My mother was a resident at A Serene Setting from July 2013 until her death in December of 2013. Prior to her residency there, she had been living in her home with difficulty which increased dramatically after she had a serious fall in June 2013 that required hospitalization and rehabilitation. My mother’s story is a complicated one in large part because of the exacting nature of her personality. It was because of her personality that my family did not have much optimism that her stay at A Serene Setting would be successful. I can only say that Colleen(the director) and her staff worked miracles to enable her stay there to work out. The kindness, patience, understanding, and helpfulness we experienced there went beyond any expectation I could have had. These qualities stemmed from genuine and not manufactured traits of Colleen and her staff that I have never encountered with people in elder care. Though I know that my mother’s residency there brought daily challenges which even I felt were intolerable, I never got any feedback from Colleen that was not positive and solution oriented. A Serene Setting is a very special place which is truly oriented towards the needs of each resident. It was very easy to be in contact with Colleen and to work out solutions to difficulties which, in my case, were on a daily basis. I have a deep feeling of gratitude to A Serene Setting and feel extremely fortunate to have found them. I can only give this facility the highest possible recommendation.
