that we’d be back in two weeks because there were so many other items we wanted to try! He started chatting with us and told us about the restaurant’s permanent residents and some of his conversations with them, the history of the building and some of his experiences! Very cool! We will be back and highly recommend the Public House to all!

My fav weekend breakfast spot! I get the kitchen sink(a little bit of everything) and a side of blueberry lemon pancakes which are to die for! Coffee is strong and made well! I give this place a perfect score, Especially seeing you’ll never know when you’ll encounter a ghost!

Very good. Had the firecracker omelette. Ambiance of the place is very nice too. Unilocal thinks my review is too short so this sentence is to make it longer so it will post.

The only reason that disqualifies this place to receive 5 stars is the service. The restaurant is very unique. The colors inside with the paintings are comfy and the decorations made me feel that this place is perfect for fall and winter. I had country fried steak with eggs and grits. eggs were cold unfortunately. However, the country fried steak was crispy and delicious. Grits was great too. My wife had shrimp and grits and that was awesome. Food generally is good but the portions are small comparing to other restaurants and considering that prices are not lower than other brunch places. The only bad part of my experience was the service. Except for the hostess, everyone that interacted with our table was rude. For some reason the waiter wasn’t happy to have us. He wasn’t friendly. He seemed angry many times.

Great restaurant! Stopped in for breakfast. The staff is friendly and attentive. The coffee was very good. The shrimp & grits were some out of the best I’ve had. A picky eater declared the pancakes to be «better than average.» Amazing. We will stop in every time we’re in town from now on. Great location, great food.

So disappointed. This is such a great space, and it was my favorite J Christopher’s. Every time I went there was always a wait and a full house. This was my first visit since it reopened as Public House, and my first observation was that the space looked exactly the same. So far so good. However, I was there around noon on a Sunday and there were only about 4 tables filled. Not a good sign, and it went downhill from there. Despite the lack of customers, our server acted like he was in the weeds and rushed our orders even though we asked for more time. We weren’t even halfway through our meal when the server put the check on the table, once again making us feel rushed. The food was okay, but as others have mentioned, it lacked any type of wow factor, and it was certainly a downgrade from the previous fare. Now for the real kicker: even though we had been rushed through our meal up to this point, once we finished, our server seemed to disappear into thin air. We sat at the table with empty plates and dirty dishes and waited, and waited, and waited. We finally had to ask another server to run the credit card for our tab. Terribly inconsistent service and mediocre food. I won’t be back.

I’ve been going to the Public House/J Christopher’s going back to when the Peasant Group owned it. When they closed for renovations about a year or more ago, I wasn’t sure they would reopen their doors, but they finally did. Since then, the place hasn’t been the same. It could be the added competition of more breakfast options in Roswell or it could be nostalgia, but I just don’t think the Public House is as good as it used to be. They used to do an eggs Benedict par excellence. Now, they don’t even poach it properly every time. A bit of perspective: I’ve never really cared for the other J Christopher restaurants. I’ve been to three other locations. A lot of items taste processed and don’t seem to be made in house. It seems like the Public House has gone that direction. Don’t get me wrong; it could be A LOT worse and the staff tries, but there’s just no wow factor. It feels akin to that one restaurant you eat at during a road trip when you have no choices. I’ve returned once or twice when I didn’t feel like waiting elsewhere, but I don’t go out of my way to eat there like I used to. I had the country breakfast there recently. The ham was good. The scrambled eggs were not. The southern gravy on the biscuit(as well as the biscuit itself) tasted very processed; the gravy could have been straight from a tub or can. The grits are great though! It’s a toss up. Some good, some bad. All in all, there are plenty of better choices, but there are worse options too. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here anymore.

Great breakfast! Excellent service. I had the 0800(eggs bacon fruit and toast). Cooked perfectly. Love that they open at 7a on Sunday too! I also notice that have some pretty creative Latte options, Banana pudding latte? Interesting.

I have been coming to Public house for a few years now, the food is always great. Since the remodel the service has really took a turn for the worst. Today it took 15 minutes for the server to greet us and she just walked away whiteout asking if we even want water. We had to flag her back down to order food, water, for water refills and coffee refills. The restaurant was empty so we could not figure out why she was not stopping by to even see if our food was ok. This has been our third poor service experience in the past 2 months. We will give them one more try great food will be missed if they can not get the service right.

This is part of the J. Christopher’s chain, but I think the menu is the best of the bunch. It’s a bit more southern(fried green tomato Benedict– yum!!) but has enough variety to satisfy the pickiest eater in the group.

I’m surprised by the bad reviews. This has become my new fav breakfast place, and I’m not even a huge J. Chris fan. I think the reason is mainly the amazing waitstaff. The owner(or manager?) always welcomes me eagerly and asks me how things were and the regular staff seem to bend over backwards to serve. I always tip generously. I LOVE the huevos olé and the fried green tomato Benny. Also hooray to breakfast places serving FRESH squeezed OJ!

Went here for brunch. I hadn’t been here before, nor had I been to a J Christophers before. Apparently this used to be the latter. We waited about 5 – 10 minutes for a table. It was kind of funny that the host would YELL out the person’s name from the waiting list while there are like 2 – 3 groups about 8 feet in front of him. We ordered Eggs Benedict, Boogie boy omelet, cheese grits, coffee and OJ. The Eggs Benedict and cheese grits were pretty good, and the boogie boy omelet was enjoyed — although it was way too much egg and too little filling. The omelet«base» was un-remarkable, without finesse, thick, and quite heavy. Shortly after we left, Everything left a very heavy feeling in our stomach’s that could only be remedied by a soft drink/sweet tea from QT. The service was certainly d-grade high school. Attempting to remove plates while folks still eating, very early drop-off of check, no run down of specials, rude interruption while I was talking to mate. I see no reason to return.

Came here for breakfast thinking it was J Christopher’s! Pleasantly surprised that it had changed names. Menu is a step up from J Christopher’s menu. Great breakfast. I got an omelet the first time I went and the special Bananas Foster French Toast the next time. Delicious without being overly sweet. My kids loved the pancakes. Had to order more! Looking forward to coming back for the lemon blueberry crepes.
