Taco Tuesday is the best they got great tacos! Bartenders are very friendly. the only thing I find off about this place. They’re desperately trying to seek for an Identity! One night they have a comedy night the next night its a metal show then the next night a rap battle. I get your trying to seek out younger crowds but choose one see if it works not a 100 different things in a span of a month and then seeing where you went wrong. Also be sure to get only bottles and drinks and shots. NEVERGETANYTHINGONTAP!!! THEYTASTELIKEMOLDLIKETHELINESHAVEN’T BEENCLEANEDINYEARS! ITSOHAPPENSTHISPLACEISACROSSTHESTREETFROMBUKANA’S WITCHIS A HORRIBLEPLACE! This place has alot of potential but fails to recognize itself!

This is a hidden gem in Round Lake. Four months ago, the Chef Alvaro Chevez started serving dishes at this location. We found out about it word-of-mouth from the woman who does my wife’s pedicures in Libertyville.(Hey, it had to be good, right?) Copa’s is nice tavern that had a steady business in downtown Round Lake Next to the Metra Stop. Folks park their Harley’s and come in on the weekends to enjoy the live music on Friday/Saturday nights. We went Sunday night and the place was pretty empty, but don’t let that scare you away. I think their main crowd comes Friday/Saturday nights for the live music. This was a great time to just have a relaxed meal and great service. Chef Chavez has a select menu that focus’s on fresh made Mexican dishes with a flair. We started with Margaritas, served on the rocks, and they were quite tasty. You have a good beverage selection from Mexican beers to about six specialty drinks with tequila. The Guacamole is fresh made and served quickly. The appetizer menu is pretty extensive so you can have the house specialty, Scallops pan seared with salsa or a variety of items. We also ordered the Chorizo Quesadillas and they were fantastic.(really!) All items are flavored very well. For our entrée’s we went with the skirt steaks, which were done to perfection and served with a side of what I think was garlic mashed tomatoes with some other good stuff inside. Even the side of green beans was flavorful and complimented the meal. In the Grayslake area, there are not a lot of choices for dining so if you want to have a great meal and an equally great Margarita, go to Copas!

Excellent food! Not your typical Mexican food. It’s Mexican cuisine with a French influence. Fabulous food with delicious sauces. Chef Alvaro Chavez makes me want to come back and try some more of his delicious creations.
