Wow. Closed. They should have never opened. Worst pizza in New Jersey. The only good reviews they had, came from their friends. Did you ever taste the great pizza down the block? Mama Rosa’s. Best«PIZZA» in town. That place has been going strong for over 44 years, and will continue for the next 100 years. Bye Bye SCORPUS Puzza.

We ordered their Sicilian pizza and I heard nothing but good things and personally I didn’t think it was terrible but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. The sauce had a certain spice to it that I didn’t agree that should have been in there. Some ppl I guess like it but it wasn’t for me. But I won’t be bitter about it and I will give it the benefit of the doubt again and c what happens.

If I can give 0 stars, I would. We recently purchased the deal on Unilocal for Scarpa’s Pizza, but when we showed up, they told us they are under new ownership and not accepting the voucher! So now, unless we can get a refund from Unilocal,we are basically screwed. The new owner has purchased this pizza shop months ago and has not done anything to rectify the situation so I can only imagine how many people have been duped by this false advertisement here. THISISABSOLUTELYUNACCEPTABLE!

Best pizza for miles around. Definitely the best pizza in town. We have it delivered and have never had a problem. In fact we like the delivery guy who has managed during his short visits to make a friend of two of my cats(One cat is mean). I wish I could buy slices of anything aside from plain pizza but this is a minor complaint considering how yummy the pies are.

Not that bad, not that great. Nice and energetic young owner. The square slices is his thing here but the sauce cheese ratio is off a bit. It’s a nice open pretty big space but could be more welcoming. There’s just so many pizza options in the Rutherford/Lyndhurst area… The sauce was ok at best.

Average at best. The reviews on here make it out to be way better than it actually is. Lots of crust and very little sauce or cheese. Pretty much what you’d expect from a $ 10 pizza.

I’m shocked to see even one bad review of this place, let alone many. I just discovered this place about 6 months ago and have ordered delivery more than a dozen times, and I have had nothing less than a 5-star experience every time. The guy on the phone is always very polite and courteous. The delivery drivers are also super nice and friendly. The delivery time is always very fast and my pizza always arrives hot. I know pizza preference is very particular to the person, but the square pie is the best pizza I have ever had. Bar none. I wouldn’t give this«honor» out lightly. I’ve had thousands of pizzas all over New Jersey and New York in my 31 years. The crust, the sauce, and the cheese are all so good that I don’t know what I like best. It’s not really a «typical» pizza. I’m not really sure what to compare it with. The square pie also is fantastic for when you have company. The square slices are smaller than a normal slice from a round pie, which is super convenient for picking up and eating — you don’t even really need a plate. Lyndhurst Pizza was probably my favorite before finding Scarpa’s, with Da Mario’s close behind. I’ve tried every other pizza place in the area and I couldn’t really recommend them. Now I tell everyone about Scarpa’s. If I ever move away from the area, this will be the one thing I miss most.

I have eaten here a couple of times. But, the 3rd time I learned my lesson. First time my pizza was kind of under cooked, the sauce was watery and the dough wasn’t crispy. Then just recently I called a total of 3 times to put my order in. The first time they didn’t answer and then 2nd they left me on hold. I was skeptical then, I tried again and the young kid taking my order was rude and didn’t know what he was doing. I ordered an extra large pizza with half topping. I decided to pick it up. When we got home to eat it, it looked like they had put a large pizza in an extra large box. I had the holiday $ 3 off coupon and the kid was annoyed and didn’t want to deliver. My pizza was cold and it looked like they had just slapped the pepperoni on. The pizza wasn’t good point blank. When I called to complain he told me to bring it back and get my $ back. That was his solution after my 2 children had eaten some and complained. This place is a joke and the kid taking orders is rude and unprofessional.

I had a large pepperoni, which cost $ 16.50, and it was quite a large pie. Adequate topping of pepperoni and crust was thin and crispy. Actually, the crust was particularly nice! The other place I like is Romeo’s in Passaic and I can’t decide which I like better.

Loved the plain slice. In the rutherford area there is pizza on top of pizza available everywhere, but this place makes a style i really like. Very doughy but not too thick(they also serve thin slice pizza) and a nice baked in Parmesan flavor, along with a more«glob» and«dollop» style with the sauce and cheese(very similar style of pizza Mia in east rutherford) It’s pizza, we’ve all got our favorite spot but give it a try one night, very glad I did.

