Everyone gave this place such good reviews and now it’s closed. Let this be a lesson to you. What you got here was NOT good barbecue. Most people saw it for what it was and now it’s closed. Go get real bbq at any number of other places still in business.

You have to walk around the smoke pit to get in the place. Great smells in the air are rewarded with fresh BBQ, homemade sides, and from-scratch sauces. The brisket sandwich with a side of beans and a drink was an excellent deal at $ 6. The blackberry sauce was fantastic and adds to the smokey goodness. They aren’t easy to find. Buried in the middle of an industrial park but well worth the effort of finding them.

Amazing barbecue! Really enjoyed the ribs and sausage. Green beans and sweet potatoes were fantastic sides and the iced tea was brewed the way iced tea should be. To hell with Dickey’s and Woody’s chain barbecue — support local and get AMAZING barbecue here.

Overall the food was good. The brisket was my favorite. Ribs were good. Ordered a slab and the end pieces you couldn’t eat to dry. The sausage was not good at all. It’s a chicken sausage wrapped in cornhusks. I tried a couple different pieces and none of them had flavor. Coleslaw is a vinegar base which I like, not a heavy mayonnaise base like most. If you don’t like this type you won’t like it. The beans were disappointing. Sauces were different but good. Overall I would go back avoiding those items I didn’t care for. To give this rating something you can compare it to Famous Dave’s is a 0 to 1 on a good day in my book.

Great bbq! Had a prime rib sandwich and slathered it with the spicy chipotle(one of the best bbq sauces I’ve had.

Finally decided to head over here after driving by a few times. It is a little tricky to find as it is towards the back of a stripmall type complex. The place is super small with only about 5 or 6 tables. I had the two meat plate with the pulled pork and chicken. The meat was good, but the spicy chipotle sauce really was excellent. I will be going back. It may be a great option for takeout as well.

Ohman. Desert Magnolia is a hidden gem of the ogden area. Run by a husband and wife team in an odd location, they keep it real with fresh from scratch food and damn good bbq. Sauces of all kinds on the sauce bar, any meat you could want, and delicious sides… desert magnolia is just plain awesome. The prices are reasonable and downright awesome for their specials. The only downside is that they are currently in winter hours, so I can’t stop in maybe as often as I would like. I can’t think of any other negative, really!

Apparently, they have changed their hours. We went there today(Wednesday) and they were closed. The sign said they were only open on Thurs, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 till 7:00. They need better signage. It is very difficult to find.

i don’t say this often(I have only said it once before) but i got BBQ drunk off this place. BBQDRUNK! When i walked in the first thing I noticed was the amazing tables. Brad, the owner, built the tables himself as well as put together the interior décor. The window you order from looks like a rustic barn and the whole place is drenched with the smell of BBQ. After oohing and ahhing over the different sauces and smells of meat i sat down to order. Of course I couldn’t decide what to order so I asked for a sample plate of all their meats with sweet potatoes, collard greens and corn bread. After a short wait my food came out and I slathered it in their house made blackberry BBQ sauce. It was food heaven, food bliss, food nirvana! It has been so long since I have had real home cooked southern smoked BBQ and boy have I missed it. After the first bite I knew that I was heading down a dangerous road of BBQ addiction. The flavors are so rich and the meat is so tender you don’t even need a knife. But, you don’t need to go to the restaurant to try them out, they also do catering and BBQ competitions with the Utah BBQ association. If you need my services i will happily be a tasting judge… guys…ill work for free!

I really liked the place. I had heard many good things and I had to visit. I’m happy to have another option in the Ogden area outside of the ‘chain’ type places. The owners are extremely nice and they enjoy what they do. I had heard people talk about some of the amazing sauces and food. I went and grabbed a few things to try, a full rack 19.00 plus a couple pulled pork sandwiches and their special that day was smoked meatloaf with a sausage in it. The rack was great and I think I liked the white vinegar sauce best. The sandwiches were very good :) but I found the meatloaf a little on the dry side but that may have been because it was prepared earlier in the day. I will return and I think every BBQ lover should visit and give it a try too. I hope the success contiues.

Hard to find, hard to beat. I found Desert Magnolia on facebook and decided to try them out since they are less than a mile from my work. I have now tried nearly everything on the menu. Favorites are the meatloaf, nachos, and stuffed peppers. The owners do a good job of updating their twitter feed to show the special of the day, and they offer a good mix of odd food and good down home bbq. If the bbq is good, the sauces are amazing. The blackberry sauce and carolina mustard are both good on everything, and don’t forget to ask for some habanero sauce if you are brave enough. I am a regular, and this place is great.
