Came here with the boyfriend for dinner because four season steak house and simbala closed early due to Chinese New Year’s Eve. So we got tired of looking for a place and decided to give it a try. The decoration is cute and chic. Not typical for a Chinese café so I’m a bit impressed. Love their egg dessert and I’m extremely sad that they closed now because now I can’t have anymore of it):

This was my first time here and it was horrible. I ordered their noodles and it was expensive for what seems to me like cup of noodles. There wasn’t any flavor. The soup was just full of salt!!! It was disgusting. In addition, what was worse was that when it got served to me, it was not even hot at all! Seriously… its not worth spending your money on. The hello kitty pastry things is not even that good. There’s so much bread and not enough filling and the bread is pretty dry. I will never come here again.

I came here to meet up with a friend and I ordered the French rose milk tea and shared the egg cakes that everyone’s been talking about! The egg cakes come with a side of condensed milk. It tastes good but it’s pretty much bread. The drink was pretty good too, but I think it would taste better with boba! The service was really poor, we waited like 30 – 40 minutes for our food The décor isn’t as cute as everyone says it is but I do like the chair and booths, the rest of the decorations doesn’t match because its like Chinese decorations colliding with American decorations

I was lured into this oasis by the cute photos of the sanrio character egg cakes. Taste-wise they were just ok. Then again egg cakes are never all that exciting. I also ordered the yogurt drink expecting something cloudy in color with a bit of a yogurt flavor. The drink was clear! No yogurt! It was like an italian sode without the carbonation. What I asked«What is this??» They said it was the yogurt drink. I’m sure if they use a clear«syrup» for yogurt flavor. It definitely didn’t taste like any kind of yogurt to me. I’m still skeptical that they missed an ingredient. o_O My friend Rose had the lavender early grey which was really good. If I should ever find myself here again that is what I would order. My friend Casey ordered her usual almond milk tea which she felt was was just so-so. Phoenix is better. Décor here was gosh darn cute. Too bad their egg cake and drinks weren’t on par.

Annoyingly slow service. The waitress explained that since we had two orders of lamb chops, it would take double the time to make. This ended up to be 40 minutes! Double the time? Are they roasting these individually in toaster ovens? Also couldn’t believe it, but one of my lamb chops came all cut up. The cook had to cut it to see if it was done! Also, the food was kind of gross. All the veggies and the lamb chops were drowning in vinaigrette. I don’t get it, there was no salad on the plate, why put vinaigrette over everything? Gross.

I came here for lunch today since Simbala was closed. I ordered a 3 cup chicken with rice, which is the lunch special, as well as a green milk tea. Honestly, it is a very cute café, with cute décor and Olivia Ong songs playing the background. The food was ehhh… definitely not great but not too bad either. The chicken had more bones in it than rice, and it took me a good half hour just spitting out chicken bones. Also, they had fries to go along with it. Now, that is freakin odd. I love Taiwanese food, and I love fries, but not together. The menu is a bit tricky, it says $ 6.99, but«and up» in really small letters. And only 1 item on the lunch menu is $ 6.99, so be careful. The milk green tea was really really gross, usually the milk and the green tea would blend together in a drink, but this one, you can really taste the milk and the gree tea separately. Hope that makes sense. Anywho, I will not be back since the food is definitely not worth the price. And the young girl who is serving is awfully creepy, since she just seems wayyy too polite. Made me feel awkward.

I am pretty disappointed with my experience here last night. My friend suggested this place for dinner and when I walked in around dinner time I thought it was strange that there was no one else eating in the restaurant except us. Even after our prolonged two hour dinner there was only two pickup orders and no other customers. After my dinner experience here I can understand why. First off the décor was nice and I enjoyed sitting on the comfy plush purple chairs. Being an avid Unilocaler I had looked up recommendations prior to coming and decided on the Earl’s Grey milk tea with boba and Baked Chili Chicken. Although when I placed my order the waitress had no idea what chicken dish i was referring to. She even asked another person working there and they had no idea what I was talking about. So then I proceeded in ordering the chicken filet combo that came with rice and three small side dishes of veggies. My friend ordered vegetable pasta with tomato sauce. Since we were the only customers in the restaurant I figured the food would come pretty quickly. Well I was wrong, it took 30 – 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My friend’s order came out before mine and she was pretty much done with her meal before mine even arrived. What was even more disappointing was that our food was incredibly bland and not flavorful in any way. I looked on the counter and they had almost every kind of sauce imaginable(A1, Tobasco, Parmesan cheese, etc) so I guess they knew the food they serve is pretty bland? After our meal I decided to order their famous cartoon character egg cakes. I grew up in Taiwan eating this stuff so I couldn’t walk away without ordering it. Our waitress told us it would take 10 – 15 minutes to make, but the wait was closer to 30 minutes. I was pretty upset with all the waiting at this point and when the food arrived I didn’t even think it was that great. I actually took the leftovers home and popped them back in my oven because they were a little under cooked and wasn’t served as hot as I liked them to be. I probably won’t be coming back here any time soon. I was not impressed with my food in any way. I wish Dolphin Bay was still in business. They had some really great rice dishes that I’m sure going to miss! *Note this place is CASHONLY

