I had a couple rolls here that we’re outta the park good! Tom yum was ok, and the Pad Prix was delicious! If I’m in the neighborhood I’d go back!

Favorite sushi place in Royal Oak! Dining in or carrying out, the quality is always the same — excellent. The setting is always calm and quiet; I’ve never had to wait to be seated. My favorite is their miso soup. The ingredients are clearly fresh; always tasty.

I’m not sure why this place only has 3 stars. As a sushi lover I am always impressed with the variety and freshness of the fish. Maybe people have been disappointed with other dishes they make, I don’t know. If you know anything about sushi you’ll like this place, they carry Natto, Uni, King Salmon, hamachi toro, etc; everyday. I think this place is worthy of at least a 4 star rating on Unilocal

Little Tree was my first Sushi experience over 10 years ago. Sadly, the quality of both the establishment and the food has gone down considerably. The place was dirty, our waitress was horrible, and the sushi was not good on my last visit. Taking this one off my list.

This place is awesome. The sushi chefs are cool and joke around with you, which I like… so funny in fact that they gave me fermented soy beans to try… not too bad if you like the taste of coffee and corpse, yuck. However, the Uni in huge portions and the Eel are the best I’ve eaten and I have lived on the ocean and not tasted better. I’m not a fan of bearded hipsters, so I had to look through the sea of homeless looking beards, Ray bans, fishing hats and waist size 28 Levis to see the true beauty of the sushi bar, not a bad price to pay for great food. Love it!

I have been disappointed here too many times. Sushi is 3 maybe 4 stars. Service is 3 stars. And management is negative 5 stars with both hands raised(bald guy, I’m speaking to you). If you want great sushi go to Noble fish. If you want great service go to Ronin. This place will get weeded out like its sister restaurant.

Such a sad day. I’ll never return to Little Tree. Our bartender was horrible. She couldn’t care less that she messed up my order.(I know, it happens) BUT say sorry at least! It also seemed like we ruined her day by coming in. And I was completely astounded that a manager never came over… Really???

Sushi always good as usual. Ive been going here for years and never try the main courses, but the best sushi around. They are opening a country bar next door since they closed katanas doors, same owners. Can’t wait to visit!

The boyfriend treated our 6 yr old daughter and I to a sushi date here last night, and I’m beyond impressed! The daughter is generally picky with food, but she loved the edamame, peeled it all herself! She was thrilled when our server, Autumn, brought her«children’s» chopsticks and she was able to eat like mama & daddy. So, the sushi… AMAZING!!! They do NOT skimp on the portions of the fish at all, and every piece we ordered was perfection. My favorite, the Eel, was here, the best I’ve had anywhere. We’re huge Uni fans-they had it! And it was the freshest Uni I’ve ever tasted. We sat at the sushi bar-our preferred seating at any sushi place, and the chefs were great to talk to. The chefs had us try a piece of Natto(fermented soybeans), since we’d never had it before, and it was a great experience. There’s a reason this place is always packed– their food and service is top-notch. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

The sushi and miso exceeded my expectations — so very fresh and flavorful! Our waitress was a bit awkward– a nice place like this id like to see the waitstaff more confident and suave! Décor was nice, I liked drawing on the paper laid over the tables. However, the radio station playing really killed the experience for me– it destroyed the authentic vibe this place would have otherwise had. Whiney sentimental singer songwriter tunes blaring directly over my head was a big turn off.

First let me say how nice our waiter was, but I ordered the wrong thing once I got my creamy seafood dish(I forgot the name of what I order but it’s in the photo I post). The sauce was really good but the seafood overpowered it, now if it was with chicken it would have been great. I would go back to this restaurant.

Little Tree is perfect for affordable, basic sushi. My favorite menu item is the teriyaki beef. It is about the quality of a strip steak and served with white rice and steamed vegetables for $ 12, which you can’t beat. I have also had the tempura california which is 100x better than Ronin’s version and the avocado rolls. The atmosphere is very casual and there is rarely a wait. I used to really prefer Ronin because of the freshness and quality, but in the last year Ronin has declined while Little Tree remains consistent.

