A friend introduced me to this little gem today and I won’t be a stranger! I really like the simple menu. Too many decisions at work to make. Just tell me what’s good and I’m in. And that just happened to be Rhea’s special. A double meat burger, fries and a Coke and I was set. I can say, that this is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Great conversation with the owner/chef, freshest ingredients and economical price. In business for over 30 years, and there’s a reason. What’s not to like?

Why did it take me so long to find this place! It is great! And they told me they have three locations. Everyone told me to order the Rhea’s special. It was so good. This place is nothing fancy, but cooked to order and really good. You can tell by the people coming in that they have lots of regulars that eat here. The Rhea’s special was a hamburger, with a good size hamburger patty, cheese, shredded lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and pickles. The special comes with crinkle french fries. Everything was delicious! Next time I’ll take a picture, but when that hamburger came, it looks so delicious, the only thing that was on my mind was eating it.

My wife and i decided to check this place out after seeing it on the local news. It’s unpretentious but not ‘in your face’ about it. The owner and waitress made us feel very comfortable. Should go without saying, but let me tell you that the burgers and chicken sandwiches are in-fact blissfully tasty. Will revisit when I’m the neighborhood.

Secret menu alert: Jimmy made me a burger. er. sandwich the other day. very interesting. it had 2 burger patties, 2 pork sausage patties, 2 strips of bacon, all covered in American cheese and topped with a fried egg… He called it Jimmy’s meat stack. served on his grilled french bread, it is insane! i actually didn’t want the fried egg, but half way through this monster, i wanted it. next time. and FYI, its not on the menu… and its ONLY available at the downtown roswell location on Canton St., and you have tell Jimmy that is what you want. not even his employees know about it! so if you are really hungry and wanna try something new. try Jimmy’s meat stack… its pretty damn awesome.

My only complaint is that the business closes way early. For the love of the world, this business needs to be open 24⁄7! I’ve been eating at Rhea’s for over a decade, and it’s the best burger joint in town. The owner(Jimmy) alone is worth going to see. He’s hilarious.

The original Rhea’s seems to taste better than the other location. Best cheap diner burger, but this is a cash only location so I often just go to their 2nd location. Don’t be fooled by the aesthtics of this place. I actually missed it the first time looking for it, but the experience in making an awesome burger is apparent.

Rhea’s is always a treat. Anytime I’m craving a really great burger, Rhea’s has never disappointed. It is true comfort food. The selection isn’t quite as varied as something like five guys or the like, but damn if it isn’t tasty. Rhea’s doesn’t need to hide behind fancy addons to be delish. One of my favorite things is how they grill the bread along with the patties. So much flavor. Also the chili and slaw dogs are wonderful. I get them to-go often. This particular location is literally a hole in the wall. They’re behind the corner grocery. It looks pretty small from the outside, but has plenty of space inside. The breakfast options are great too [also cheap]. $ 1.40 for a yummy sausage biscuit is hard to beat. Also, remember, cash and check only!!! You don’t want an awkward situation… haha.

Great place to get a quick burger. I love that you can get a burger on French bread. I am not a huge fan of the crinkle cut fries but my husband likes them.

I love«hole in the wall» restaurants. Rhea’s is reasonably priced and the service is friendly. I usually prefer buns for my hamburgers. For toast. .. it was good.

THEBESTBURGEREVER! Somehow I have not ballooned into a sow eating here every week but this is by far the best burger on the planet. A great place to bring the kids or grab a bite to eat after stopping by trader Joes, Pet Smart or Pikes. It’s saddens me to see an Arby’s next door, Rheas is one of the best places ever and I am so happy they are close!

I had the special burger today with Double meat, cheese, and all the fixings on sliced bread. With a side of fries and an iced tea. It’s a no B.S. kinda joint. I will go back.