The service here is really wonderful. The waitress here is super sweet! I only stopped by to to-go some egg cakes but they were still very attentive to my needs asking if I’d like a glass of water while I wait. Their egg cakes are so adorable and delicious! Best egg cakes I’ve had to date! The décor was clean and simple, not mention those big purple chairs were amazing on sit on.

Warning: CASHONLY. Found this café on Unilocal,I used to dine here with my cousin when it used to be a restaurant years & years ago so it was nice coming back. Very cute décor! ^.^ Egg cakes($ 3.50) — Freaking cute or what? Although they seem a little burnt, LOL. Served with condensed milk, they don’t taste as great as they look but they’re cute to look at. Popcorn chicken — Okay, I don’t get it. how can you possibly screw up popcorn chicken? It didn’t taste like popcorn chicken. In fact, it was the WORST I’ve ever had. The batter. The«chicken.» It frustrates me just thinking about it, SOMOVINGON . Peach sawa — No comment because I can’t remember if I liked it or not, but I remember it was sour? Was also wondering why there was a lemon in it, I would expect peach? Sorry, this is one place I wouldn’t come back to.

Came here on a Tuesday night, no crowd. Only tried their egg cakes but definitely one of the best in the area! Fluffy, adorable, and delicious. One thing notable about the café is the interior design. Very modernized look. Be excited to sit on their comfy purple chairs(best part of the café)!

I came here with my friends and we were seated right away. The restaurant was empty when we were there for lunch. The waiter wasn’t too attentive even we were the only table there. Drinks: Paris Strawberry Milk-2 stars Coffee with ice cream– 2 stars HK Style Milk Tea-2 stars Green Milk Tea-2 stars Drinks were soso there, you can definitely get better drinks around the area. Food: Egg Cakes– 4 stars(one of a couple things i think it’s good here) French Style Toast with Creamy Chicken Soup– 4 stars Chicken Sizzling Ceramic– 2 stars Beef Sizzling Ceramic– 2 stars Claim Pasta in Garlic Sauce-2 stars Fried Fish Pasta in Garlic Sauce-2 stars Food weren’t that great either. Both of the pasta were lacking flavors. Also, they were having pretty bad typo on their menu. They had pork as beef; chicken as pork; beef as chicken shown in both Chinese and English. We got very confused when we were looking at the menu and also placing the orders. Both my bf and my friend ordered their Sizzling Ceramic set. They were expecting some kind of steaks and it turned out to be hotpots. We were shocked and it was totally unexpected. Since the menu said«Sizzling», we were thinking it should be some kind of steaks on flat iron but we were totally off. The meats for the hotpots were dry and rough. They gave a big portion but the qualities were bad. My friends ended up only finish 1⁄3 of them and we didn’t even bother to pack the left over to-go. We went on April 1st, we were not sure if we just got April fooled. –_-”

A large menu of items, fluffy purple seating, and a lounge-like atmosphere help Stone Age Café stand out from many other Chinese«cafes» in the Rowland area. I had the rice burger w/black pepper beef… I’ve had similar types of burgers in Asia and while I think it’s a bit unfair of me to compare those burgers to the ones Stone Age Café serves, I have to say the rice burgers for Stone Age veer a bit too much on the sticky side in comparison. A positive however, is that the sandwich is fairly filling and has a good value at 5 bucks. This place also has a lot of options for drinks… I had a calpis/strawberry syrup drink that was as sweet and fizzy as it sounded like it should be. The egg cakes were a bit dry though. As for service? It was pretty darn good… we had a friendly server who kept checking back on us. Overall, I would definitely come back to try other things here or even hang out… perhaps my opinion will change!