Seems like all of the rolls here are either(1) a single ingredient(e.g., tuna, spicy tuna, salmon skin); or(2) five ingredients PLUS that spicy mayo shit. They need some more options in the middle. If you have too many of the special rolls, you’ll leave feeling kind of gross. That said, of the other sushi restaurants in RO and Ferndale, this one has the comfiest atmosphere. It makes up for the(somewhat) slow service, because you’re content to just chill in a very pleasant, low-lit atmosphere that isn’t too loud or too quiet. Plus, unlike Ronin, this place is actually affordable. And there’s beer. I like going here, but it always disappoints just a litttttle bit. (I have no experience with the large, non-sushi part of the menu.)

Depending on the day and server, this could be good or not so much. Sometimes the service is great and food is quick, other times you’ll wonder who spit in the server’s coffee and want to eat the napkins off the table. They have a wide selection of food– Japanese, Thai, and Sushi. I’m giving it three stars because my boyfriend asked me to give it another chance and today, Anna gave me hope for this place. Great, attentive service and our food was quick and fresh. Keep up the good work, I want to update my review again!

Went once several months ago, my boyfriend was more impressed with the pad thai than I was with the sushi rolls, actually 2 of the 3 were pretty good, but the third was a struggle to eat. It seemed like a powdery paste that was spicy and it was unlike anything I’ve ever tried, and I’ve had a lot of sushi over the years! Maybe if I find the menu online I’ll come back and name the roll I was so displeased with. Must have been the moochie paste on the Harley Roll that I thought was absolutely disgusting, not because it was hot, but because it’s dry and pastey and a terrible texture to have in a sushi roll!

I stopped in to order take out and they were slammed at 2pm. When I ordered the waitress did tell me that they were back up in the kitchen and it might take a little longer than usual to get my food and quoted me for about 20 – 25 minutes. I was ok with that and wanted to sit down for a bloody mary anyways. I ordered my rolls and nigiri and I believe the floor manager tookn my drink order at the bar. I enjoyed my bloody mary pretty slowly and by the time I was done my food still wasn’t out yet. I continued to wait patiently, never looking at my clock. A few times someone came to ask me if I was waiting for my order and they were attentive. After 35 – 40 minutes I needed to put money in my meter because I didn’t expect my take out to take this long. After putting money in my meter and coming back the manager asked me if I was still waiting and she said she would push my order through since I had been waiting so long on my take out. She profusely apologized for the wait and that she said were busy in the back but that is no excuse for waiting this long. She ended taking care of some of my order, since I had been so patiently waiting with no complaint. My total wait time from walking in the door to taking my food out the door was 50 minutes. I just want to say that the hospitality here is great! I usually find that only at fine dining places do I get service like this. So thank you so much for taking care of your customers. Now, for the food. It was good not bad. I ordered rolls that didn’t have sauce on it and mostly nigiri which the quality of the fish was good enough quality and taste.

This is not the best sushi we’ve ever had, but it’s really, really good, particularly for the midwest. We sat at the sushi bar, it was very busy on a weekend night. The chefs were very friendly, and seemed to take pride in their work, which was spot-on. The two key things for good sushi are good ingredients, and people who know what to do with those ingredients. Little Tree had both. They had no problem with custom-requests and were all very friendly. We are definitely looking forward to going back in March.

Really like the atmosphere here! A sushi bar and lots of tables. Good lighting. Nice tables. Helpful staff. Have good rolls depending if you like raw fish or not. So something for everyone! Also if you’re not a fan of sushi there are many other options. Rice dishes. Noodle dishes. My favorite is the yaki udon. Mmm… with shitaki mushrooms! Also nabe udon… like the sushi too. About 2 rolls a person. The special rolls are quite large… Overall, been coming here for many years. Not been disappointed yet!

Little Tree is my favorite sushi restaurant in metro Detroit but I don’t dare say it is the best. The sushi is always amazing. My favorites are the This Is It roll which comes with a special sauce and the Lobster Crunch roll however, I haven’t had a roll which wasn’t prepared well with fresh ingredients. They offer more than typical Japanese fare which is perfect if you’re dining with a guest that does not care for sushi. The lettuce wraps are not all that amazing but they come chock full of thick, marinated vegetables. The fried gyoza and shrimp & vegetable tempura are always top pick appetizers for me. Both are fried just enough to be crispy without overcooking the insides. Small bites here and there of my friend’s dishes prove to me that their entrees are consistently good and provide ample portions for any eaters needs.
