Summary: Come here for a break from driving on Rt. 7 Wine(2⁄5): Tasting covers about 6 different wines. None of which will really stand out to you if you’ve had VA wine before. The Sangria was excellent, but that’s not why you came is it? Environment(3⁄5): A fine standing bar for tasting. There lots of comfortable chairs to sit and, if you time it right, there might be live music. View(1⁄5): Rt.7 in front of you and an ugly swamp out the back. It’s prettier when you don’t look outside. My wife and I have the goal of touring all the vineyards in the state with the 2015VA Wine Pass. Each place we go we’re looking for an interesting wine-tasting environment, a beautiful view and most importantly delicious wine. You can find more reviews of vineyards from the VA wine pass here:

Nice tasting room and small outdoor patio. Definitely doesn’t have the best scenery compared with many of the other vineyards in the area. The wines are decent and the service is friendly, but I still prefer other nearby vineyards.

I read the reviews stating this was an «odd place», but my wife and I decided to give it a try anyways. The lady who served seemed rushed and quite harried, although the tasting room was not at all crowded. She quickly took our money to pay for our tasting, poured the first wine, then disappeared without a word. She reappeared to pour the next wine, quickly poured, and once again without a word disappeared again. This pour and disappear routine continued for each wine until we were ready for the last red. Our server was no where to be found. The other server who had been with other customers came over to check on us and we told him that we were waiting for the last wine to be poured. He poured the wine and then he to left for the kitchen. We didn’t care for any of the wines and had already played, so we left too. I’m happy that I can cross this winery off my list, but sorry that the customer service and wine quality makes this a «one and gone.»

On our way home from Bluemont Vineyard we stopped here. The inside is sharp and clean but doesn’t have the homey vineyard atmosphere you would expect. We did a wine tasting for $ 10 for 6 wines. The wine lady was very informative and tried to figure out what we liked, which she succeeded because we walked away buying 2 bottles of mulled wine when we weren’t planning to buy anything. Definitely worth a stop for sure.

We were on our way to Veramar for their Friday night wine down and decided to stop here since they are their sister winery and we were running late. There was entertainment and Heather was friendly and knowledgeable. After our tasting we enjoyed a charcuterie on the patio. My husband had the port which was delicious and I am not normally a port fan abd I had their new Skinny B white which is a reduced calorie and sugar white that was very good! No, it doesn’t have the views of Veramar but it was very enjoyable and the food and staff made it great. Will recommend and such an easy stop between Purcellville and Berryville on Rt.7.

Odd place. Went in for a tasting, was kinda rushed through it. The girl working in the tasting room was nice, but the place seemed dead and had a weird vibe to it. Was not a big fan of any of the wines they had. I am trying to hit all the wineries in Loudoun, so I was able to check this off my list, but probably will not be back.

While on our little wine tour along Route 7, we had sought out Bogati Bodega after research and intrigue of their homage to Argentinian inspired wines. We arrived to this big warehouse building right off the highway and were a bit bewildered wondering if we were at the right place. While there are no vineyards to play in, they grow and make their wine at sister winery, Veramar Vineyards, about 7 miles west. Bogati Bodega and Winery is more like a wine bar where there are plenty of wines available for tasting. They have their regular selection of wines in rotation for regular tastings and then if you check on their calendar of events, they’ll have special tastings for wines not regularly available, like their port style wine which I would be interesting to try. There is also a food menu, cigars, and indoor and outdoor seating. Considering the location of Bogati off route 7, their outdoor seating out back overlooks a pond and is quieter than expecting and actually quite cute. Staff is very nice and personable, we received a great tasting and great conversation. Of their wines, we tasted: B Thin– inspired by the«skinny brand», Bogati Bodega created a light white wine full of floral notes, apple and prickly pear. For a light wine, this one is crisp and with their boasting of lighter in calories, I can see this as a hit with the ladies! 2012 Bogati Albarino– Tad sweet White with tropical notes that would pair well with spicy foods. 2011 Bogati Seyval Blanc– delicate white with a long finish, also available at Veramar Vineyards Bogati Tango Blue– soft balanced wine 2012 Bogati Touriga Nacional– The taste is round and mature, with silky tannins. Red fruits follow through from the nose into a long, concentrated, fresh finish. Fat *ss Red– *giggle* I couldn’t wait to get to this wine for tasting and to hear the taster say fat ass. This blend is said to have a «big personality»(and calories) and they aren’t kidding. Wine is big and bold and earthy with berries and spices. I loved the velvety feel on the palate. Wow. 2011 Bogati Malbec– Probably my favorite of the bunch, their malbec is smooth and full bodied with notes of black cherry, berries, vanilla, violets, pepper, and toast. Well poised and elegant. Mucho mucho sexy! I couldn’t resist taking a bottle home for personal consumption. Sangria– Bogati’s seyval mixed with orange juice, ginger ale, limes and lemons for a nice hint of fresh citrus. Almost like a mimosa! While at Bogati, we had learned a lot about their winery and their sister winery and they gave us a coupon for discounted wine tastings at Veramar Vineyards which we were eager to try and made changes to our wine tour intinerary. Big ups to Bogati for being welcoming and pet friendly. They are also available for private event rentals. Check out their calendar, we’d for sure go again.

