Best restaurant ever!!! I am there all the time and the workers are so nice! The homeade potatoe chips are out of this world!

In the realm of breakfast there’s not much(some breakfast meats, waffles, pancakes, omelets, what have you). So to stand out you need to nail each item and that’s exactly why S&A’s stands apart from that trendy place down the road from here(which always has a line out of the door but so disappointing). The home fries aren’t that typical batch of raw bland potatoes with just the one side that’s crispy and cooked… these are banging and well-seasoned. The pancakes are crêpe-style and delicious. Your coffee cup is constantly being refilled. That complimentary fruit cup is a nice touch to wake your mouth up. The wife is mighty demanding when it comes to omelets and she approves of how S&A’s make theirs. The staff are all cool. And it’s always easier to get a table here than that other place on the other side of town.(In my travels I’ve learned the hard way — when a place has ‘pancake’ in their name they usually don’t live up to the hype.)

I want to like this place, but just cannot. The crêpe-like pancakes that everyone raves about to me were just decent. Please don’t read this and run, however, as this could be attributed to myself preferring a pancake over a crêpe. If you love crepes. this still may be the place for you, or at the very least worth trying. The omelets are made very fresh. I recommend getting the veggie omelet as it is loaded with flavor. The best part of the place is the home fries in my opinion. They are unlike any home fries I have had at many other breakfast places. The have the right amount of seasoning and are cooked perfectly. I’m not even a huge potato head(no pun intended), but the home fries here are the BEST I have had. So with these positives, why the 2-star rating? First and foremost, I’ve had days where home fries had run out. Secondly, the prices here are extremely inflated. The salad is very good but I remember it running us around $ 6 for a small plate. The breakfasts are not cheap either for the amount of food you get. I can spend $ 15 at the end of the morning here and may still feel hungry. I know I can have a large appetite at times, but truth be told, you don’t get much«bang for your buck» here. It really is disappointing. If I am going to spend that kind of money on breakfast I would make sure it would be my number-one choice, and not a place that simply is «slightly above average» or «okay.»

My husband and I happened upon this place while we were visiting my son at college. It’s a quaint little corner spot and has that family owned feel. We were greeted by the friendly staff and the service was outstanding. Our breakfast was great. The hubby had pancakes and enjoyed every last bite. I tried Taylor ham for the first time and loved it. If you’re looking for a good breakfast spot, I would definitely recommend Steve and Andrea’s.

If you’re not a pancake person like I am, try the waffles. They’re very unique — small and crispy on the outside but still doughy on the inside. The batter is also sweet, which I love. I’d recommend getting them with whipped cream and strawberries! Since moving to Rutherford I have gone to Steve & Andrea’s almost every weekend.

If my husband ever disappears, I know I’ll find him here. It’s a great place to go to for breakfast and lunch, loaded with locals, who are frequent fliers. Family owned, always ready with a greeting and attentive service. Coffee is exceptional! My husband refers to this as «Cheers» of Rutherford. Also, great for catering, especially Steve’s eggplant!

Came on a Sunday, late morning, at 10, and got a table for 5 in about 15 minutes. The servers were all friendly, pleasant, and attentive while the food was delicious. This was our first time coming in. Their menu is small but it certainly is flavorful and far satisfying. My only qualm was the fact the place was packed, with tables being pretty close to one another. Still, it didn’t inconvenience us, and we had a person with a cane in our party.

Great food and friendly service! I love that the pancakes are thin; they’re just right. I’ll definitely come back again.

I was really excited to try this place with my cousin for a weekend brunch. My cousin ordered the Mexican omelette and I ordered the banana pancakes and homefries to share. Our food took FOREVER to come, but I guess that made sense considering how many people they had to serve, but it seemed like people who got there after us were getting served before us. In terms of the food, the banana pancakes were great but pretty average and the homefries were delicious but a little too oily. Overall, it was a nice restaurant, but I think the place is a bit overhyped, but I would definitely come back here if the wait isn’t too long!

Small, cozy, and delicious. Although the restaurant is rather small it makes you feel so comfortable. The waiters were attentive and refilled my coffee multiple times throughout my meal. The menu is diverse and has options for everyone. The food comes out fresh off the grill. You can actually see the chefs cooking too! Had to knock off one star because it was incredibly hard to understand the waiter and he seemed to kinda disappear when I needed the check. Overall it really was a great meal! I got the chocolate chip pancakes which were the BEST pancakes I’ve ever HAD. And the hash browns oh my god don’t get me started they were out of this world. All in all. It’s nice inexpensive spot. Parking is street only. Quarters and dimes for the meters. It also closes at around 3:30 pm

I’ve been here 3 times in the last 2 months — I am hooked! It’s truly hard for me to find a place that makes pancakes the way they do. The banana pancakes are even better! No syrup needed — not for me! The service has been great each time, they are fast whether it is busy or not. They even offer take out, you just go up to the bar to order. This place is also busy on weekends and some afternoons — so although I have only tried the pancakes its safe to say this place has great food! I don’t think they would have full tables an hour before closing if they didn’t ;)

To start I’d like to say that the food was very good here, I had the«Denver» omelette which was just a fancy name for a western. The homefries were also good. Now for the bad, the service was pretty bad, most of us went with empty glasses for extended periods of time, and whenever we asked for anything we got the feeling that we were bothering the servers. The parking situation wasn’t the best and I was greeted with a filthy tablecloth, see the picture. Also, I saw one of the workers moving around bread and preparing egg/chicken salad with no gloves, it was kind of disgusting. Clean up the service, wear gloves and this would be a 4 – 5 star restaurant, as for me? I probably won’t be back.

