My daughter and I were in Royers today around 12:30 — 1:00pm when a lady mistakenly drank some of another woman’s drink. One of the employees asked in annoyance if she had to make another one(now I’m unclear of what was said back) however, we saw the employee take off the whip, Pour the drink in another cup and redo the whip. Just plain wrong!

Delicious and fantastic selection of pie. You can even sip on a beer you purchased at their other restaurant here while you savor the baked goods.

We were in Round Top for the 1st Annual Fried Chicken Throwdown. Although we were stuffed from five chefs’ best fried chicken and sides, we still had room for some pie. I was glad that we made the walk over to this location from the Throwdown because there was a much larger selection at this location. I ordered a piece of pie with ice cream to eat THERE, a slice of pie to go and some of their little Cutie Pies to take home to share. The person behind the counter packed up all of the parts of my to go order and said my piece to eat THERE would be right out. I had seen someone before me order pie with ice cream to eat THERE, and it came out on a nice plate with ice cream on top. So that’s what I was expecting for my piece to eat THERE. That’s not what I received. The person who fixed my piece to eat«THERE» put the slice in a to go container and then stuffed the ice cream on top of the pie in the small container. It was not ideal and not what I expected. While still at the counter picking up my slice to eat THERE and realizing they hadn’t fixed it to eat THERE, I asked if I could please have a plate(to be able to actually eat the slice THERE). The girl behind the counter literally threw a paper plate down on the counter in front of me without a word. I’m not sure why I didn’t get the same presentation the person before me, but it would have been much nicer. The pie that I ordered to eat THERE was Texas Trash with Shiner Bock ice cream on top. It was absolutely delicious. The pies were fantastic. If the service were even adequate, this would be a five star place. Unfortunately, the service is nowhere near as good as the pies.

My hubby and I love this place! I ordered the buttermilk pie and iced chai, it was great… good sturdy crust and great flavor. Love the small shop charm!

We used Royers Pie Haven in Round Top to do cutie pies as a take away gift for my daughter’s wedding! It was Nov. 15th so we did pumpkin and pecan pies. They were delicious and everyone raved about them! We placed them on a table close to the exit with a sign that sais«All you need is Love and Pie!» Thank you Tara for helping us with this and for creating such delicious treats for our guests! I have no idea what these other reviewers are talking about. First of all: don’t get this neat little pie and coffee shop confused with Royer’s Café… this is PIEHAVEN and it’s HEAVEN. You don’t wait to be seated, you order at the counter and seat yourself. No worries. There’s plenty of places to sit and enjoy the great atmosphere at Round Top under the shady old live oak trees. Yes, there’s a lot of décor to look at — I think it’s funny. NO — they don’t do cream pies! If you want a cream pie, go to any other dinky restaurant in Texas. They serve the BEST gourmet pies here, ever! I can’t see how anyone can be disappointed in Pie Haven and I’ve had just about every pie they make… it’s a good thing I work out a lot. As for the Ding-Dong: you had better be prepared to eat a good bit of chocolate covering and butter-cream goodness or share with a friend. The butter cream icing and chocolate covering is part of the point of having a Ding-Dong to start with. It’s massive and it’s wonderful! Pie Haven is our weekend treat and it’s the best place in Round Top. Period.

We were so excited to finally make it to this legendary place, but everyone in our group of 4 was very disappointed. Though we were the only ones at the door waiting to be seated, it took a long time for us to be given one of the many empty tables because staff was visiting with one another and taking pictures together. Another 8 minutes passed before we were greeted by a server. The prices are very, very high. A salad at lunch was nearly $ 13. A BBQ sandwich is $ 9, and the fries are extra. Want a pie? $ 30. Entrees on the low-end are $ 18 and go up to $ 40 for a steak. Back to the pies — I hate to say it, but — worst pies I have ever eaten. I got a sampler of 4 types of pie, and not a one was good. My friend also ordered a sampler with 4 other types. The crust is whitish, without flavor and mushy/goopy on the bottom. They also top them with so much gunk(excess strudel, brown sugar/pecan clumps, oatmeal?) that you can scarcely taste the pie flavor. I do not get the attraction.

Terribly disappointed. We stopped here because we’d heard the hype. Sadly, it’s all hype. We ordered a slice of Not Your Mom’s Apple Pie, a Ding Dong and a Sprite. The best part was the Sprite. This is the place cheesy inspirational quotes go to die or get written in Sharpie all over every.single.surface. First, when I asked for a chocolate meringue, the counter girl looked at me like I had 3 heads while she barked that«we don’t DO cream pies!» What? In Texas at a small town pie shop I can’t get a chocolate meringue pie? The crust of the pie has ground pecans in it, yet we were told specifically that it did not. Imagine my surprise when I(who am severely allergic) almost took a bite. The Ding Dong had so much hardened buttercream in it that I had to scrape it out to taste the cake. I should have left it in as the cake was dry and flavorless. And the prices? They are sure proud of their pie. Our bill was $ 24. Ridiculous. We won’t go back and I suggest you don’t waste your time.

This is the pie to judge all other pies by. Flavor, appearance, texture, creativity, whatever category you can think of, it is 5 out of 5. Cute little store in a cutesy little town that your mother would probably like more than you. Go now. Or go to the satellite pie shop in Austin. So delicious. Seriously, I just ate two slices and I’m dreaming of my next slice!

Love me some Pie Haven! Sweet and Savory along with coffee. The décor is as cute as can be and staff is friendly. I just wish it was closer! Wait no I don’t — I wouldn’t be able to walk!

The«Salted Caramel Pie» was created by the Buddha, a pink unicorn, two nymphs and baby Jesus. Right after the magical recipe was perfected an angel whispered it into the ear of the Royers Pie Baker during a dream. She said that when you eat a slice, all your sins will be absolved and only good karma will flow to you. Now here is my question: Is it wrong to eat just the inside of a slice of Royers’ pie? I don’t eat gluten so that is my way around that no GF thing. But this pie crust is so, so flaky! It’s as flaky as Uncle Ned who never shows up when he says he will. When in Round Top for antiques, the symphony, Shakespeare or just food, you must get some pie. Or, stop by their Austin store at Guadalupe and 29th location. PS~They now have Pie Shakes. What???

How does this place have one review? Especially since it’s about to open a new location in Austin(at the former Toy Joy location on the north end of the drag), I figured more folks would be talking about it. It’s been churning out the most famous pies in Central Texas for years. Royers Café( ) is sort of the Threadgills of Round Top and is the best spot in town for lunch or dinner. The spin-off coffee shop/bakery around the corner, however, is the real treat. Slices are under $ 5 each and come with or without Amy’s Ice Cream. I had lemon custard/blueberry. My wife had(I think) salted caramel fudge. My in-laws had hot pecan … The selection was incredible. If you’re with three friends(or if your group is really hungry) you can head over to the Café and get a pie sampler plate – four different slices to share(I didn’t see it on the menu at RPH). Edit: never mind. The sampler plate is $ 25 at the café, or you can just come to Royers Pie Haven and get four slices for under $ 20. For some reason, they’re cheaper over here! They have amazing coffee and a big selection of espresso drinks and sweets. I can’t wait to come back and try one of the savory pies(chicken pie, BBQ pie, spinach pie …)

My friend and I were in Round Top overnight and I knew I had to have some pie before we left. We went into Royers Pie Haven and Dixie was just… ok, I have to say it… just as sweet as pie! I had their Junk Berry Pie — Yumm!!! I loved it so much that my friend & I each had to get their recipe box — now I can have Junk Berry Pie at home! If you are nearby — go! You won’t regret it!