After all these years of eating at Rhea’s 2(which is actually operated by one of Jimmy’s son) — I finally had the opp to check out the original, thanks to Angela M. Nestled at the intersection of Woodstock and Canton, This place looks like a complete dump on the outside. The old school truck doesn’t fight the case either. Upon walking inside(if you can stomach it), you will notice the same about the inside. I have seen cafeterias in prison with more personality to them. OK, I am kidding about that part– there is something on every wall that will make you do a double take. Because the timing of the UYE and my work schedule– I made it an hour before the event. And at the time, I was the only customer. So I got to know Jimmy real well, real quick. Many will tell you– he can be a pain in the ass. To me, he was cool. Maybe because I told him I always eat at his son’s shop. He then went on accusing his son of being gay(wow) for never bringing a woman home. I wish I had these lovely father/son talks with my dad… It was surely an ice-breaker, to say the least! The menu for the most part is the same, with a few tweaks. I did see some breakfast sandwiches, but no cheesesteaks– maybe he can make one? So I ordered 2 plain hot dogs, and come up in about 2 minutes. And damn, they were good! He likes to apply butter to items, and I am surely OK with that… The prices are low, and it is cash only– so I think that keeps it down. It was my first lunch in maybe 15 years I didn’t spend over $ 5 on lunch! While you are at it, take a look at the tip jar, it may even be older than the building… Believe it or not, they scored a high 90s on the health card, so at least I know what I am eating is legit. I havent had a burger yet from Jimmy himself, but I am sure it is just as good(if not better) than the ones his son’s team makes. I highly suggest if you have a few extra singles in your pocket and you want a decent burger– come check this place out! Thanks Angela for finally getting me here!

What can I say about Rhea’s except… YUM! Look, the joint isn’t fancy, but it doesn’t have to be and owner(and burger cook extraordinaire), Jimmy KNOWS it. The walls are painted cinder blocks and he has random stuff on the walls, including a picture of Obama that says«Under New Management.» I think he is actually looking to spark some controversy, even. Jimmy is going to serve you what he wants and you will like it — fine by me. For an outing, some of us met up and we all had the same thing — the Rhea’s Special with Double Meat. Two patties with«everything» — this means tomatoes, lettuce, chopped onions American cheese, mayo and mustard — served on slices of «French Bread. Okay, this is what the menu says, but it is really what you and I would call Texas toast(with sesame seeds). We also availed ourselves of some of the fries and a Coke(tea, water, whatever). With a Coke, the whole thing was $ 8.58. Okay, seriously some tasty vittles. A couple of bites in and I was wondering how I could skip the fries and maybe have a second burger. And those of you who know me, know that this was a LOT of food for me, so this speaks volumes. Oh, I’ll be back Jimmy, and I’ll let you be as ornery as you like. It is worth the trip.

I didnt know what I was getting myself into going to Rhea’s, but I had heard stories. Owner and Chef Jimmy is like Honey Badger, if you know what I mean. He don’t care. They sell shirts that say«If You Don’t like it, There’s the Door.» I can see why he takes this ‘tude: You probably have to with a place like this. It is nothing special to look at. Formica table tops, semi cramped seating, painted cinderblock walls like in elementary school, yellow lighting and tacky political stickers all over. It is like growing up with hand-me-down, outdated shoes and knowing in order to get past ridicule from the mean kids, you put it out there: I don’t give a crap what you think! But there’s no ridicule to be expected for the food. All four of us ordered Rhea’s Special. Two patties with«everything»(tomatoes, lettuce, onion, cheese, mayo.) on it, between two pieces of Texas toast. It is not on the South Beach Diet list, but one bite and you will also be like Honey Badger! Add fries and you’ve got a super tasty, filling, quick $ 8.50 lunch. I am a fan!

Eating lunch with Richard R, who knows Jimmy, made the experience seem like just another Wednesday lunch. Jimmy says double, and you say yes. We sat at the counter since it was just the two of us. Double on Texas toast — two patties with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty, even the tomatoes. To get a juicy, non-mealy tomato in January is a feat in and of itself. It really was a juicy burger, and despite my doubts, the Texas toast held up to the contents. The fries were nothing special — I’d say slightly under cooked, not crispy enough, and lacking salt. Ketchup was enough to fix them. The burger is all goodness without pretense. I’ll be back!

