Little hole in the wall with great value. The food was very delicious and generously portioned. When I walked in, I was greeted by a sweet old lady who I assume was the owner. The inside is quite small and there aren’t that many seats but I love those types of places because it feels more intimate. I love to support mom and pop shops that do it the right way. The last time I came here, I ordered the fried pork with rice and salad. It was months ago yet I remember it tasting fantastic and getting treated really well. eee

Love their egg pancakes combo! Comes with a potato salad and a drink! I also tried their pork loin rice, it’s very delicious! The lady is also very nice! Definitely give it a try!

Came here for breakfast due to reviews, but after my visit I can’t even fathom how this place is so well rated. I’m not here to bash, but rather to share my experience and observations on my visit. My party of 2 was not noticed nor greeted upon entering, i had to make our presence known. And had to wonder why we weren’t brought a menu only to see we had to walk up and order before sitting down, food court style, in this restaurant. Food came about 40 mins later, had good presentation. The food looked a little too simple to make. Marinated some pork loin and grill up an egg and throw it between two slices of bread not toasted. It’s one of those foods where you feel like«it’s missing something.» The egg pancakes followed the same formula: 1. Meat of some sort 2. Egg 3. Something to wrap it with 4. Some sweet dressing(not the traditional soy sauce paste with julienned garlic) Overall, if you can cook chinese, you can make half the menu at home.

I ordered the egg pancake with pork and the chicken cutlet meal because the porkchop was sold out. The egg was very soft, it almost melts in your mouth. Everything was seasoned very well. The chicken meal came with a salad with seasame dressing and an egg roll. The chicken was fried to perfection. I would definitly come back to try their porkchop.

Came here for the first time for lunch with friends. The regular menu items were delicious and decently priced. The thing that grossed us out was the crispy pork knuckle. When we cut into it, it stated to emit a strong stinky odor. We knew it wasn’t fresh, and stopped eating it. When we asked for the check, the owner who is nice asked if we wanted to take it home. We told her no because it wasn’t fresh, paid and left. Don’t know if I’d go back again.

The only waitress there was a friendly old lady. Food there was fresh and tasty. It’s definitely not a typical Chinese/Taiwanese restaurants with ugly décor and dirty everywhere. Even the bathroom was very clean too. No water added in the hand soap. No cheapy toilet papers. They carry a Japanese name but the people work there are Taiwanese. Dish selections are various. It’s more a fusion place to me. I will definitely come back for the dishes I haven’t tried out today.

The décor is soooo cute! It’s a little small, giving it a more intimate atmosphere. The waitress, who may have been the owner, was a nice old lady who was very helpful and friendly. The food is also delicious and plated beautifully, but the portions are little small. This place is better for brunch or breakfast than lunch or dinner.

Chef/owner possess superb Asian/European fusion cooking skills, the simple fried chicken with rice set turns out juicy, crispy and unforgettable unique taste, I would argue that it is one of the best said dish I have tasted compare to other establishments. I respect the Chef’s dedication and hard work, thank you!

Definitely a very hidden mom and pop shop in Rowland Heights! Yes, the restaurant is not that big. Yes, the menu isn’t that extensive. Yes, it’s cash only. Yes, it’s a long wait for the food. YES, I’ve visited this place twice for breakfast and I’m definitely coming back. My go-to item at this place is their pork loin and egg sandwich combo. It’s amazing how nicely stacked together the sandwich is — thinly pork loin, fried egg and a tasty spread — making for a very satisfying bite after bite. I’m usually not that big of a sandwich person, but I find myself finishing this sandwich before I even realize it! The mashed potatoes that came with it tasted alright with the bits of ham in it — the sandwich definitely stole the show! A drink comes with the meal — I usually order their milk tea. It has a certain herbal taste to it that’s unusual of most milk tea that some people might not be accustomed to. I actually enjoy it quite bit because of how it is different from the norm. Orange juice can be substituted for those who want something different. At $ 6.50 with tax included, it’s definitely a good bargain. Definitely steer clear of the Pork Loin Garlic Pancake — the sauce that they put inside the pancake makes the entire exterior of the roll(the pancake part) soggy. The Pork Loin Garlic Pancake is essentially like a burrito with pork loin and eggs wrapped inside a roll. Stick with the sandwiches to be safe. Great service even though it can be slow since there’s not much people working there other than the old lady.

Quality chinese food at fast food price. I walked in for lunch and notice this place is so clean, and a elderly lady greets me and show me today’s special. She’s a little too friendly, talks a lot, but in a nice way. Food is fresh and quality of the food is superb and the best part my lunch and a drink only cost 10 bucks.