Best pizza in the area. Grandma’s pie all the way. Everytime I come visit home from CA, its either Park Tavern or Scarpa’s.

Nothing beats their old fashioned pie. The staff is great and they deliver pretty quickly too. I just wish they would add some basics(e.g. calzones and strombolis) to their menu.

Scarpas has surprised me. After several bad reviews I was hesitant to order but heard good reviews from friends. After trying it, I was in love! The pizza is cooked to perfection. The sandwiches are HUGE. Always served with a smile. When I first place a delivery order they even called afterwards to see that everything was okay. That certainly was above and beyond expectation and I was very pleased with such good customer service.

A friend of mine bookmarked this place and being that it was a pizza place, I had to learn more. I was surprised at some of the reviews. I wondered if those things really went wrong or whether I should even trust the reviews. Today, I was heading back to Philly from Mitsuwa Marketplace after a light lunch and Scarpa’s was more-or-less on my way across the county. I’ve driven further for pizza or any food that I knew was good. I had a difficult time getting from Edgewater/Fort Lee to Rutherford because of the construction and my lack of knowledge and/or memory of the area. One traffic jam after the other, I scratched and clawed my way there. Once I arrived, finding a parking place wasn’t all that easy, partly because someone had sideswiped my car the previous day and I wanted to park on a side street. I found a place and entered. The exterior doesn’t tell how nice it is inside the restaurant. They’ve got some nice tables and chairs. It’s not a $ 50 per plate restaurant, so don’t think it’s going to be elegant, but it was good. Rafael(sp?) was behind the counter and I ordered a couple of supreme/deluxe slices. I didn’t see anything in the drink case I liked but I asked and he said that it was okay to bring my iced tea from the car. Kewl. He was kinda shocked when I told him that I drove here from Indiana/Ohio. That’s probably the furthest anyone has gone to have their pizza. I suspect I wouldn’t have driven that far, just for the pizza, not knowing how it was. Now that I’ve had it, I might. Mind, they had 4 pans with slices on them. They’d been there a while. The slices even looked a bit dried out, but strangely, they were still good. Now, that’s not to say that fresh out of the oven wouldn’t be much better – it would have been, but 4 p.m. you can’t expect fresh unless you’re ordering a whole pie. I can’t speak to anyone else’s problems but I was treated well and got good food in a timely manner. I can’t give 5 stars for slices that have been sitting but I expect that, had I ordered a fresh pizza, this review would have been 5 stars easily. They have a TV, and it was amusing because ESPN, I think it was, must have hired an announcer from Telemundo or Univision, and I was just waiting for the announcer to break into Spanish after each«GOL!» :-D Was it worth the trip through the construction and the traffic? Absolutely. I’d do it again some other week. Update 2014.06.11: I returned about a year later, and had some really great pasta. How is it that this little place is just so good?

So I have a 3 strike rule unless you make me physically ill. 3 strike zone had been achieved. So when they first opened I ordered two pizzas. One cheese and one ham and peppers. Delivery quote 45 minutes. So two hours later I gave up went to Burger King and as I am leaving who is showing up? My hobby is a nice guy and did not hold delivery guy responsible so tipped him. Pizza was cold. Ok they just opened like literally a week before so I cut them some slack. My kids loved it. Not sure if t was good or they were starving. Three months go by, let me try again kinks should be gone. Delivery please one cheese pie and one pepperoni. 35 minutes. Now to be real clear they are 4 blocks of residential streets from me. One hour goes by. Delivery guy a no show. So I call. Tell them this is second time etc and can I come pick it up? He’s there 15 minutes later. 1 hr 15 from 35. So he’s in the car and not getting out he’s on phone with manager because he had wrong pizza. No pepperoni. I get a free cheese pizza. Did not wan te other one. Off he goes. Third time. I decide this past August I’m picking up cause obviously delivery isn’t there thing. So girl on phone I tell her one cheese one pepperoni. She tells me she can’t hear me. Fourth repeat she gets it, it’ll be 35 minutes. Well I know that’s bs right? So at the 45 minute mark I start making my way. Get there at 55. Pizza not in the oven yet. Is Saturday night we’re busy. So I gotta say 3rd strike won’t give them another opportunity. However it is some really tasty pizza. My kids absolutely love it and stop there for a slice on the way past. But I won’t be bothered any more. And so the 3 stars for taste no stars for service and so we’re at 3, wish you best of luck. Sorry guys. I continue to go to mamas across the street and pizza Mia in ER.