I’m a fan! Yep I am. I’ll be back. You certainly don’t come here for the ambiance or the décor. Some places adorn pictures of famous actors, while this place adorns pictures of people that have been coming here for 10 years or more, including CB(who I’m told gets his name from being a Cheap Ba****), and a picture of «the new owner» which is strikingly like Obama… The highlight you go for is the burger. I should have taken the advice and gotten the double burger, because the burgers are not thick but they really are tasty. If you go, get the french, double pattie. If you are looking for a good alternate side, try the grits, they were thick and tasty with cheese, just like I like em. the PRICE, now that’s what you come for. A Burger for $ 3.50? Did I just travel back in time? Tab for two of us was $ 11. My walet went in almost as thick as it went out. Rhea himself(well his name is actually Jimmy, THAT makes sense right) is a trip. Not at all shy, and not at all afraid to speak his mind. Sit at the bar and chew the fat with him — but only if you aren’t easily offended if the conversation continues for a while! There’s a couple of tables to sit at as well if you’drather. It’s not just take out, as the name suggests. This place doesn’t blow your mind, but for an even keel of flavor, price and experience this should definately go in your to-do list. And take cash, no plastic here!

OK, come on. It is a pretty good burger but this can’t be the best burger I ever tasted! In fact, you can get a better burger within a mile. Granted I should have gotten the double patty but who knew the damn things were going to be thinner than OJ’s alibi. The best thing about the burger is the Texas toast they serve it on. The ingredients that I had were fresh but the day we were bad they wouldn’t serve the coleslaw because it had gone bad. I, being a customer, am not a fan of the surley attitude and, frankly, find it a pain in the ass that they don’t take credit cards. So, thanks for the sign telling me where the door is. I will make sure not to enter it again.

Have you ever been in one of those moods where you just want to haul off and slap something? Anything would do! Don’t know why, but it’s been one of those days. Maybe it’s just pinned-up frustration or could be the SEVERE heat we’ve been having lately, I dunno. So I figured I would come over to Rhea’s for a burger. Why you ask? Because I could slap this dude all day! The owner here(Jimmy) can be soooo obnoxious. He loves to argue and push your buttons. He will start a conversation about Obama, politics or anything controversial just to get a rise out of you. It was a real shock to me the first time I came here, but I’ve been back several times over the years and now I’m just immune. Or maybe it’s because he makes a really good burger, so I keep my mouth shut and get my order and go. I suppose over time I’ve come to really like this guy, because he’s quirky and interesting in a way you don’t normally find. Just look at the signs posted in his store. It’s probably more common in cities like NY, but you just don’t find that brazen attitude from business owners in Atlanta. Adds a little more flavor to the burger and character to this ‘hole in the wall’ establishment that’s been in the community of Roswell forever. I’m just kidding about slapping anybody. I’ve really grown to like Jimmy and today he was especially pleasant. If you are looking for an awesome burger, this is one of the best you will find in metro Atlanta. Just one word of warning: this is a burger that WANTS to be on your clothes. It’s sloppy and messy in all the right ways and I have no doubt you will thoroughly enjoy it. Just bring a bib! —– NOTE: Cash Only! As Samuel L Jackson said in Pulp Fiction. «That is a tasty burger!» I had the special burger today with Double meat, cheese, and all the fixings on sliced bread. With a side of fries and an iced tea. IT is what you think a lunch counter burger from back in the day would taste like. Simple pieces put together to make a complex juicy american staple! I would give the fries about an 85%…not awesome but tasty. a little thick for my tastes but hot and ready to eat fresh to order! I am going to try the hotdog next time and see what all the chatter is about with the breakfast. Just need to get up in time! :) ******* THEYTAKECASHORCHECKSONLY*******