I was brought here by Jessica M. because of their infamous egg cakes. And I must say, they are pretty cute. Plus I got a PIKACHU Egg cake. That alone deserves an extra star. The food here was decent but came out a little slow for me. Maybe it was because I was hungry I don’ know but I would have liked the food sooner. The dishes we ordered didn’t seem like it’d take that long to make. Oh well. The environment gives a clean and relaxing feel to eating there. Super comfy chairs. Although this place is a little small, it didn’t seem to get packed, I don’t know why. The star of the meal were definitely the egg cakes. They did look delicious and definitely were cute to eat. I defeated Pikachu. ha ha. All jokes aside, I liked the place and the waitress was nice enough to give us extra condense milk for the egg cake when we ran out. They also decorate it with chocolate i believe to make it look nice. Thats a plus in my books for going the extra mile. I’d come back when i’m in socal just for the egg cakes, so if you ever try this place out, don’t forge to order it!

HELLOKITTYEGGCAKES! Enough to bring me back. Sorry for not remembering all the price this time, Unilocalers. :( Egg cakes($ 3.50): There was 5 cakes, one being Hello Kitty! Put Hello Kitty on anything and you’ll have a mob of girls! They don’t look as big as the pictures but nevertheless, still get a good amount for the price. It comes with condensed milk. Curry fried squid balls($ 3.25?): It doesn’t come in a skewer. Squid balls are cut in half. It was quite a big portion for the price, as well. Boyfriend and i loved it. Not oily and not over-flavored like other places can be. Beef Spaghetti with Garlic Basil Sauce: I really liked how they have choices of sauce for you, because I do not like marinara or tomato sauce on my spaghetti. It wasn’t spectacular but it wasn’t bad. It was worth trying. Nothing you would see on the menu of other cafes, for sure. Fried Rice(I forgot which one): There’s two kinds of fried rice. The ones where it’s crispy and the lumpy one. They have the lumpy one. It was pretty good. It had a lot of diced bell peppers. I’m not the biggest fan of fried rice but my boyfriend is and he liked it. Peach Sawa drink: Try it. On weekdays, they have a buy 2 get 1 free special. Don’t expect great service. the girls don’t seem to know what they are doing half the time. They forget what you ordered and forget which table ordered what. Check every now and then to make sure your order was put in correctly. Overall, it is just okay.

First review! It was such a bad experience, I just had to write about it. I came because I wanted to try the famous egg cakes. it is nothing to get excited over about. It is dense, lacks any buttery flavor, and came out cold. Not to mention, the main dish(clam wine sauce pasta) was very mediocre. The pasta was firm, the sauce was bland, and I counted maybe 3 clams on my entire plate. They are down to 1 star and I haven’t even started on the décor! It is extremely bright inside. lavish purple couches, however, the table is set so high that it is uncomfortable to eat and sit at the same time. Seems like everyone knows each other because the place is so small(and everyone got served before us too!) PS. The wait time for food was 30 minutes but it felt like an hour.

I was pretty stoked to find out that the new restaurant that opened up in Dolphin Bay’s place was a pasta place. Since the now defunct Pasta Bar in San Gabriel has come and gone(5.5 years and counting, RIP), I’ve been looking for a similar inexpensive pasta place to replace the hole left in my heart. The place inside is very cute, although not very comfortable. They have these plush purple chairs with really high white tables. If I were short I would feel a bit uncomfortable, but maybe it’s like they say beauty is pain? Not when I’m eating though! It’s definitely a cute spot for a first date. The menu boasts a lot of «creamy» options. From the pasta sauces to their huge variety of milk teas this place is cream city. Since I was dining with my unadventurous dad, I ordered the seafood pasta with the garlic cream sauce. I was astonished to find the sauce had a lot of depth and flavor and the noodles to be perfectly al-dente. I couldn’t get over how great the sauce was. The portion was just right given the flavor of the sauce and I was full in no time off the flavor. My only qualm is that for the price that you pay, they really should give you more seafood! In my dish I found maybe, 1 piece of shrimp, 3 pieces of squid and a clam. Really? That’s it??? My dad had the basil garlic sauce. The sauce was great — again rich, lots of flavor and depth. However his chicken(he got the chicken pasta) was seriously lacking. Since the place just opened I’m sure their working out their kinks. Service was quite attentive and they did seem to have a flow of people coming in. I’ll definitely be back to try the other menu items and the milk teas. I can see this place becoming a 4-star place in my books if they wouldn’t skimp so much on the meat. The sauce and the pasta are definitely special — they are well-prepared and tasty, but I don’t feel that justifying the fact that there’s not enough meat.(I must sound like a carnivore, but really, I shouldn’t feel like I’m eating all noodles and sauce!).