I ordered delivery from Scarpa’s Pizza last night and the food was terrible. The garlic knots were microwaved. They had that chewing taste and slowly became more rubbery after ten minutes. The chicken parm was served on something that resembled a flat bagel cut in half. It was bland and just a big disappointment. My boyfriend literately doused his in hot sauce and bbq sauce(yuck) to give it some sort of taste. Oh and this morning I am sick to my stomach. Lucky me. I didn’t order a pizza so I can’t comment in regards to a pizza pie. The service on the other hand was great. The guy who took my order was very friendly and the delivery only took 20 minutes. If only they put the same efforts in their food as customer service then I might not be writing a review such as this. I honestly wanted this place to be descent because most of the pizza places in my town just don’t know how to make a good Italian dish. Oh well, guess I will continue my quest for the perfect Italian restaurant in Rutherford.

Scarpa’s pizza is AWESOME! I am a huge pizza fan and tried many Pizzarias(especially in Rutherford)… BUT Scarpas Pizza tops ALLOFTHEM. First off, I will have to say their overall quality of the pizza is great. Little things such as the crust, cheese, sauce, and toppings are all fresh and taste amazing! I even see ricotta cheese in the pizzas which no one else has in their pizza. And whoever bashed on the Old Fashioned Square Pizza is in denial! It is the most amazing pizza out there! If you are looking for a crispy, cheesy, thin crust square pizza, YOUMUSTTRYTHISPIZZA! I also love the patches of tomato sauce they have on the cheese pizzas… You can just taste the difference in their pizza. So far I have told all my friends about Scarpas pizzas and they have yet to order from another pizzaria! Definitely try their Margarita and Hawaiian, my favorites. They have great service and great people that work at Scarpas. I definitely recommend anyone who has not tried their pizza to go in and grab a slice! It will change your pizza experience! By the WAY! There is a great chance to try all their pizzas with the $ 1SLICES(any SLICE!!) after 8:30 pm! Just discovered that after I picked up my daily slices for dinner… This made my day!

The parentals and I ordered from Scarpa’s on Sunday night and we were really impressed! Their menu is not huge — they only have a handful of salads, wraps, and entrees to select from(as compared to other local pizzerias) but Scarpa’s quality trumps their competition, hands-down. They offer the usual pizza varieties and they also have a catering menu. We chose one order of cheese raviolis(10 raviolis per order instead of the 7 or 8 you receive from other places… my dad was happy about that), one grilled chicken wrap, and one potatoes/eggs/peppers/mushrooms sandwich. Everything was presented so nicely — very aesthetically pleasing. Even the containers that Scarpa’s places their food in are very nice. Rather than serving you stale-ass bread like the other pizzerias in the area, Scarpa’s served fresh, delicious pizza bread(very large round roll that is sliced up). I haven’t seen pizza bread in YEARS. This shows me that the owners are true Italians(most pizzerias don’t even know what this kind of bread is). The grilled chicken wrap came along with a really nice side salad(baby greens) lightly dressed, with sundried tomatoes, regular tomatoes, and olives. I hate iceberg lettuce… it is cheap and offers zero nutritional value… thank you Scarpa’s for not inviting it to the salad party! The ingredients in the wrap were simple but delicious — sundried tomato wrap, grilled chicken, mozz, and baby greens. The potatoes/eggs/peppers/mushrooms sandwich was insanely delicious(served on the pizza bread). Yumzilla. The owners take pride in their business and it shows. I hope they continue this level of freshness, quality and care that they put into their food. If they do, then they will have a lot of repeat customers(like us)!

We went here for dinner on Friday night. Then we came back again on Saturday night. Terrific both times! The white pizza is great. We’ll be going back soon.