I ate Presidents’ Day lunch here and it was great! I had the Mexican omelette with home fries and toast. The omelette was delicious and overflowing with avocado and black beans! Yum! The pepper jack cheese wasn’t completely melted but still tasty! The home fries were the best I’ve ever had… Service was okay — the waitress seemed a bit impatient but what are you going to do? I’ll definitely return… A–

I moved in 3 blocks from here so I thought I must try steve and Andreas since I heard such good things. I got soup while I waited for a chicken parm sandwich to go. The soup was ok a little bland. So I get home and take a bite and I’m soooooo disapointed. The hero has more bread with such a small amount of chicken. The chicken was pounded so thing that it got incredibly tough when they cooked it. The sauce was mediocre and super bummed out and still starving. I should have went to Volares down the street they have the best chicken parm, I don’t know what I was thinking… *update I had to lower the rating because I had to stop eating the sandwich the chicken the little that was there was too tough. It tasted like they made the cutlet 3 days ago it was not fresh for sure.

This restaurant definitely has the vibe of a «I came here when I was a little kid» feeling. Probably one of the better breakfast places I’ve tried in North Jersey. I got the Taylor, Egg, and Cheese sandwich: pretty bangin’. Very good balance of flavors all around, and I just love how each time I knife into my sandwich, the yolk from the egg just oozes out. This ooze definitely tells you whether the overall sandwich will be good or not! Of course after reading Unilocal reviews prior to coming here, I HAD to get the chocolate chip pancakes. I’m not that big of a pancake person, but I totally understand why people were raving over these pancakes. They definitely hit the spot for you at breakfast time. Get it if you have a sweet tooth and a savory tooth at the same time! Only one gripe: this place should get more parking. Mind you, this is a good problem to have: this means the business is growing!

One of the best places to get pancakes in the north jersey area! They have their signature pancakes which are thin but soft at the same time, must try it. I usually get banana or blueberry pancakes. They’re not like IHOP or a regular diner so they won’t have huge portions. Normal portions here so order slightly more items, I usually get the pancakes and 1 egg platter which comes with home fries and toast. Great Sunday morning spot. THEHOMEFRIES so good here, not burnt at all but fluffy instead. No TVs in here though, would be nice to be able to catch some sports highlights at the same time.

Typically the service is awesome and the food is oh so good! Usually there is a wait for the weekends which I don’t mind because they are that good, but today was not the case so there is no excuse for the delay with food and service! First we asked for brown sugar and they brought a small amount in a to go sauce cup for just 1 person so we asked more and they young guy brought the container… I said ok thanks not sure if he didn’t want to be bothered with coming back or just wanted to make sure we had had enough. Took over 15 minutes to be asked what we wanted to eat… people who came in after us are eating before we did and the worst part was that the food took 40 minutes to come out and no one came to check on us. Everyone who came in after us ate and left and we were still waiting for food. I had the most simple order and had to send the eggs back. I still give them 4 stars because they are usually on point with everything. But today was just a bad day. Hopefully this is not the case for the next time. Have an awesome weekend!

What a charming, family-friendly, easy breakfast place! I came here with my boyfriend and some friends for an easy, Sunday breakfast catch-up. Torn between a few things, my boyfriend and I split the Greek omelet and the Taylor Ham Breakfast sandwich(on a bagel.) Everything was delicious! As many other people note, the breakfast potatoes are delicious — somehow creamy, crispy, and steaming all at once. The service was a bit scattered, but well-intentioned. On a busy Sunday morning, I understand the somewhat frantic service. No one’s order was messed up, and the coffee was flowing!

This spot is awesome sauce! Parking is tough on peak times and the hours are very business like. That doesn’t stop us though… Breakfast is banging here!!! We stopped in today to celebrate fathers day as we all love the first meal of the day!!! The food was amazing and those crêpe pancakes were top notch! I ordered the Denver omelette, coffee and banana pancakes. She ordered scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes. The family ordered eggs, turkey subsea and coffee. In total it set us back $ 55 greenbacks for 4. First of all they use real eggs. Also real egg whites separated if that’s your protein thing. The eggs were nice and fluffy and tasted awesome. My Denver omelette was jam packed with ham, onions and peppers! Yum! The bacon and turkey sausage were nice and crisp ohhh yea and the home fries were awesome potatoes that were chunky, soft and still had a nice bite to them! The star of this place to me are the pancakes. You’ve GOT to try them. They are crêpe style, flat, fluffy and crisp. Dang they are banging!!! We will go back for sure! If go, go early or call ahead to reserve a table as lines do form outside. Enjoy folks!

I would love to give more stars but just can’t. I love this place truly. Love their food especially the pancakes. Without question 5 star. The reason for low stars? Only one person takes your order and checks you out. So it takes an abnormal amount of time to order sometimes and then to pay and leave. They are a very small place and could just give some thought to that. They could turn the tables faster.