I hardly get inspired to write posts anymore. It’s not that I don’t eat out anymore in the burbs. It’s because it’s all just a bit lackluster. And the flavor a all kind of jumble together and nobody really stands out anymore. But wait! In to Maboroshi we go! I haven’t had an a-ha moment where I am reminded of Taiwan in a while, but this cute little café definitely takes me there. The breakfast sandwich might look like meat and egg slapped together with two slices of toast but one bite and it left us reminiscing our times in Taipei… The sauce flavor, the breaded meat, the egg. The«egg pancake» or dan-bing was delightful. It is definitely a different take on the classic with the egg being very fluffy and tamago-like. Sauce and a crispy outer layer instead of the usually chewy soft tortilla look it has at other breakfast spots. In the defunct plaza with big lots!

I went in the morning and ordered the pork loin and egg sandwich breakfast combo with milk tea(included) to go. The place was very clean, and empty when I walked in. When I took my first bite, I fell in love right away. The sandwich was perfect. It was simple(tender thin pork loin, pan fried egg, some kind of yummy spread, with soft white bread). The bread reminded of JJ’s but I could be wrong. The sandwich came with a side of delicious house made potato salad(asian style). The milk tea that came with my meal was perfect. It was sweet but not too sweet, rich enough, just the way I like it. My recommendation for this place would be to have some kind of paper that absorbs the moisture under the sandwich to make it less soggy for to go orders. Mine was fine since I ate it within a few minutes. CASH Only!!! Open for Breakfast and Lunch!

Love this place. This place is quite and comfortable. Great yummy fresh Taiwanese food with low price. They took a little bit long to get the food ready, but the food taste fabulous. After a short conversation with the lady, we were informed they only use good food ingredients to ensure the good quality of foods. The procedures are little complicated that make longer time to prepare. It was worth to wait. The food taste sooo good and we will definitely come visit again. One sad thing is they do not open for dinner, but this is a prefect place for brunch.

Nice and quiet in the morning, perfect place to get some morning reading done while enjoying some breakfast! Came here at 9:20 am and the chef was the only one working in the back. He didn’t see me until he peaked his head out 10 mins later. But all is good, as I was in no rush. Another worker came in later. I ordered the ham egg pancake and it was delicious! I’m not Taiwanese so I can’t say to its authenticity, but it sure was yummy! Will come again.

I finally visited this place… Tawainese food at it’s finest especially for breakfast! It reminds me of the days I went to Taiwan and having that egg pancake with pork. The service was bit odd, but you have to understand that this is Asian owned place. Without a doubt, there will be a language barrier, but until you become a more mature individual, then language barrier will mean nothing… The food is great, it’s cheap, and the ambiance is cute… This place needs to expand! Ambiance 4.7 Flavor 4.7 Presentation 4.7 Service 4.5 Price 4.8 Grade: 4.68

I was really craving for some good taiwanese food and taiwanese breakfast, so I came here hoping it’ll give me the fix I needed. Oh how wrong I was! The lady(I think owner or wife of the owner) seemed sweet and nice but a bit pushy and rude at the same time. To my surprise the menu items were severely limited. We got here around 12:10(you’ll see why I mentioned the time later). I ordered the ham, egg pancake meal — which comes with a scoop of potato salad and a drink. You can only get their milk tea as the drink(they got no other choices for you). My friend ordered the pork loin lunch meal(comes with the same side). 5 minutes go by and bam, the power is out(we had just ordered 5 min ago). We waited and waited, no one comes to tell us what happened. I asked the lady what happened and she said there was a short wiring or something and it had already happened the day before(but apparently not fixed), but that they can still serve food. About another 5 minutes go by another group of people came in and sat down, ordered. Then the waitress came over to us to change my friend’s order and wouldn’t stop pushing for him to get the sandwich. that basically all they can make now are sandwiches. After my food came out, every other plates from the other table came out as well(none of them ordered sandwiches but full blown meals). Somehow my friend’s sandwich didn’t come out until 12:55. All this time the power is still out. The waitress/owner gave no discounts no treats for all the inconvenience and not to mention the wait. Food taste was just okay, really didn’t get my fix on for Taiwanese food. Cash only. Would not return.

I had a «Ratatouille» moment. You know that scene where Anton Ego eats the ratatouille and he immediately gets sent back to his childhood days where his mum makes him home cooked ratatouille. Yeah. It was like that. Boyfriend and I both ordered an Egg Pancake 蛋餅(more so an Chinese Egg Omelette), one with Pork($ 4.25ish), one with Ham and one regular($ 3.50). The portions were pretty big, I couldn’t finish mine after I ate the regular egg one. But when I took my first bite, the flavors, the texture, everything just sent me back to when I was a kid and my grandmother would make these for my sister and I on the weekends watching morning cartoons. It was so nostalgic. It wasn’t gourmet food, just good olé’ home cooked goodness. Slightly crispy on the outside with full eggy goodness wrapped in ham to give it some savory flavor drizzled lightly in a sweet sauce giving it the perfect sweet and salty taste. There was no one in here when we came so we got the lady’s full attention, we were sat, our food was served promptly. She was a very nice person, although she didn’t speak a lick of English, so I’d suggest bringing that speaks Mandarin if you decide to come here.
