The boat was large and clean. They have tables and chairs inside so if you cold you can just sit inside and still see whales. Staff was very friendly and answered all our questions.

Nice four hours on the ocean. We saw whales within ½ hour of leaving the harbor. Another 30 minutes out, we saw a couple more. About seven in total. Clean little kitchen for reasonably priced snacks. Clean bathroom and friendly, knowlegable tour guides and volunteers.

Great trip for three generations of fishers: grandpa son and two grandkids. Crew was helpful and cheerful. Captain found good areas with lots of strikes and a lot of caught mackerel. They have some kind of clean diesel tech on the which translated into a lack of the usual diesel smoke smell I have experienced on most fishing vessels, Nice touch!

For Mother’s Day I promised my mother that I would take her on a fishing trip. I purchased tickets for half day mackerel aboard the Atlantic Queen II for my mother, brother and myself. As it is a near shore four hour trip the rate was quite reasonable. We checked in at their world headquarters between 7:00am and 7:30am, boarded the boat, got our rental gear and the boat sallied at 8:00am. The boat is kept very clean and the mates were all polite, friendly and dressed neatly in matching Atlantic Queen T-shirts. Once underway the mates came around and made sure everyone was familiar with the spinning reels and jig fishing used in this type of fishing. It was a short ride out to our first fishing spot. Captain Brad Cook announced that we would try the spot for a half hour to see how it goes… THEFISHWEREHUNGRY We fished that spot for close to two and a half hours with lots of good sized mackerel biting the whole time. We then moved to a near shore spot where other party boats seemed to be having some luck. The fishing here was extremely good to with a huge number of fish only a little smaller then the fish at the first spot. The half day trip returns around noon with the mates busily filleting fish and cleaning the boat on the return trip. The catching on this trip was extremely good with the three of us completely filling our 47 quart cooler PLUS another bag of about a third more. We had a great time and caught many many many many keepers! This had not been my only trip aboard the Atlantic Queen II. I have been out on her in the past and my experience has always been very positive. The boat is kept clean. The mates are clean, friendly and helpful. They do not overbook their boat so there is elbow room for the passengers. It is a family friendly fishing environment, good for kids with adults who wish to try fishing. They also have a cash galley aboard but on these short trips it does not see much action.
