One of the better Thai food options in this area — standard American Thai but always major drama when ordering via seamless. They always have issues going to surrounding towns. Rutherford is a tiny place, it’s ludicrous to give paying customers flak about neighboring towns. My delivery was 2.3 miles away, a distance shorter than what I usually run and they didn’t want to do it. I tipped $ 3 on $ 18 and they said the drivers complained so then I offered to double the tip and they said it’s «not about the tip» — that’s preposterous! I tried canceling and they made me up another appetizer to reach some arbitrary threshold that they refused to disclose to me. Major PIA, if you have minimums by zip codes then build it into seamless and if you don’t like seamless because they’re eating into your profits, offer a better price for cash over the phone. If I wasn’t so addicted to Thai food, I wouldn’t stand for this! I’m definitely going to avoid this place from now on.

Called at 920pm to order food and they said they were closing early. They advertise that they are open until 10pm. Change your hours of operation online !!!

Low rating based off of very poor dine in service. I got a simple order of drunken noodles which were good. Here’s the reason for only 2 stars… I called in advance Bc I wouldn’t be able to get to the restaurant until around 9:20 pm and wanted to make sure this would work. Their website said they are open until 11. The woman on the phone said I need to get there before 10 because that is when the kitchen closes. She then hangs up the phone without being sure I wasn’t going to ask anything else. Maybe she was busy, understandable. Got there around 9:25, there were a few other groups already sitting and eating. Ordered my food. About half way through finishing my meal, the other few groups had finished and left. The staff put the lights on at that point and started hovering at our table. It is probably around 9:50 at this point. I still have food on my plate and eating when the server brings the check. She comes back a few minutes later and I tell her I’m not ready yet. An older woman then comes over, picks up the check from my table to literally hand it to me. She also tries to grab my wine glass to take away when I still had half a glass left in it. I literally ended up chugging my wine while the staff stood there glaring at me, and leaving. It was about 10:05 at this point.
What the hell kind of service is this?

Right in the center of Rutherford, it’s the only Thai place I’ve seen in town. The atmosphere is ok, food is so-​so, wasn’t that impressed. It was a little bland, but the place is BYOB, they deliver and aren’t very expensive. That being said, don’t think I would go back though…

Had ordered some food to go. The vegetable dumplings were mouth watering. The entire meal was really good. The place was small and quiet with nice décor. Definitely worth the trip back.

I got stuck at work without a dinner plan, and needed someplace that would deliver. Five minutes later on Unilocal,I decided to give Red Basil a try.
Ordering from the website was a breeze, though the total must meet or exceed $ 20 to qualify for delivery; and whether you pick up or have delivery, there are numerous free add-​ons; for example spend $ 20 and add a free spring roll.
The delivery came in 20 minutes and the Panang Curry with pork was on point; the coconut sauce was perfectly spiced, however there was a paucity of pork and for $ 14 left me wanting.
The spring rolls were good if a bit oily and I had ordered a curry puff to bring my order up above $ 20, it was also quite good.
Bottom line, I will order again or actually visit the place if I need good healthy Thai near work.

Red basil is my favorite Thai in the area. So flavorful! The one thing is that their portions are quite small so I usually have to order more and spend more but I’ve tried all the Thai restaurants in the northern nj area and nothing comes close to red basil.

Great Lunch specials for $ 9.99. Everything from Pad Thai to Massuman Curry with choice of Beef, Chicken, Veggie or Tofu. (Extra $ 1 charge for shrimp) white or brown rice and one appetizer. Always fresh, generous portions. Pretty place, nice and bright and comfortable. Lovely owners, Kay and her Mom are always so nice and work hard to please.

Service has really gone downhill. Once we were there almost 2 hours before all our food came out. We were told that two people had called out so the kitchen was short staffed. After that experience it took us a long time to come back. On our next visit, the first thing I asked was about their staffing in the kitchen that day. She said they were fully staffed and there would be no issues or delays. Alas, lunch still took 90+ minutes. I don’t think we’ll be back again.

