Chinese staff and chef trying to pass as a Japanese ramen place. Heavy handed on MSG, the shoyu ramen tasted more like miso/tonkotsu ramen. Only bright spot(and the +1 star) was the fried rice was good, guess the chef should’ve stuck to opening a Chinese place. Don’t go unless you like fake/unauthentic Japanese places.

Food: looks like a Chinese-run ramen place, the broth isn’t bad but definitely on the lower spectrum compare to other ramen place. It’s not the quality of food that ticked me off… Service: horrible. I walked in at 7:20pm on Sunday with only one customer in the store(should be a sign to walk away?). I had to walk to bar area to grab waitress to be seated. Had to wave to get my orders in, had to wave to get water fill, had to wave to get check. Come on, you are sitting there play your phone??? The chef was also playing phone and doesn’t seem to care about the restaurant at all.

The Ramen was great and it looked exactly on the menu. I like the saltly soup base, it is delicious! I don’t know why not so many people will come to this place though. The price is reasonable and not expensive at all. I will recommend this place if you want a good Ramen.

Went back a couple of weeks ago. The wife ordered the Kushiro ramen with tempura. I got the miso ramen with chashu. Taste as good as the previous visits. The chewy noodle has really good texture. When we ordered an extra one to go I noticed they also serve grilled Unagi over rice(presumably with Kabayaki sauce). I have seen grilled unagi over rice to be a very popular meal in Japan. I must try it in my next visit.

I would say food are great and worth a try! Service are below normal! And how they try to rip me off by telling us the special combo are only for mon — fri ONLY! And than suddenly just tell us that they cancel the combo for while, but they still have the combo LUNCHSPECIAL Fliers on the window next to the front doors! So for sure won’t come back!

Food: 4⁄5 stars. Kushiro ramen. Fish based. Broth has good flavor and is very light. That’s a good thing since I was afraid of stinky fish base. noodle was thick and chewy. A little more al dente would be my preference since it got a little soggy toward the end. 2 slices of chasiu that looked on the cold side and I had to warm them up by dipping it in the hot broth. The half soft egg was cooked perfectly but has no flavor. The fungus had no flavor. The overall taste was good but the details lacked flavor. Atmosphere: 4⁄5 stars. Clean. Comfortable. Sparsely decorated. One other customer sat at bar and I sat at a table. It was empty at 1:30pm. No major complaints. Service: 3⁄5 stars. The poster recommended 2 ramen: Kushiro and extra spicy miso. I wanted to try the Kushiro. The waiter explained that it was fish based and with a questionable face. So I decided to look at the menu but I was somehow confused by it. So I ordered the extra spicy instead. Guess what came out? Kushiro. Expense: 3.5÷5 stars. 8.75 plus tax. Not bad but a few more slices of meat would make it better. Return: 4⁄5 stars. Nothing wrong with this place. I would like try the other ramen. Over all average 3.75 stars and rounded up to 4 stars. I don’t understand the hates on many of the reviews. Give them a try.

Cash only — this is a Chinese ramen shop. The service is very mediocre with things like not refilling water, forgetting things, and just not attentive… My dad got the veggie ramen with extra noodles. I got the seafood ramen. One plus is that they give legit portions of seafood with 2 big pieces of shrimp, mussel, baby clams, and some veggies. I was satisfied with that. Overall the soup base is whatever nothing to write home about. The noodles are chewy so that was good! Probably won’t come back since it’s just ok.

I came here three times and all three times differ in regards to both service and ramen quality despite ordering the same meal three times. First try: The first time we came we were properly greeted and seated by the waitress. The only complaint I had on that day was that when she gave us cold tea, I asked for ice water and instead of getting me what I ordered, she said that the tea had ice in it and my friend had to ask her to get it anyways for me because I was still in shock that she felt that she had the authority of what my preferences were. She eventually got it for me anyways and then it was ramen time. It was decent and I liked the noodle texture, but there wasn’t much taste. I had to dunk tons of chili flakes in order to taste anything. Second try: A different waitress was working here. Decent service and decent ramen. My parents — both whom are quite picky — enjoyed it deeply which was impressive. They were both excited to come back. However, neither of them ordered meat to go with their ramen and the chashu I ordered was very chewy and lacked flavor. The broth and ramen was a lot better and tasted good. Third try: Worst ramen + worst service all in one. When we came in, we sat down and waited for God knows how long. Not one staff was present and my dad had to greet the staff who were in the kitchen just for them to acknowledge us. I guess it was because it was close to closing time but we arrived before it closed so unless it is actually closing time I suggest the staff members continue to work and be aware of potential customers up until the actual closing time. It was very unprofessional. It shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility to greet the staff members to get service. Anyways, the only other complaint I have with the service that day was that we didn’t get our drinks until we asked for it the second time. The ramen itself wasn’t my favorite because the broth was extremely salty. However, the meat was actually tender and flavorful. This place would have gotten at least 3 stars if the ramen had both good meat AND good broth plus better customer service. Not once did either waitresses smile at us throughout the entire dining experience and definitely lacked in attention skills.