I have been here twice now and am definitely in like with the place. Both times(once during the week, once on a weekend) we have come here after visiting their sister vineyard(Veramar Vineyard) up the road. Both times have been about an hour before closing, so I haven’t ever seen the place very full. The staff has been extremely friendly on both occasions and have told us the story behind the décor, which makes me feel more connected to the winery than I would have otherwise. They do not grow grapes on the premises, which doesn’t bother me at all, but I do agree with another Unilocaler that that makes this feel more like a wine bar than a vineyard. The furnishings are upscale, but comfy; so the interior feels like a posh lounge. I like it! As for their wines, I think the Albarino and Malbec are both very good. This winery also has more available for purchase than just cheese and bread, which is a nice change; and although I was disappointed to hear the empanadas are no longer available(they were heavenly!), the pizza we split was very good. I highly recommend doing a pairing with food or chocolate, just be aware if you get a $ 5 tasting coupon from Veramar this does not count towards the pairing tastings.

We were in the area trying different wineries and a nice place to eat and were planning on capping the day off with a trip to the comedy night at the Bogati Bodega.(something we pre-arranged, as we visit wineries nearly every weekend) There were 4 of us(2 couples) who bought our tickets separately and we noted in the online purchase process that we wanted to sit together, this was further confirmed by an email we received from the staff advising they would have us sitting together. We showed up to the venue at 6PM, as the tickets and notice for the show advised it was at 6:30PM. Upon checking in they gave the 4 of us our tickets and we learned we were sitting at 2 different tables. This was odd and we mentioned that we were supposed to be together. The young lady working checked with someone and came back and allowed us to sit together. Since the show package came with a glass of wine, we checked their wine offerings. They advised they weren’t doing tastings at that time, we just needed to pick one(odd for a «vineyard») because they didn’t «have time» for tastings with all the people coming in. The wines we picked were ok, but nothing special. Upon sitting down, we took out a few snacks we brought in, which we typically bring to wineries to enjoy light snacks with a bottle. One of the staff quickly came over and advised that no outside food was permitted. We advised that person that this was not stated anywhere on their website and if it is, it must be hidden somewhere in small print. We always check this on winery websites first as some, a very few don’t allow patrons to bring their own snacks. As a result of this we didn’t buy the bottles we were going to buy, nor did we buy any of their over-priced pizza. We then sat and waited and waited and waited… At 8PM was when they started the show. Again, we were advised this was at 6:30, not 8. We re-checked our confirmation email and the tickets and nothing suggested the 8PM start time. Had we known about such a late start time, we would’ve spent more time at the other, friendlier wineries before coming here. The first comedian that came out to get the crowd in the mood was horrible… really not funny at all. The headliner was awesome! Very funny and a great comedian! It’s interesting to note that they get their wine from Veramar Vineyard which is several miles away. This is more of a tasting room. Maybe the experience is better at Veramar, but it’s not that good here and we won’t be back. It’s also interesting that another reviewer on Trip Advisor noted some problems they had while attending a mystery dinner experience here… seems we shared similar mismanagement. Loudon really isn’t a bad area for vineyards and we’ll be back, but an experience like this(typical of hi-traffic Northern VA area) is why we stick to the Fauquier and Central VA(C-Ville, etc) vineyards.