All hail good Thai restaurants with vegetarian duck! It’s delicious and plentiful.
I’ve been to the restaurant twice which is tucked away on a side street behind bustling park ave in Rutherford. I hope it can stick it out but there’s only been one other table full both times I’ve been here. There’s just so many options on «main st» that I just can’t see it making it.

They have a great lunch special everyday until 4pm! $ 9.95 for an entrée with your choice of a drink, appetizer, or dessert (see the menu for options). There is a $ 1 up charge for beef, and $ 3 for crispy duck.
The service is always extremely friendly and very kind. They are the nicest people and it’s great to see how much pride they have in their business. It really shows in their service and their food. Sometimes they give a free item like an appetizer or a thai ice tea.
This time I got a thai ice tea and green curry with crispy duck. The curry had the perfect amount of spiciness and the duck was crispy and delicious. The food was so good!
I recommend going to this place for the great service, food, and price!

Had lunch here the other day and the menu and prices for that time of day were great. Had a healthy soup and chicken pad thai and both were very yummy. I don’t eat Thai often, but I’d say this place is pretty good.

Very tasty! Friendly service and fast delivery. The food was fresh, rolls were crispy and the curry was really good. The Curry puffs were super flavorful and light and flaky! Great local spot if you’re in the mood for Thai. Will be ordering from there again

I’m not a Thai connoisseur, but it’s something I enjoy from time to time!
The service was quick and friendly, and the food was great. I tried the Pad Basil with pork. The Pork pieces were great, nice big slices. The mix of veggies was good. Spicy, but not extreme, though they packed a small container of some very spicy hot sauce.
The Satay chicken was very good, and I really liked the peanut sauce. One other reviewer thought it comes from a jar… I’ve never had peanut sauce from a jar that had this consistency. Good chunks of peanut.
All in all, a very good experience! Looking forward to next time. 4 Solid stars!

After moving away for four years we just moved back to the area few weeks ago. I’ve been anxious to find a good Thai place and wanted to find one in town. This place was great! And even better that they deliver! Very timely delivery as well.
The Panang was awesome. Nice amount of kick to it. We also got the red curry– just to see what the difference is between that and the Panang… The only difference we could find was that one had eggplant over the other… I really think it’s the same thing. Still delicious though.
Pad see ew– beef was awesome. Beef was tender and the noodles were perfect.
Will definitely go back to this place from here on out!

Great tasting food. Thai food the way it should be. Staff is always courteous, those sometimes the service can be slow. One side of the restaurant is warmer than the other so if you get cold easily sit to the left of the restaurant. The Basil chicken us fantastic and the best in the area. They have some great and unique appetizers, get the duck rolls, Peking duck in a wrap style, fantastic. Definitely going to keep coming back.

We had the spring rolls (great), scallion pancakes (different; would probably not order again), pad Thai beef (great), and spicy noodles with chicken (really good; our favorite dish of the meal).
Overall, good experience. Would come back again.

Their lunch special is an amazing deal. $ 7.95 for an appetizer and entrée. The portions are not too large nor small.
We had the pad thai and chicken pad basil with Thai egg rolls and mango salad. Everything tasted great and the service was very good.

I just ordered from here and it was the worst Thai food I’ve had in a long time. I see quite a few good reviews for this restaurant, so I’m a bit confused why my food came out so bad. Maybe it was due to having my food delivered? That’s still no excuse though…
We ordered dinner which consisted of curry puffs, duck pad thai, grilled pork chops, and an order of thai iced for myself and the wife.
— The puffs were tasty, nothing wrong there.
— The duck pad thai was bland and the duck over cooked. Basically inedible and more than half was tossed in the garbage.
— the grilled pork chops were tasteless and felt like you were chewing on rubber. Look at the attached picture of the sticky rice they sent with this dish for yet another reason this spot gets only 1 star in my book.
— Thai iced tea was the highlight of the meal. Okay, you can’t really screw that up…