1.5, rounded up. Cash only. Glad to see sign outside or we wouldn’t have known. Bf ordered the soy pork ramen and spicy tuna roll. After he ordered the server said, «only one noodle?» Um heffer. I haven’t ordered. I got the spicy miso pork ramen. Taste:everything was bland. Down to the soup. It was salty but no really taste behind it especially if it’s supposed to have that tonkatsu flavor. Pork was bland. Egg yolk was soft but bland. Bleh. Water does taste funny. We suspect the ice maker holds other things. Get the Complementary green tea instead. Food is definitely deserving of a one star review, the service bumped up the rating. Overall, skip there are way better places to spend your lunch money.

Came here for lunch just to see what has changed from the previous other places. I noticed a lot of «5» star reviews for this place, however… Let’s get real with this place: The tables and chairs are such an awkward pairing since they went for the long, family style«split log» tables. The two shorter ones use regular chairs instead of the benches so you can’t really sit crossing your legs. If you are tall, just ask to sit at the regular tables or the bar instead. The service is a little slow and awkward, they clearly are not Japanese so it’s more of a chinese owned Japanese restaurant.(Clearly shown by the number of Chinese 5 star friend-reviews we have for this place) The menu is simple with your choice of broth and topping and the price is reasonable since you get fair amount of noodles. Broth — since this is Hokkaido style, the broth is lighter than those of daikokua or shinsengumi, however it was a little too«msg» like for me and no depth of flavor, it was very much water+msg+hint of broth Noodles — they use the thick egg style wavy noodle here, they were a bit soft vs chewy Topping — half a soft boiled egg, seaweed, fungus(it was sweet, a bit weird), bamboo shoot and chashu-soft, tender and good serving Overall– I feel like eating this ramen is like eating a ramen soup packet with fresher noodles. Also, they didn’t have any fried rice or gyoza when I wanted to order it?!? It is a bit concerning since their menu is not so varied where it would be so hard to keep track of what’s in stock. Some management issues there. The awkwardness of not having the basic items in stock plus the«sun ramen”-like packaged noodles is a bit blah for a return.

Fyi, cash only. Im a big fan of japanese noodles. the broth could use a little more salt. The noodles were made the way i like them. The bowl looks small but suprisingly, it holds more than it looks. They gave more than i thought, and thats a good thing. The waitress was nice and provided good attention to our table. Décor is japanese style for sure. Lastly, they gave us a coupon for free mochi ice cream next meal. Ill be coming back for sure.

Before dinnertime, my roommate and I were craving ramen and we decided to give this a place a try. Upon arriving, the people around the front door gave the façade of a long wait line only to realize that people are actually waiting for the restaurant next to it. When we entered, there was only two other guests sitting at the counter. We looked at the only server standing next to the bar table and she hasn’t notice new people standing at the door. My roommate had to call out for attention and we got seated. The menu was really simple with a handful of selection but caused a little confusion. The ramen came out hot, ramen noodle was well cooked and balance. The soup base was a little salty for my preference but I believe it is to Hokkaido standards. I had ordered the chashu and that was just alright. Since sitting at the table and until we left, we never got water. The server never came and check back on us until we asked for the check. If it the noodles were unacceptable, I would have given 1 less star.

1. Taste: The noddles tasted alright. The pork is too dried and too much lean. The soup has not been slow cooked for long time(I would say MSG soup) Tuna roll, the rice is dried already, and it is not sushi rice No good. The sauce for the sushi is very terrible. 1 star 2. Service: when my wife and I first stepped in the waitress was playing her phone I believe. We were not offer any services, I got to scream out, in order to get services(there was NO customers here at all) 2 star 3. Hygiene: typical Japanese ramen restaurant. Tables are free of grease all the utensils are very clean 5 star. 4. Environment: dark flooring, tables, chairs 4

$ 8.95 lunch special includes a big bowl of delicious ramen and 4 generous pieces of sushi. I picked the spicy tuna. I’ve been to many ramen noodle places and I really enjoyed this place. It’s very new but the chief is an authentic Japanese guy and the waitress was very attentive, polite and took the time to give suggestions. I picked the miso based with pork. I noticed right away how great the quality was. There was 4 thick slices of pork, a hand full of bamboo shoots, seaweed and a heaping pile of noodles. The noodles were cooked perfectly and all the ingredients taste amazing. What really sold me was the soup base as you can see little pieces of meat in it. The sushi was great too except the noodles were so delicious and filling that I almost couldn’t finish them! Overall I love going to new establishments and trying out their food. This place has great rame. and I would definitely come back and recommend it to friends and family.