I had a great experience tasting wine at Bodega Bogati today. Katie was super friendly and very knowledgeable about the wines. She made us feel very welcome as she poured our tasting. The wines were very tasty especially the white wines. I will definitely come back again when I have more time to hang out on the patio or by the pond.

This is not your typical winery – it is almost more of a wine bar. The grapes are not grown on the property – but there is a vintner that does create the wine. That being said, the wines are very good and their tasting room is very nice. They even have a small back patio area where you can drink wine! We really enjoyed the Albarino($ 21) – a nice sweet white wine, the Collection I($ 26) – a deep earthy wine, and the Malbec($ 24) – a fruit forward full bodied wine. We wound up picking up the Malbec to take home. The taster also let us try a reserve wine – the Touriga National Reserve – which was amazing – but unfortunately not for sale. It was right off the highway in the middle of our wine route that day, so it was definitely worth the stop. We also were able to get $ 1 tastings through the Tuskie’s Wine Trail brochure. We may return in the future if it is on our route again.

Come on, man, it’s a winery. How would it not get five stars? :) In all reality, the staff are knowledgeable about the wine and I got a free glass of sangria with the tasting(a $ 7 value for free with the $ 7 tasting). There is plenty of space inside and lots more space outside. And they don’t get upset if you just leave after tasting OR if you just sit and stay for a long time with cheese and whatnot. I really enjoy the wines here too. I’m generally not even a huge fan of reds but they are even good here. I would recommend any of the wines where they got the grapes from Spain or Portugal — both on the tasting menu when I was here last time were delicious.

The wine here is tasty, and I really like the various sample packages that they offer. We sampled quite a few wines paired with various shades of chocolate, and had we not eaten before we came, we would have definitely jumped on the sampler tray of food or cheese platter. We tried about six different wines, as well as had a couple of glasses of Sangria, and still managed to get out of there for under thirty bucks — Well, before we bought a couple of bottles of wine that is. So why two stars? Well, I’ll tell you. What I don’t like about Bogati is that they advertise a «Mystery Dinner» where they don’t announce what the actual meal is, as they themselves don’t know what it’s going to be because it’s apparently made by a friend of the winery. Here’s the catch though — They don’t even know if they’re going to have said dinner that they’re advertising because the person making it may decide not to for the evening. Get this, the wine server even told us, «The last time we were supposed to have mac and cheese, but the owners ate it all.» WHAT? You’re advertising a meal for patrons that they may or may not even get because the owners are eating it? This just doesn’t sit well with me. I suppose if I were to just review this as a winery, I’d be all about giving it three stars, maybe even four. It has a cozy atmosphere, the prices are comparable, but the fact that they advertise a possible meal that they may or may not have just rubs me the wrong way. It feels like a bait and switch operation — Come in expecting a nice cozy meal, and get told, «We don’t have that tonight, but feel free to purchase some wine and cheese plates.» Maybe it would be different if there were some restaurants around it that you could fall back on, but Bogati is in the middle of nowhere, and for me it’s also an hour drive. If you come to Bogati, come for the wine, skip the 50⁄50 opportunity of a meal for the evening.

Agreed with other reviews. Bogati has an odd feeling being in a parking lot off a main road. The interior is beautiful, and the service is good, and the wines are decent, but it’s a very odd location. I sincerely hope Bogati moves at some point to a much better location that provides for a feeling of a place where you want to sit, enjoy a bottle and some food, and relax.

I came to Bogati Bodega on a Friday night with a few friends. We all did a tasting and then some apps and a bottle of Malbec. The staff was really friendly and the live music was great too!

