If I were just reviewing the food I’d give this place five stars, but sadly they lose points for really poor service. A friend and I were told about this place by her son, a LA Tech football player(How ’bout them Dawgs?) and were really excited to try breakfast at a place we don’t have in the Houston area. The place was full when we arrived and we took a booth on the end cap of the kitchen area. *Don’t sit in this booth! They can’t see you and forget you are there! At least two other tables came in after us and ordered, ate, paid and left and we STILL didn’t have our food! The waitress finally came over, after over an hour of waiting and told my friend«they put gravy on the food, instead of ‘on the side’, like you asked, do you want them to fix it?» My friend said said«yes, please, since I’m not sure I’ll like the gravy and don’t want it to ruin the meal in case I don’t like it.» Then within a few minutes our food was at our table. So if it only took three minutes to cook her fresh food, what took an hour to get the meal to our table? Not one word of apology, not one mention of the long wait! Then, the entire time we were eating, the waitress kept watching us with impatience like she was ready to leave and needed us to hurry up. She also only refilled our drinks when we asked her too! Like I stated at the beginning of this review, I’d be leaving a five star review and raving about the stuffed hash brown breakfast meal if the service hadn’t left such an awful taste in my mouth!

So, a few weeks ago my husband and I decided that we would start having breakfast together out of the house away from the kids and the TVs and video games and computers just to spend some quality time together, just him and me. Since we don’t have an IHOP, Cracker Barrel or any other decent place near us, we chose Huddle House. We went into the restaurant and as we were entering a large group of women were leaving. The waitress clearly saw us come in because we had to pass her to get to the place where we sat. An elderly couple was sitting across from us. He had a glass of OJ and she had a glass of milk. They had yet to be served any food at that point. Over 45 minutes went by before we finally decided to get up and leave. The waitress never came by to address us. She never came to offer us drinks or anything. The couple next to us weren’t addressed either for their orders. To make the night even WORSE, we went to Waffle House instead. Not only did they mess up the order, the food was awful! I can’t even begin to express how irritated I was. And to top all of that off, I tweeted them, they asked me to DM my email address to which they never responded. #justDisgusted

I like the idea of being able to eat 24⁄7365! I was here visiting family and needed a quick breakfast very early in the morning. The cook was very friendly and made to order my breakfast. She wrapped it to go and made sure I had everything I needed. This location is the one I would recommend for the best service. The food was good but the service was excellent!

So my daughter and her dorm mate suggested this place after Dad and I picked her up from college last Feb to bring her home for medical tx. Her arm still dangling/hanging from her shoulder socket, in pain… but my lil girl never passes up a chance to grub.(gotta talk to her ’bout that) They said The Waffle House sux(their words… quickly corrected and reprimanded) and this was a step up. ;-) . I used to liked the Waffle House in Atlanta way back when, but i was probably too loaded back then to care. Just like making a drunk run to IHOP out here. But I digress… A few miles from Grambling University… out in the stix. this is ur typical southern diner – a lil dingy, a lil dated and a lil grease covered. Now the waitresses, cooks, etc needed to tone their voices down. With a thin divide of maybe 10 inches between the back cooking area and the aligning tables… everything that was on the mind of these workers became info for us-boyfriend issues, roommate problems, and dare i say, health situations. Sheesh. So choose your tables accordingly. But to the food. Daughter and her roomie chose waffles w/strawberries n french toast bacon sausage etc. It looked very good. But Pops and I stuck with steak n eggs, biscuits n gravy w/eggs, respectively. Some manly stuff. Med rare steak. soft fluffy eggs. great biscuits and sausage gravy… All good all around.

In this small city, this place & the food is really good. Also, I never found a good place to have my breakfast but this one got my attention.

I had been to Waffle House the week before and wanted to try out the HH too to have an accurate comparison. I love breakfast for dinner so this was perfect. However, the waitress was not helpful and didn’t understand how I wanted my eggs(sunny side up) which then came out raw and only half-cooked. The hash browns were good and I loooooved the nutter butter milkshake(which then made me go to walmart & buy some of these darn delicious cookies). I was kinda disappointed the prices are more than Waffle House but then again the portions are bigger here so I guess it evens out. Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll go back.

Love this place. Fluffiest, most flavorful omelets, very homey feel and affordable prices. I’ve always loved the philly cheese steak omelet and its usually so big that I can’t finish it. It has a buttery taste, the meat is flavorful and tender. I always try to stop here whenever I’m passing through Ruston.

Honest, affordable, good southern breakfasts. This place reminds me of the Waffle House, except I will actually eat here. It’s in the middle of nowhere(and I don’t use that word lightly). It was hunting season when we came, so everyone was decked out in their camo… a different scene from that of Silicon Valley… refreshing and scary all at the same time. They had some REALLY good hot cocoa and they give free refills on it too. score.
