I’ve always wanted to go out to the Isles of Shoals and last summer, we took a trip out there with the Isles of Shoals Steamship Company. One of the crew members was a marine biology student at UNH and she sat with my daughters (ages 6 and 8) and a few of the other children onboard during the boat ride and talked to them about different marine animals, patiently answered their questions, etc. That alone was worth the trip. But it was also really great to tour Star Island, including the tiny (and sad) cemetaries. Even being chased by a mother sea gull (we were warned!) was part of the great experience.