So this is the place that replaced Dbay eh? Def very modern and quaint to say the least in a great attempt to bring an upscale café dining experience at an affordable price and atmosphere. Servers were friendly and quick and the daily special is def. worth the price! $ 6.50 for a full dish, a generous portion of gourmet soup, and your choice of tea of course. What really impressed me was not only the décor, but the choice of plates and bowls along with the presentation of the food was at the level you would expect from a fine dining restaurant. It was obvious the owner put some effort into this: p the only gripe would be the seating, though the chairs are very comfortable, you’ll be left with feeling short even if you’re 6ft tall! Not a bad place for a quick bite and nice enough to bring a grl on a date or for a family dinner. Will def be back later!

Stone Age — such a twisty name for a modern semi-minimalist color palette and vinyl doll obsession tea hang out place. Came here on a Saturday around 10:45PM and the place was empty; maybe just one other group besides us, possibly still a new place? The staff were SO friendly, greeted and seated right away. The guy told me that the kitchen is already close for food, but we can still order egg cake. I was like, what the… then he mentioned«Hello Kitty» SOLD! Just gotta have and see ‘em. He also made some recommendations for our drinks. -//CASH ONLY! -//To be honest, their Earl Grey milk frost & StoneAge milktea tasted just okay. -//Egg cake tasted okay also, but the MEGACUTENESS made it all better(taste similar to taiyaki without fillings). **– PLEASECHECKOUTTHEPICTUREANDYOU’LLUNDERSTAND –** Chris C. kept his cool and probably was embarrassed because I took many pictures, but he didn’t eat the Hello Kitty’s head because he’s so sensitive deep inside. Aww~ Décor wise, this will be one of THE nicest hang out tea place(instead of Ten Ren, Boba Time, or Tea Bar’s décor — which is nothing compare to this one. It doesn’t take a real designer to figure this one out — again, not talking about the tea or food, just the décor). Perhaps this review is a little bit bias because I’m totally judging on the cuteness level of the place and the egg cakes, but come on! give your fellow designer some credit! The drinks and egg cakes probably and honestly worth 3 stars. Worth checking out though, the semi minimalist — modern ambiance with a touch of mega egg cake cuteness. Will come back for more cuteness and perhaps the food this time(and other drinks, hopefully better). ^____^ v (sorry, just HAD to do that smiley face, totally proper for this review)

I would give this place a 3.5 star. Food is decently good. Yummy Drinks, and REALLY cute yummy egg cakes :) The décor is really pretty and comfy looking. So you begin by putting your order on a check list that they give you. Pictures of the food you’re ordering are not given to you, so you’ll just have to hope it tastes and looks good, or ask the waitress what’s in your food i guess. Service was meh. Food took a while to come out, even though the place was pretty empty with the exception of 2 other tables occupied. You would think that drinks are the first things to come out first, RIGHT? nope. It comes out as it’s being made. Food: –Fish fillet combo was pretty good, comes with 5 pieces of fried, breaded fish, rice and 4 sides. –Baked chili chicken combo was the same, came with 3 pieces of chicken, bowl of rice and sides. –Garlic chicken wings. less than $ 5, comes with 5 big pieces of chicken wing. Made kinda like HK café styled. it was yummy and got me quite full and satisfied. –Egg cakes come in super cute character shapes. ~$ 3 will get you 5 egg cakes! They have hello kittys, pandas, bunnies, and kerropis. so cute! the cake itself is soft and has just the right amount of vanilla taste to it. It reminds me of Chinese hot cakes, except this place doesnt have any fillings(like red bean, or custard) in it. Drinks: –Honey Milk tea was refreshing and has nice green tea flavor to it. $ 3.50 for the medium. –Almond milk tea reminds me of Ten Ren’s almond milk tea. $ 3.50 for the medium. I ordered pudding with my drink(additional $ 0.50) but they gave me my drink without it and when I asked them to add it in, they came back telling me they didn’t have pudding today :(BOO. overall an okay place. its a nice chill place.