I recommend everyone getting the spicy miso ramen and it has a good balance of soup broth taste and amazing ramen texture. The meat on the other hand was lacking flavor and texture. It feels like they don’t put the effort on making it good. Also wish they put more condiments on the spicy ramen. Service is amazing and very kind and responsive. My mom and i were the only ones eating the whole time. Would definitely come here again with more people and try the extra spicy ramen next time.

The only reason this place gets one star is because Unilocal doesn’t let reviewers give zero For the way the ramen tastes, you would think they would give better service. The restaurant is not too big or too small, so we came with a group is 7 and sat comfortably at a table. There was only a letter party of 3 at another big table next to us. When we were ready to order, we wanted to order the lunch special however the server informed us that it’s for weekdays only. Maybe you should put that in your menu? Also, she stated that they are too busy on the weekends to give the lunch special yet there was nobody else in the restaurant. Everything was okay after we received our food until we received the bill. Our friend’s mother missed the cash only sign and wanted to pay with card and the second server informed us it is cash only. So as our friend’s began to prepare the cash, our original server came to our table, slammed her hand on the credit card and said in an extremely rude tone, «it’s cash only!» Okay seriously what is your problem? The cash is lying right there on the table in front of you, there is no need for the rude attitude and physical demeanor. Also, tip was accidentally counted wrong and the server who rudely slapped our table came up and asked«how much are you leaving for tip/where is the tip?» Having worked in the restaurant industry for several years, I understand how much tip means. However when you give bad service you should t expect to receive good tip. This server had no right to stop us to demand more tip for her rude attitude. Of all the ramen places I’ve been to, this has to be one of the worst. I wouldn’t be surprised if this restaurant closes soon. Management needs to get their customer service in check if they want to succeed.

my favorite ramen shop was closed. this was the next best thing. it didn’t compare. what i ate: — tonkotsu miso ramen: eh. which there was nothing horrible about this ramen, there wasnt anything exceptionally awesome about it either. it was just a very mediocre bowl of ramen. also, i HATED the chashu. it was cold, and the fat had congealed, as if the pork had been sitting in the fridge, pre-sliced and popped onto the ramen before it came out to me. i did like the mushrooms, and the soft boiled egg was cooked well. i just didnt like this ramen pros: — service was nice… though it was lunch time on a monday and i was the ONLY patron. — price was right — plenty of parking in the lot — randomly, i really liked the wood tables. cons: — chashu was not yummy — they were not japanese! am i being racist? i think the best ramen comes from lil japanese men. they were chinese. i’ve lived in rowland heights long enough to know what mandarin sounds like. — chinese parking lot, mean chinese drivers, meaning shitty parking jobs. just fyi. would i come again? NO.

I saw this place the other day and wanted to check it out. I think calling it ‘authentic’ and Hokkaido is a bit deceiving. I ordered the miso ramen. The noodles had decent chew and bounce, but that was about the only good thing about the dish. There was a ton of msg in the broth, which you don’t notice until after you leave and you have this need to drink a gallon of water. Speaking of water, that also describes both the consistency and flavor of the broth. Very diluted, and even if that’s the way it’s supposed to be, I should be able to pick up something. It was very flat and one dimensional. Service was okay. I didn’t notice the funky water smell some of the other reviews had mentioned. I can’t say I am motivated to return to give this another shot.

Came here for lunch today. It’s in a good location, next to the hk supermarket and Supreme Dragon. They have a simple menu, ramen, a rice dish, and some pickled sides. No tempura or sushi menu. I ordered the tonkotsu ship ramen with chasau as they had no tempura available. My friend got the same but with chicken. When the bowl came, initially, I felt that it seemed a little small for the price but it turned out to be just right for me. The broth was tasty but thinner than other tonkotsu broth from nearby ramen shops. The chasau was good, the chicken okay. My egg was cold on the inside on the initial bite. The noodles were of just the right consistency and chewiness. For the lunch special, you also get a small order of either a roll(4 pieces) or gyoza, or a chasau bun. I ordered the spicy tuna and my friend the crab roll. He said that the crab roll was ok. The spicy tuna roll for me was a bit off. I still ate it but I felt that the quality of the fish didn’t appear that fresh and it did taste slightly funny. So 2 orders of lunch special with tax: $ 20 Side note, water taste funky. Chef does speak Japanese.