Experienced MUCH better in the local area. I agree with a prior reviewer, the location is weird. Very sterile-looking inside. We had a group reservation, 9 women on a special occasion limo tour. They weren’t ready for us when we arrived as scheduled. Knowledgeable and friendly staff? The girl working behind the counter couldn’t be bothered to tell us about the wines she was hurriedly pouring, rather she was more interested in talking to her friends off to my left about how busy, exhausting and annoying her day had been with«all these groups». Was also annoyed when we asked to switch out glasses due to some nasty tasting residue. I was then given a hot glass and the place was practically empty. Great. The other girl working behind the counter seemed equally rushed and overwhelmed at managing two smaller groups of one couple each. Caught them rolling their eyes at each other a couple times after looking at members of our group. On to the wine, I’ve had better in every varietal. Finished with a white wine sangria which was just disgusting. Orange juice, white wine with something else — after a malbec with no palate cleanser. The other three wineries we went to that day all treated our group with respect(lack thereof at Bogati), were eager to see us and two even had us off in private areas. Just the vibe the girl was throwing off could have easily skewed my opinion but really, you can do better.

All I can say is I’m glad I didn’t come here with a Groupon. OK, I can say more. Bogati Bodega had a weird feel to me, since it’s in a warehouse-looking building with other retail outlets, set smack-dab on Route 7 directly fronting the highway. I wasn’t sure we were in the right place. I can think of other wineries that lie directly along major routes(Gray Ghost, Quattro Goombas, Prince Michel) that put up better fronts. And I do like a vineyard with a view — or at least a more pastoral setting. But when all was said and done, we had quite a nice tasting at Bogati Bodega. And this spot does have one of the prettier, more sophisticated tasting rooms I’ve seen(except for the photo mural of Buenos Aires; there have *got* to be much prettier places in that city than a street corner full of neon-lit warehouses.) Our taster was Jolene, and she told us she’d only just begun giving tastings at Bogati. She was a bit shaky, but we could tell she was working hard and wanted to make sure we got all the pertinent info about the wines we were tasting that day(thanks, Jolene!). For $ 7 we sampled three whites, three reds, and Bogati’s own signature sangria. For my money, Bogati excels at the reds, tho just about all the wines were pleasant. A 2010 Seyval Blanc kicked off the tasting and had a nice, minerally evolution. I really liked the ’09 Viognier. Every Virginia winery seems to have their version. Bogati’s had a beautiful straw-gold color and dry, citrusy finish. Supposedly if you age this one awhile it develops a mellower, toastier flavor. Husband and I definitely don’t have the patience… or will-power…for aging wines. The NV Tango Blu — a Riesling, Vidal Blanc, Viognier blend — was herbal and acidic. Reds started with a really nice ’11 Cabernet Franc followed by my favorite wine in the tasting, the 2011 Malbec. This wine had a gorgeous claret coloring and a warm, berry nose. Husband and I bought a bottle for, ahem, aging. The last red was a 2009 Collection I Cabernet Fran/Merlot blend. We finished off the tasting with Bogati’s white sangria, their Viognier blended with ginger ale, orange juice, and citrus fruit. While tasting we noticed that Bogati offers a tapas menu as well as a tapas/wine pairing, small plate dinners, and hosts tango evenings in homages to their Argentinian roots. With wines this decent, I’d definitely be tempted back to experience one of these events.

Knowledgeable and friendly staff(about their wines, area wineries, & more!); warm and inviting atmosphere; divine wine and food; $ 5 tasting fee; open more hours than other wineries(week & weekends); literally right on the highway(don’t pass it up!!). They host other events that are worth attending, beyond their tasting. Again, their wine is DIVINE. Purchase a tasting, bottle or by the glass. Lots to choose from! My husband and I did the tapas & wine pairing. $ 25 per person would have been worth it, but we had a deal for $ 25 for two… making it extra worth it. We received two huge glasses of wine, and two large portions of tapas plates and a side of bread. We hung out drinking and eating and chatting for 2 hours. We’ll definitely be back for another event or just to enjoy the wine & atmosphere.
