We went there sunday 10/11/2015 for late lunch around 2015. The place was pretty busy and I understand that this might cause a delay. however it took 20 minutes before someone even noticed we were there and gave us a menu. After we ordered we waited another 40 min and still didn’t get a refill of our drinks or a notification that the kitchen was busy and there is a wait… then we saw that people that came in after us were eating their meals… so we got up paid for our ice teas and left.

Great German food! We had the Reuben sandwiches — both regular and red. Warm German potato salad was yummy too. Left with a box of pastries and cookies as well.

Reuben’s were awesome, there were two kinds, a regular and one with turkey red cabbage had great flavor! Desserts were amazing too. Viennese coffee with whip cream and chocolate shavings was delish!

Hartmann’s Kaffeehaus is a little place that puts its heart into their product. Authentic style German pastries and desserts that are really satisfying. If you’re fond of desserts that aren’t overly sweet try the butter cake. The Christmas stollen is always something I treat my family to during the holidays. I’m only scratching the surface here… there are many really great things to choose from. Hartmann’s Kaffeehaus is the gem of the Catskills!!! :)

Great cakes. Very much a homely environment. Full disclosure — never tried the regular fare; only desserts. However, I’ve never heard any complaints about the breakfast or lunch menu. Pricing is fine. If you get sat down and served food you can’t expect to get away with a $ 1 donut or a $ 3 slice of pie. In my mind, it’s cheap. The Bienestich is my absolute favorite. Try this cake. Don’t expect fast service. The people there move at a very slow pace. But they are friendly none-the-less. Have gone. Will continue to go. You should also.

Really cute place. We stopped for coffee and stayed for cake. Coffee is standard fare but the patties and cakes we tried were great. The ladies who helped us were German and were very friendly and helpful.

I love this place. Always very busy. Sow but it’s worth the wait. The French toast is perfectly crisp and flavorful and the Hartman’s omelette is hearty and tasty. Also try the Viennese coffee if you a looking for a sweet coffee treat. And that is just breakfast. They have some of the best pastries I’ve ever had. Danishes are huge and are amazing. Just make sure you get there early because they sell out fast.

We came for lunch on our way home from Hunter Mountain. Excellent atmosphere, service, authentic German food and bakery. Definitely recommend stopping in for lunch or breakfast.

This place is so overrated by hungry tourists who have no other choices in the area that it’s laughable. In reality, this bakery is simply average, but with ridiculously high prices for their mediocre offerings: The cakes are no different in size, texture, or quality than you’d find at any run-of-the-mill Greek diner; their rubbery little jelly donuts — tiny, greasy, and misshapen — are almost a crime being sold for $ 1.50 apiece; their cellophane-wrapped cakes are always stale and dry(these are the remainders that didn’t sell by-the-slice in the store, now repackaged for take-home by unwitting tourists who won’t discover that they’re stale until they’ve gotten home and, of course, are now too far away to return them. I can go on and on, but won’t. You get the idea. The food here isn’t too bad, just insane Manhattan– like prices for such second-rate fare.

My family & I were visiting a friends home in Windham over the Labor Day weekend & were given dessert as the item to bring. I « UnilocalED» bakeries near my current location & came up here! We traveled the 15 minutes to Round Top & found an awesome selection of baked goods & a cute café looking area to eat in! We bought the Mocca cake & it was excellent! Had a jelly donut while we waited that was fantastic! Def stop by here when it’s your turn to bring the dessert!

Loved the baked goods and table dining. The service is friendly and everything is fresh. The prices are reasonable and the décor is old style and fun with silly signs.

This bakery has an exceptional selection of cakes and pastries. Breakfast and lunch are served off to the side. Service was a bit slow as there were too many people for the wait staff. That cost the place a star. I heard a lot of German accents and that reminded me of my mother-in-law. I liked the place anyway.

Best German pastries in NY? Yes I think so. I don’t make statements like that easily but Hartmann’s cakes are at the top of my list when it comes to desserts. They are perfectionists and it shows in every one of their cakes, strudels and cookies. The recipes have all been passed down from the previous owner & they have continued the tradtion. They make the famed Furst Puckler or(German Napoleon cake) This cake literally has about 8 layers, alternating marzipan, strawberry mousse, chocolate mousse, vanilla mousse, sponge cake and apricot jam. Believe me, it’s one of a kind and a very special dessert. I dream about this cake and a few of their pastries when I’m far from the Catskills. Top pastries: 1) Poppy Strudel 2) Franchipan pastry 3) Marzipan pastry Other than the pastries & cakes being unforgettable, the restaurant itself also serves breakfast and lunch. The women who work here are always the sweetest and they serve standard eggs, French toast etc but they are all done right. Be ready to wait patiently for a tableif you come on a weekend, theres usually only 2 women serving about 8 tables so bare with them! This might be an odd recommendation but you have got to order the oatmeal. Creamiest oatmeal served with cinnamon sugar on the side. plus they give you a huge portion! It’s heaven! Other favorites include the German potato salad and bratwurst platter. Really authentic, no-frills food! Spending every summer in the Catskills, I’ve had my share of food from Hartmann’s and I’m telling you, you can’t go wrong with anything you order. There’s a reason they’ve been around since 1959!

Wonderful, big breakfast selection. You won’t leave hungry! Very nice women running the show here. You willl probably leave with a big box of their cookies, pastries, cakes or strudels. Excellent quality! A hidden gem and less than a mile from my house! Lucky me! Extrememly reasonable prices. A+

You can’t beat the pastries at Hartmann’s, it changed owners quite a few years but you can’t tell, except for some additions to the menu. The previous owners did a wonderful job showing the current owner the ropes on how to make their fabulous pastries. Great service, great food… definitely a place you don’t want to miss. I agree with the other review the bratwurst platter is the best lunch item, I’ve never find pastries to match Hartmann’s in all my travels.

Most people go here for the pastry(note: I believe it’s Austrian, not German). But if you like liverwurst, real liverwurst, this is the one place in the Hudson Valley to order a liverwurst sandwich.

This Coffee House is German owned and operated by German women. It is open for Breakfast and Lunch. It is also a first class bakery, with strudels, cakes, pies and cookies that are wonderful. Fantastic country feel nestled in the Catskill mountains. This is a hidden treasure of the Catskills. It’s a German operation that has been in operation since 1959. The inside has quaint décor and is very clean and well maintained. For breakfast they serve two jars of marmalade table-side which you should not miss! Very tasty. Breakfasts are the standard affair and are well prepared. They make a Kafee Haus Omelet which is very good. For lunch i recommend the bratwurst platter which is served with warm potato salad, rye bread and German mustard. The restaurant is open from 9 – 5 and is closed on Monday and Tuesdays.

Beautiful pastries, fruit and almond stollen in the fall in time for xmas, They do serve breakfast, but save your caloric intake for the pastries and coffee. They open at nine am for breakfast. I went to a wedding that had their cake from Hartmann’s and it was the best wedding cake I had ever eaten.
