Great little park with lots of ducks and geese, comfy benches, one mama duck had a bunch of babies following her around.

A fisherman at Mills Pond in Wells Branch recommended this park. I visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The walking trails were pretty extensive for a neighborhood park. They were made of crushed gravel. That’s my favorite material since it’s easiest on the knees! There is a nice lake that’s waterfowl-friendly. The ducks and geese are able to retreat from pestering humans and the afternoon sun. The shores are webbed feet-friendly – made of dirt and grass. The park level to the water has a steep incline/decline in some places; the waterfowl seemed to navigate the hill ok, but it could be better. I saw a goose with a terrible case of angel wing. Please don’t feed the waterfowl bread – you can google for reasons why.(Since the afflicted goose is domestic and couldn’t fly with normal wings anyway, it’s not a big deal in this case. However, if you find future mallard or muscovy ducklings developing angel wing, you can message me and I will fix it if caught early enough.) There are tennis courts and restrooms. There seems to be only one small parking lot. I’ll update this review more after more visits.

Why no love for Round Rock West Park? I have grown up in this neighborhood forever. This park is simple but is always a great time. Recently in the past couple of years there’s been some improvements and maintenance that has kept this park busy. There’s 2 tennis courts with lights in the evening, a sand volley ball court and a decent playscape with swings. There’s also a gravel walking trail around the park for a nice stroll, jog or walk. This is more famously known to the locals as «The Duck Pond» since there’s a pond and some ducks that roam around. My most recent visit was to take some left over bread to feed the ducks and walk Samuel. There were a half a dozen or so ducks roaming around so I spread the love/food as much as I could. I was worried that Samuel was going to freak out but he didn’t mind them at all. There are benches, picnic tables and grills spread out throughout the park. There’s also a pavilion area with a few tables, grill and restrooms. This is a great neighborhood park to meet up for a picnic, sit and relax to listen to the water and watch the ducks, or for a friendly match of tennis.
